I hate the global warming fear mongering for one reason: That is that it takes attention AWAY from much more pressing issues such as wildlife corridor conservation and toxic chemicals being released willy nilly into all of our environments. Ironically (or not) Rona's last environmental decree was to control lead and mercury contamination from junked cars and other toxic substances. One could argue that the current obsession of 'global warming' will do more to harm our collective environment than to help heal it. That is why I am a sceptic. The last good thing to happen to Canada's environment was the ACID rain treaty - ironically brokered between two conservatives. Ironic if only you are into the 'group think' of today's 'progressives'. The biggest environmetal threat today is that of our Oceans - only because of the stuff that is now starting to wash off of our collective shores and also because of our massive overfishing - eaten sushie lately? (I have - I love it, but I keep in mind the effect of it) I am sad because of this misplaecement of our environmental resources. Why are we still washing down untreated sewage into our environment?

The same could be said for young people who initially support the NDp then get in the real world and tend toward the conservative side. Ultimately it comes down to being more individualy responsible. They could lose an election over it, yes. Harper has said that he is prepared to lose an election over it. It is a JUST mission even endorsed by the UN and it is necessary to do so in order to drag, kicking and screaming if need be, these people into the 21st century. 'Barbarians at the gate' is no longer tolerable to civilized society because of the relative easy access to modern weapons that can inflict great damage to others. That is why we are there and that is why we will stay. It's really as simple as that. Nice to have princilpled leadership for a change. Not governing by opinion polls for every decision. War is a bad thing but sometimes the alternative is even worse. That is how any logical thinking person should judge this conflict. Get behind our soldiers and support them. There are alot of shoulda's coulda's and woulda's to focus on. More troops to provide security is defenitely the way to go if they want to come to the preferable outcome. They were great at nwinning the war with less troops they just forgot about winning the peace which always takes alot of troops.

I just hope they continue to focus on real pollution instead of the golabl warming hysteria.

The problem is that most times Calgary isn't considered a 'major city'. Never heard of the survey you linked but most of these surveys are done by international corporations most of which do not have a major branch in cities the size of Calgary. Calgary got 2th on that one though, pretty good. I prefer the Maritimes, but I can guarantee you that Fredericton doesn't make any of these surveys.
