Well, if you consider torching buses, rioting and general anarchy not a big problem, then maybe it isn't. The washington times has picked it up and http://edition.cnn.com/2006/WORLD/europe/1...br.france.reut/ didn't read any mention of similar problems in Belgium. http://www.washtimes.com/world/20061026-102735-5331r.htm SEVRAN, France -- A year after riots swept across France, vehicles are again burning, clashes between police and mostly ethnic immigrant youths are mounting, and tension in gritty suburbs like Sevran is in the air. Gangs of youths torched four buses near the Paris suburbs late Wednesday after, in one case, forcing passengers off the vehicle at gunpoint, according to local reports. Youths have also attacked police with tear gas and weapons in recent weeks, sending at least one to the hospital.

It is the opposition parties who are obstructing the legislative agenda, therefore it is those MPs who are failing us, the electorate. Hopefully we'll have a spring election with a conservative majority then we can get some real law order, and accountability.

I agree Betsy, NAC is one example, thankfully their funding is drying up.

Is it time to throw out multiculturalism
scribblet replied to Leafless's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Why? Arthritis? Try tylanol, or at least get someone to do it for you.....but really, I don't see the connection? It is politically incorrect to fly the Red Ensign, part of revisionist history doncha know, have to bury all remnants of our British heritage - a historic link that multicult advocates seem to want erased. -
Not sure what you think we should do with all the people and where they should live, even as one liberal leadership contender proposes increasing immigration to 400,000 yearly. Oil depletion could be the end of civilization as we know it now, but we are working on it. The End of Suburbia sounds more like a lot of hypobele to me. Personally I like my large lawn, (well, not 100% of the time) garage and patio, and like the idea of an open bucolic private, setting and am aware of the tradeoffs I made but heck, who wants to live in a dirty dangerous city. My future doesn't rest with living in small dirty locales.

Is France still a functioning state, the situation there is worsening, but I havn't seen this reported in our MSM, has anyone else? http://news.scotsman.com/international.cfm?id=1587612006 France on new riot alert SUSAN BELL IN PARIS ON THE eve of the first anniversary of the worst rioting in France for almost 40 years, the prime minister visited a Paris suburb yesterday, amid widespread fears of renewed violence in the country's deprived housing estates. Speaking in Cergy-Pontoise, north-west of the capital, Dominique de Villepin refuted accusations that his centre-right government had failed to improve conditions in run-down areas. He pledged "exemplary" action against the gangs of hooded youths, some brandishing guns, who terrorised residents during attacks on four buses on Wednesday night. Michèle Alliot-Marie, the defence minister, has accused the youths involved of attempted murder. In Bagnolet, in eastern Paris, a dozen masked youths, five of them armed, torched a bus after one held a gun to the driver's head. The driver and passengers escaped unharmed. In Nanterre, west of the capital, hooded youths set a second bus ablaze, leaving ten passengers just enough time to escape. "Thankfully, there was nobody disabled on board, or it could have ended badly," a police official said.

Okay, I give up, US soldiers are committing rape and sexist rants about Belinda ? How informed are they about Belinda Stronach, I wouldn't think they would care enough about one of our MPs to make any sexist rants.

Do you trust the Ontario Lottery Corporation?

The OLG as far as I'm concerned should be charged with covering up and lying. First they had nothing - then wallah - oh yes we did....That old man had far more patience then I, thank goodness the police officer charged the store owners. I will be sure to write my name on all tickets from now on. -
Nice Try Yawn....ZZZZZZZ

CP: Mackay controversy flares anew
scribblet replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I agree, such a waste of time and money, obviously the liberals can't find anything more important to sqawk about. Very shallow on the Liberla's part indeed. How many threads on the same subject do we need anyway ? -
Belindy is just making hay out of it, just shows to go ya they don't have much else to carry on about. Small things amuse small minds I guess.

Sheez, you'd think there would be more important things to discuss in Parliament, and BTW, did Alexa M. ever apologize to Stockwell Day for calling him a cockroach ?

Liberals Using sexist Card via Stronach
scribblet replied to jefferiah's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I'm a bit taken aback at the ferocity of their attacks, surely there are more important issues than an inference to a dog - and it was only that, he actually didn't call her a dog. Guess they kind find much else to bark about. Either way, she should go back to her kennel and lie down. -
Then follows 140 or so names........... Now if we can get them ALL to sign it, that would be something....Harper could score a coup on this one LOL

Apparantly one part of his blog tells what would be in the next budget, several of those items were from confidential proposals being discussed in caucus- that is what got them angry enough to expel him. If this is true, then he did indeed violate caucus confidentiality, and deserves the boot. The Ontario caucus voted to expell him from their caucus and then brought the same motion to the entire party caucus which agreed.

Memorable Garth Turner quotes
scribblet replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
According to the Ontario Caucus chairman, Gord Brown the decision was not taken lightly: quote: "Caucus confidentiality is an important thing for our caucus. It allows us the ability to discuss issues within the caucus and there had been breaches of caucus confidentiality." Still, this is actually only a suspension, if Garth tries to keep a sock in it, he could get it you know how it oges - loose lips sinks ships. -
The Other Provinces During The Rae Era
scribblet replied to Remiel's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
And Harper will have how own record to defend. It certainly hasn't put him in majority contention yet. Of course, he is free to pull the plug now to see if he can do it. His record is pretty good so far, not to mention some decisive leadership for a change. The liberals will try probably successfully after Christmas break to bring down the gov't, get ready for another winter election. They are gearing up now. -
Actually, Turner is a Tory....Mackay was a Tory....the rest of them are CCRAPers who conned Canada into thinking they were the party of McDonald...and the Chief.......neo cons.....social cons.....they are far removed from Canada as possible What is a CCRAPer ? Is that some kind of insult not allowed here?

The Other Provinces During The Rae Era
scribblet replied to Remiel's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
The NCC will be ready to take on Bob Rae if he should win the leadership and remind him of his record as Ontario Premier. They call it Rae’s Ravings Liberal leadership candidate Bob Rae recently gave the National Citizens Coalition a plug. When asked by reporters if the Conservatives would attack his record as Premier, here's how he responded: "I think it absolutely wouldn't work and it would be about as relevant as my spending an entire campaign talking about Stephen Harper's career as president of the National Citizen's Coalition. I don't think that's what the next election is going to be about." Of course, Rae should remember the NCC. We are the ones who helped drive him out of office when his socialist agenda nearly ruined Ontario’s economy. If he becomes Liberal leader, we will have to remind the rest of Canada about that record. -
LOL Its that durned secret agenda doncha know, but as far as I know the CPC has nothing to hide, don't know about the 'Alliance/Cons' havn't seen their agenda yet.

Brampton-Springdale MP Ruby Dhalla Raccist!
scribblet replied to SamStranger's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The idea of language is to allow communications between people. Did you understand what was meant, even though it was gramarically correct? This is just a site where communication of ideas is the higher mission. Darn, and here I though: I was picketing with some friends...would be more grammatically correct BTW, did she actually say that ? -
The Ontario caucus voted on it, later on the National caucus also voted on it. Maybe they should have given him the Minister of Silly Walks position, keep him happy. I think its all sour grapes cos he was passed over for a ministership. There needs to be discipline in the caucus, and one doesn't bad mouth the PM and the party continually, and expect to get away with it.

Giving away company secrets, lack of discretion etc. etc. would get you bumped from any board room, he should have known better.
