White Doors replied to BC_chick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada

As you can see there really is not such thing as 'Palestinians' per se. It is merely a misnomer. it is important however to understnad this to truly get a grasp of what is going on today. -

Israel withdrew from Gaza. What good did that do? They got missles in response. Studies have also shown that UN aid money for the Palestinians is being misappropriated to kill Israeli's and brainwash Palestinian children to believe that jews are sub-human. Israel would be very willing to dismantle all the settlements if they could get peace. They can't. They will probably dismantle the settlements anyways. BTW do you know HOW Israel came to control the West bank and Gaza strip? Do you know the history of wars that it has defended itself against? On your opnion polls in Euroope, does it surprise you that the land of the holocaust still maintains anti-semitism to this day? And you can't take issue with Hamas not recognizing Israel's right to exist as mandated by the UN? You can't 'blame' them for taking that stance?? WHY? Do you not see that when Fatah or Hamas are not killing their Jews they turn on each other? Can you not see that Palestine is a sick society? Can you not see how Hezbollah will use Lebanese civilians just to try and kill jews? Can you not see how Hamas is using Palestinian citizens to kill Jews? Would you not agree that peace would be achieveable if only Israel's enemies recognized the jews were human and had a right to exist in Israel? Surely you can see this is a necessary pre-curser to ANY peace in the region. Only bigotry would have you answer no to this question. -
I've not seem anywhere near the majority they would need to separate anyway. Likewise, Alberta and any other would be provinces don't have anywhere near 50% of the population of their respective province's population interested in separation. All I've seen are individuals who have threatened to hold their breath because they are disgruntled. Correct which is why it is important for the ROC to call their bluff. and if they decide to do it anyways, make it clear that they will have to concede land, pay debt etc etc.

Besides the personal issues that crept into this forum from both ends of the spectrum this is a pretty good thread. On the Israel issue, I do think that it IS pretty black and white however. Israel is held to standards that no other country in the world is. They are a free country and are being attacked by murderous terrorists. They are in a lose-lose proposotion. I think they handle it about as best as can be expected. I dunno, but I choose to support the democracy over the terrorists in this one. thanks for your input BC Chick. -

2006: probably the coldest year in the last five years

Talk about intolerence from the 'inclusive' left. They are inclusive until you step outside of the party line. Then you are hitler, or a so-com or a neo-con. Irony is fun! -
Nope, never said impossible. Check back. I merely said it was possible that it may not. You implied that it was impossible that it wouldn't end in violence which is ridiculous.
-
you asked for ONE example. I bothed the bangledesh example but all of my other one's were valid as is the Slovak/Chech replublic one is. Admitting when you are wrong is a sign of maturity. I would also take issue with PQ not essentially being a semi-autonomous province within Canada. It has a different legal system for one. (Code vs/ common) So I think it CAN be said of provinces within Canada.
-
As you can see there are many examples of it happening peacefully. At least giving them a realistic alternative may call their bluff. I am sick of the ROC being held hostage.
-
Name me a country that separated that didn't have violence. Facts much? Off the top of my head... Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Scotland (for all intents and purposes) Lithuania, Bangledesh I'm sure that there are more!

Dont think to deep do you? Don't use to/too in the right context do you?

I guess I am wondering why the only market was seen to be American. There would have been lots of buyers for the Avro. This didn't stop the Israelis, America's 'Best Friend'. huh? Where did I say anything about any customer's? And I thought Canada was America's best friend? Or are you just getting warmed up for an anti-semetic tirade? -
I have written quite a bit on this elsewhere. There are several scenarios that could lead to fighting. Look at yourself now, you already are prepared to kill me based on saying that a civil war is possible. haha really? enjoy rhetoric much? haha
-
Do you give them the area with the 10 CPC ridings? What about Montreal? Split that down the middle? Sure why not? The people can move that don't want to join the 'new republic'. The populations of NB and NS need a boost anyways.
-
Civil war. Oh, well, thanks for sharing your PHD disertation.

What I find most ironic about this debate is the Canadians who appear to 'support' Quebec seperation are also the same group of people who would likely give Quebec the hardest time on the way out. I wonder if seperatists have noticed this... A hard time? I'd like it to make it as easy as possible. Why would they think that seperation is only on their terms and consequence free? The typical PQ seperatists is living on another planet in terms of reality. A seperation would make them much more grounded out of necessity. Heck, I'd brush up on my French just to be able to watch the new replublics' nightly newscasts just for a larf or four.
-
Obviously you have spent zero time considering the consequences. Really? I have spent a life time with the consequencs that we face because they have NOT seperated. Who don't YOu tell us what would be so awful?
-
As a Canadian I hope they do seperate. Would make the ROC a much better country. And if Canada is divisiable, then PQ certainly is. Give them a country about the size of NB on the north side of the St L.

The 'Arro' was a good plane a could have been converted to an air superiority aircraft without too much trouble at all. The reason they cancelled the Arro was because it was too expensive and because the era of the bomber was coming to an end. It was designed to intercept russian bombers and they probably felt that converting them to air superiority aircraft would have cost too much money. Not the American's fault that the era of the bomber was ending and the era of the ICBM was coming. tragic loss as almost all of those talented engineers went and started workign with Boeing, Lockheed etc. -

Similar in Norway according to what guys from there have told me. Grenades to. Exactly. Gun control alone doesn't make a difference, and in fact, things can be done without gun control that are much more effective and don't infringe upon someone's freedom. Freedom for what? Firefights with the neighbours, random drive bys. Just think they have free and open gun ownership in Baghdad (grenades too)--really nice place to live....... Freedom to own firearms. What else?

I liked the GST as much as one can like a tax. it was up to retailers if they incorporated it into the price of things, not the government. I like it seperate. It's good people are reminded of it. I always disagree with the deficit but let's face it, Trudeau didn't leave him alot of choice. I didn't like the CF-18 contract going to PQ the same with him splitting the frigate contract to PQ along with SJ, NB.

I'm more right wing then left wing. I haven't said that there aren't environmental problems! In fact I said it was sad that 'global warming' is taking much needed action, funds and attention from truly worryign pollution like toxic waste, water management and smog. So now Brian Mulruney isn't a true conservative? haha oh my. Can a conservative do NOTHING right in your eyes? And I haven't seen ANYONE here say that there are no environmental problems.
