Ontario Referendum Proportional Representation
scribblet replied to scribblet's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I'm not 100% sure on this. I'm wondering if we wouldn't be better to keep the current system for the house but adopt the prop. system for an elected Senate. Actually, after reading this I'm not sure I would vote for it, sounds like chaos. http://www.thestar.com/News/article/215600 I found a link here for a pr simulator http://www.wayneon.ca/democracy/PRSimulator/simulator.html -
Yeah - but not equally right - Hamas doesn't want peace and never has, at least they only want peace when Israel has gone. Maybe they will kill each other off with all the infighting. Mind you, there's little difference between Fatah and Hamas, Fatah plans to destroy Israel using the "phases plan" and Hamas just wants to destroy Israel suicide bombers and rockets, etc. Here's some quotes from Fagah http://www.netreach.net/~zoa/newsLinks/shockers/m96.htm Of course, the blame game has started now and all this infighting is 'Israel's fault' Benign actions my foot, now there's a statement that could be called willfully ignorant.

Liberals Consider Pledge to Hike GGT

A flat tax is the answer, at around maybe 17% for all, as long as all the loopholes are closed. -
Canadians Want Canada in Darfur
scribblet replied to southerncomfort's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
That would be my take on it too. Darfur would not be the 'traditional' type of peacekeeping role these Canadians think it will be, and not only that the NDP want Canada to take a lead role. -
And when they do we know what the response will be - ooohh Israel bad, Israel responded too harshly ooohh shoulda just hit em with a wet noodle and turn the other cheek.

CBC's take on altar boys blasphemy
scribblet replied to Leafless's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I doubt that a show such as this one would ever get made without huge amounts of public money including Catholics who pay taxes. A CBC spokesperson made excuses for their double standards, in particular the use of a consultant for one series, and not for this one with the usual bit about producing compelling programming and not be afraid yadda yadda. Sure, but we aren't likely to see young Muslims shooting craps on prayer mats or cartoons of Islam anytime soon I'm sure. As usual the CBC is selective with its programming and our money. -
Hmmm, I wonder who this would resonate with the voters, particularly as they have always been the party which promised to get rid of the GST. IMO it would be a bad move on their part. http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/news/st...bd-77fa6004fc86 Liberals consider pledge to hike GST Pay for income tax cuts OTTAWA - The Liberal party is debating whether it should pledge to reverse the $6-billion cut to the GST made by the Conservatives, as a means of funding broad-based income tax cuts. John McCallum, the party's finance critic, is understood to have pushed the idea of increasing the federal goods and services tax back to 7%. "It's an option. All I can say is that it is consistent with our approach. But I'm not about to say that the Liberal party will raise the GST because that's not been decided," he said in an interview from Paris, where he is attending an OECD meeting.

Ontario will be having a vote in October re Proportional rep. similar to that of the mixed MPP member prop. voting system used New Zealand, Germany, Scotland and Wales. This system will allow each voter to cast two votes: one for a preferred local candidate and one for a preferred party. Sounds pretty good but I wonder how much is being done to educate the voter on this new system; I was out yesterday with some folks and none of them were aware of it or had a clue what it was about. I'm not all that clear on it either. Does anyone have any stats to show what the Ontario leg. would look like had we had that system during the last election?

You have to take your tongue out of that cheek JBG, cos we know its not Israel's fault, its those darned dominionists (or A & P ists depending on where you live LOL )

Pretty poor analogy actually. If the Pals. spent their time on building greennhouses or building their infrastructure and economy instead of making bombs and indoctrinating their kids to become human bombs, they would be a lot better off now. Much of their situation is of their own making. All they have to do is quit bombing and killing Israelis (and themselves, and there would be more world aid to help them do that. As Golda Meir said: There will only be peace when they love their children more than they hate Israel.

U.S. healthcare expensive, inefficient

[quote[People who are quite evidently dominionists, as they are always spouting dominionist rhetoric and misinformation, and who try to pretend there is not dominionists, really should think about the 10 Commanments and bearing false witness. Though it is off topic, in order for clarity, as it is the Dominionists, who want our universal health care destroyed, and who purvey all the misinformation about it, I will provide information, just in case some really do not know. Best laugh I've had in weeks ROTFLMAO -
As far as I know, rather than cut gas taxes, they promised to cut the GST by two percentage points. The first cut, has already been made. The second percent is planned by 2011 at the latest.

I knew it, its all just a big misunderstanding, and all these http://www.openfire.us/blog/archives/image...ld-abuse-73.jpg little jihad children are simply misunderstood. Just little HaMasKateers that's all. Either way, they are still using a children's icon to preach the usual "death to the zionists" Strange how some people are falling all over themselves to side with terrorists

Oh Oh suspicions confirmed !! http://memri.org/bin/articles.cgi?Page=sub...had&ID=SP150807 In the past few months, Islamists engaged in "media jihad" have increased their efforts to expose as broad a Western audience as possible to their jihad films, which purport to document the growing success of the mujahideen in Iraq and Afghanistan. As part of this endeavor, they have posted jihad films on popular free video-sharing websites such as YouTube, LiveLeak, and Google Video, hoping that such films will tip public opinion in the West against the war in Iraq and Afghanistan - thus pressuring Western governments to withdraw their troops from these countries. As part of the campaign to foster anti-war sentiment among Westerners, and more specifically among Americans, a member of the Al-Mohajroon Islamist website with the username Al-Wathiq Billah instructed mujahideen in how to infiltrate popular American forums and to use them to distribute jihad films and spread disinformation about the war. The following are excerpts: [1] "Raiding American Forums is Among the Most Important Means of Obtaining Victory in the Fierce Media War… and of Influencing the Views of the Weak-Minded American"

U.S. healthcare expensive, inefficient
scribblet replied to Catchme's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Is it not true, that by law, hospitals cannot turn away patients in need of emergency care, regardless of their ability to pay. -
If children are hurt by Israelis it is accidental because the terrorist scum hide among the women and children. It is not by a systematic targeting unlike Hamas who's policy is that Israelis should be exterminated, and wiped off the map. Hamas glorifies terror role-modeling for children, not to mention that the terrorist scum train their kids to become homicide bombers. hmmm minor little detail there we forgot.

Dominionists is a new term (well a new meaning to the term) which is meant as derogatory stereotyping of a particular group of people - (Christians) for polemic reasons, and bear little resemblance to reality. Harper is not dismantling health care in any way shape or forum, that is simply not true. Again please provide proof that he is dismantling the system. He has given more money, its up to the provinces to handle health care, not the Feds, some provinces are trying to act on the wait times issue. Throwing more money in the hat to try to reduce wait times means more doctors, not enough doctors is part of the bottle neck. If they had an incentive to make more money in private clinics we might get some of them back from the U.S. Our current socialistic adherence to providing everything to everybody beggars us all, as it is the major dis-incentive to productivity, and therefore prosperity. This constant Liberal fear mongering shows one thing, that Liberals or NDP have nothing new to offer, same old same old. Better hope that Harper doesn't tax tin-foil too heavily. -

Please enlighten us on how Harper is intent on destroying our health care system, please quote policy and legislation. -
So far still no proof that Israel deliberately targets children nor that it is State policy. Strange and ridiculous how Hamas supporters manage to get quite defensive about Hamas tactics and deflect all criticism of state policy and terrorism by pointing out an evangelical video game or try to deflect it by blaming it all on Israel. Just what is Israel supposed to do against Hamaz or Hezbollah daily rocket attacks - maybe they should just stage a sit-down protests along the borders, perhaps and sing Hava Nagila or what. Supporting Palestinian state terrorism and genocidal intent will will only increase their hope and ability to achieve their longstanding goal of obliterating Israel.
