gc is right here. Government spending is seriously outpacing economic growth. Government, perhaps. But not federal. 90% of the so called 'spending' in the budget was a download of money to the provinces to do with as they pleased. The government of Quebec decided to give a tax cut with it. This is simply the conservatives financially recognizing the reality of the BNA act of 1867.

Oh Jesus.. First of all, they had no idea what smallpox was and like jbg said, 95% of the natives died without even knowing 'whitey' was on the shores. They died because they had no agrictulture. So you're okay with the huge amount of spending for this year and next? I believe it is 9% and 9% again next year. Not spending, increasing the money to the provinces to correct the fiscal imbalance. By not spending it themselves it will help to clear the blur that exists in constitutional boundaries. The provinces are responsible for infrastructure etc. They can choose not to spend this and instead lower taxes. And they may.

Listen buddy. I showed you the fertility rates of any countries that you cared to look at. For the developed world the USA is the only country that has a self-sustaining birthrate. None of the others do. All the other countries pay significantly more in tax and also have appreciably more socialized day care. These are commonly known facts. cite it yourself.

It may be the cause of a decline from say 6 children for each family to 2... However, highly taxed countries correspond directly to a very low birthrate (under the replacement rate of 2.1). Ergo, your 'thesis' doesn't hold water.
