Personally, I am more than a little shocked that catchme didn';t liek this budget. LOL anyways, also, money for 6 new coast guard vessels. They were desperately needed. LOTS of detail in this budget. Oh, August, the Military spending was accounted for in last years budget if I remember correctly.

?? I like this policy. Using the tax system to encourage fule efficient vehicles? What is wrong with that? Also, it's not just for hybrids. it's for fuel efficient vehicles, period. ie: The Chevy Impala get's it. Trucks are not included in this category and are not subject to this. They are also setting aside money to get old clunkers off the road. About time. They are the worst.

Nice tax breaks for families. good to see. It's time the governmnet recognized how important families having children is to society. Hopefully this will go towards nudging up our birth rate. But next budget I really want to see some tax savings. Simple, concrete & significant income tax savings. I give this budget a 6/10. I fo hope the provinces stop whining about the funding gap now.

I thought it was nice that they are recognizing families for the value they give society. There were some good equipment tax incentives for manufactureers. Hopefuly this is the last of the 'fiscal imbalance' that we hear about. Overall I give it a 6/10. Next budget they need to reduce the rates of income tax. substantially. 'nuff said.

Or we could encourage a more self-sustaining birth rate through family friendly tax policies. I agree, our immigration, per capita, is too high. Canada does need a larger population though. For such a huge country we need the tax base in order to properly take care of it.

Why not ? As for the OP, I will not argue morals with anyone, mine are distinct from yours and likely many others on this baord. Laws should NOT be based on morals. Young people are drawn to the city because of opportunity. I bet the fertility rate of rural moms is better than that of urban moms. Maybe we need to have a way to encourage employers to locate in more rural areas. The internet was suppiosed to do that.. but so far? Oh, I meant in absolute terms. smalelr sized cities certainly are more liveable. Some people insist on having the ability to go to NHL game though, even if they don't actually go. I don't get it myself. Sometimes bigger isn't always better. Ask anyone who has lived in Calgary for the past 15 years.

Good question, but it is better for the environment to have large urban areas. However, is it better for us? Growing up in rural NB, it was a great place for a family. Who knows?
