Wonder what the outcome of this will be.... http://www.cbc.ca/canada/montreal/story/20...ort-070529.html Quebec referendum report due to drop political bomb A retired Quebec judge will table a report on Tuesday afternoon that will reveal whether millions of federal dollars went illegally to the "No" campaign during the 1995 referendum — a revelation that could prove explosive amid the ongoing political crisis in Quebec. Judge Bernard Grenier's long-awaited report looks into allegations that $3.5 million was funnelled from Ottawa to bolster the federalist side during the 1995 referendum on Quebec's sovereignty via a group called Option Canada. The Montreal-based lobby group was created to promote "linguistic duality" and was not supposed to be directly involved in the referendum campaign. However, the allegations are that the organization broke electoral rules and channelled $3.5 million to the "No" side's budget, which was limited to $5 million.

Extremely telling !! I suppose Israel is supposed to turn the other cheek and stand idly by while their citizens are slaughtered. Meanwhile Israel Helps its enemies as the rockets rain down on them. A Magen David Adom ambulance transferred an eight-day-old Palestinian baby from Gaza to the Sheba Medical Center in Tel Hashomer Sunday evening. This humanitarian act took place during one of the more difficult days in terms of Qassam launchings, during which a 36-year-old Oshri Oz was killed in Sderot http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7...405293,00.html

BS - so its not 'dehumanizing' for women to be beaten by authorities for not wearing the right scarf, you people who are arguing about this think its okay - shaking my head over this one So by those lites, it is also okay for them to execute teenagers because they are homosexuals and against their societal norms.

Islamic Jihad Sending Female Suicide Bombers
scribblet replied to scribblet's topic in The Rest of the World
Funny stuff LOL I wonder, 72 magical elves - now maybe if it was that elf from Lord of the Rings, what's his name - (he's in Pirates of the Carib.) it would be a bit of allright -
I think anyone can spot the distortions by those who hate Israel too, not to mention their exaggerations and misrepresentations. This is a case of pot - black

Darn, no equality here for female suicide bombers - served by dwarfs - are there that many dwarfs in paradise? http://www.suntimes.com/news/steyn/402407,...steyn27.article Mark Steyn reports on oddities in the news: In Gaza, Islamic Jihad is planning to send waves of female suicide bombers into action against the Zionist Entity. Asked by an Israeli reporter whether self-detonating ladies enjoy the same 72-virgin deal as the lads, an Arab scholar said no, but that the gals will be served in Paradise by "dwarfs."

Because there are those who will always want to tie Canada's actions to the U.S. in order for them to continue the facade of 'Harper = Bush' you know how it goes.

Not to mention that the Prime Minister is doing his job, if he didn't provide moral support what would be said then? Taliban terrorists also target our rebuilding efforts because they don't want to see Afghans enjoy a quality of life that they don't care about. If we are serious about helping Afghans live in freedom, we have to fight for it. The opposition ranks in our Parliament are schizophrenic in their support for the UN and its efforts. Meanwhile they demand that Canada act at once to meet its commitments under the Kyoto protocol irrespective of the costs to our economy and society, they want to dodge and escape from our commitment to the UN and to NATO for rebuilding Afghanistan. They claim the price is irrelevant in one case and too high in the other. More double standards. edited for spelling

Revealed: UK schools divided on race lines
scribblet replied to Leafless's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
It sounds similar to mandatory busing in the U.S. to integrate its schools which is now recognized as a failure. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/politics/6695801.stm Some schools would be able to select pupils by race in order to improve community relations under plans being considered by the Conservative Party. Shadow education secretary David Willetts said city academies could use racial selection to unite communities divided by race or religion -
Higgly blustered : "However, if your grandparents were murdered, their bank accounts seized and handed over, and their artworks sold to the highest bidder, you have a legitimate grievance. Is that not correct, thieving murderous baby-killer?" To whom are you referring as a thieving murderous baby-killer and how does it add to the fun in Lebanon ?
-
Are you saying it's a human right to dress any way you please? Its a human right for a woman not to be beaten and arrested for not wearing a veil or a hijab which is too 'thin'. Simple freedoms that we take for granted in the west are not allowed women in the M.E. Even fewer rights are accorded homosexuals, but that's okay, as long its not Israel doing it. You criticize Israel but find nothing wrong with barbaric inhumane practices in other countries !!!

Iran Orders Secret War against US and UK
scribblet replied to M.Dancer's topic in The Rest of the World
What is with everyone's funky new spellings of al-Qaeda? Is it Spanish ? -
Oh golly gee, I guess we shouldn't worry about human rights abuses anywhere then, including Darfur.

So far, what we did get was the Tories raising income taxes to fund their GST cut. You forgot about the numerous other tax cuts, and considering many competing interests that have to be deatl with in a minority gov't. he did pretty good. You also forgot to mention that all they did was reverse a cut that the Liberals only introduced immediately prior to the election in order to garner votes.

Gee, what can anyone say to this..... http://www.thememriblog.org/blog_personal/en/1656.htm Male and female police officers clashed with women who were not dressed according to the Islamic dress code. The clashes, which took place at Haft Tir Square in Tehran, came during the current Iranian security forces campaign to enforce the dress code. One girl who refused to get into the police car was beaten by police, and removed from the area by civilians who were called to the scene. http://unclemeat.wordpress.com/2007/05/21/...minists-silent/ video here

Who are you referring to as a thieving murderous baby-killer? I just read but havn't confirmed it, that "A senior Lebanese official, speaking on condition of anonymity has said that Hizbullah started building a new set of bunker systems, this time in Palestinian refugee camps. "The Lebanese Army doesn't have the authority to patrol inside the camps," said the official. "Hizbullah knows it is safe there to rebuild their war bunkers, and they began doing so with Iranian help."

The Palestinian terrorists are saying they're ready to die as martyrs - well hey no problem there folks. ttp://www.dailystar.com.lb/article.asp?edition_id=1&categ_id=2&article_id=82522 A spokesman for the Fatah al-Islam militant group said that members of the group were "ready to die" as the Lebanese Army resumed shelling of militant positions Thursday evening, ending a truce that had largely held since Tuesday afternoon. "We are ready to die," Abu Salim Taha told The Daily Star in a telephone interview." find it remarkable an Arab army can shell a refugee camp and without provoking the usual screams of hysteria from the media - too bad they don't give the same leeway to Israel and western armies when they fight similar terrorist groups. The Lebanese army is saying ' your wish is my command' LOL the army has it right: " We hold Fatah al-Islam responsible for everything that ... might take place if it resumes attacks on our positions and continues to use Palestinian civilians as human shields," Still wondering if Hezbollah is going to stay out of it or at some point take advantage of the situation.

Wow. That's about the last thing Steve's political history would make me think. His record is a litany of bashing virtually everything Canadian, in favor of virtually anything American. I don't see Harper 'bashing everything Canadian', thats pretty much an incredible statement LOL

Patronage Appointments for Land Claims
scribblet replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Maybe they need a shakeup in this area, we know the natives aren't happy with the land claims progress. Its time for some changes and this is just a start. -
I think the French pay about 20% of their gross salary – ( self-employed paymore) deducted at sourceto pay for their Sécurité sociale.
