And if Mulroney wins again, as he likely will, he could sue again costing the taxpayers more money.

You know conservatives who use viagra LOL they tell you that do they - more nonsense.

ROTFLMAO - Get with the party, what is repulsive is a drive by smear trying to unsuccessfully to tie in Harper with evangelical con men LOL Attempting to demonize the Tories as religious zealots doesn't cut it any more - we need new ones. e.g. "Harer is a kitten-eating aliens" " Tories are Flesh-eating amphibians" or here's new one "Tories are viagra-using energy wasters"
-
You've lost me, what does not choosing to watch evangelical television have to do with how your family votes. As a matter fact, I don't watch any of them, not my cuppa tea.

I wondered what the point of this is also, I've heard of Hagee, but I never watch him... who cares what he says, just flip the channel.

Did the Conservative cheat taxpayers?
scribblet replied to Topaz's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Good for Ibotson, I love this one: that if the Conservatives were guilty of operating an "electoral laundromat," as Liberal Dominic LeBlanc has asserted, by passing off national advertising as local campaigns, then the Liberals, NDP and Bloc were also up to their elbows in soap suds. The only difference appears to be that they had their expenses reimbursed by Elections Canada without a quibble. better get the bleach out too !! -
Is this a waste of Iranian money or what... beats building an economy and feeding people I guees. http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7...468747,00.html Hamas to build Hollywood-style media city in Gaza Though its people are struggling to make ends meet, Hamas officials are busy worrying about raising funds for the ambitious project to turn Gaza into a movie-making emporium. First in the production order is a film based on a novel penned by hardliner Mahmoud Zahar It's a tale worthy of its own movie script: The Gaza Strip's isolated and cash-strapped Hamas rulers plan to build a $200 million media city and movie production house that will be part tourist attraction and part effort to cement control of the territory it seized by force in June. So far, though, the Islamic group has raised only a tiny fraction of the money it needs for its own Hollywood, at a time when the Gaza economy has ground to a standstill and its people are struggling to feed themselves because of Israeli and international sanctions against Hamas. Even so, Hamas envisions a glittering facility with production and graphics studios, satellite technology, gardens, water ponds, a children's entertainment area and an array of cafes and restaurants, said the Felasteen daily, a Hamas paper. -snip- The first movie Hamas plans to shoot will be based on a novel by one of its hard-line leaders in Gaza, Mahmoud Zahar, the report said. Zahar has written seven novels, including a 1980 romance called ''Beautiful Woman.'' A movie is also planned about Izzedine al-Qassam, an admired preacher who led Palestinian riots in the 1930s against the British and Jews in Palestine. Hamas' military wing is named for the charismatic leader. (and here I thought the Palestinians only started attacking Israelis in 1967 in response to the "occupation." )

Toronto School Board eyes "Afro-centric" school
scribblet replied to g_bambino's topic in Local Politics in Canada
Are they recent immigrant groups - and if so if the what they want is African-centred school, why come here? When my son was in a Scarborough high school, he was the only white kid in his class one year, and I'll bet, there aren't too many schools in Toronto that have a majority white classroom. They might have a case though considering that there are schools for natives only and a gay and lesbian focused school, and a separate school for Catholics. Heck, the board allready runs Africentric summer camp near Jane and Finch. Asian immigrant children seem to do okay, in fact, very well, so maybe it's about the students and their parents taking responsibility for their actions and attitudes towards learning. -

A totally bad idea; by segregating students of "colour" it just perpetuates the myth that they cannot compete, that they are not up to the standards of other people. It is time to concentrate on individual responsibility, to tell these students that they have settle down, study and learn like everyone instead of making excuses. We cannot support race based schools !!! -
Harper anxious about loonie's 'rapid' surge
scribblet replied to Leafless's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Errr no, my hat isn't a tinfoil one either. "Patricia Croft, VP and chief economist for Phillips, Hager and North Investment Management Ltd., said the loonie's continued rise remains due to the increase in oil prices and the bottom falling out of the U.S. dollar. "Those two factors are putting the Canadian dollar on fire," Croft told CTV Newsnet on Monday. "Today we have record oil prices, so that's part of the story, but the other element is the weaker U.S. dollar." -

How best to defend our values against Suicide Bombers?
scribblet replied to August1991's topic in The Rest of the World
Canada was founded on the judeo Christian principles, but has become more diverse, however Christians still remain the largest religious group in Canada, by a large margin, although on the decline. (2001 Census) The concept of separation of Church and State is actually American, although I think it meant keeping the State out of the church - and no such provision exists in the Canadian Constitution. No gov`t is or has proposed imposing religious dogma on the public, nothing has changed, or is going to. -
I tend to agree somewhat...Mulroney should speak up and clear the air. However, conservatives shouldn`t take the bait, it`s a civil matter, and after all, the Liberals are empty, they have nothing to offer so can only sling mud and use fear and smear tactics.
-
Not sure why this gov't should be investigating a former PM, unless they intend to investigate all of the other shady dealers. The last time the Liberals tried this tack, it cost Canadian taxpayers $2.1-million, for nothing. Actually, Mulroney is a private citizen and not part of this government, so any questions about allegations made by one person of another in a civil case are inappropriate in the House. The conservatives should respectfully decline to take the bait being offered by scandal mongering skanks.

So its a pejorative, which has no bearing on today's party and actually against the board rules.

How best to defend our values against Suicide Bombers?
scribblet replied to August1991's topic in The Rest of the World
They didn't 'found' what we have now, but they are welcome to become part of it and be equal citizens along with all of us. As an aside, did anyone watch TVO last night with Steve Paiken? The subject was something about 'dissecting multiculturalism', the ads showed a clip about the Muslim village. It was too late for me to watch but am interested in hearing any comments on it. -
A whole lot of fuss over nothing, if this guy were in a country with no due process or had no access to a fair trial, Canada would intervene. You can bet your sweet bippy that if Smith were brought back to Canada to serve out the rest of his sentence, he would likely be back on the streets in months. After all, Canada's maximum for first degree murder is 25 yrs, of which Smith has served 20 years allready Smith has said he'd like to come back home to Canada, and get on with his life.. yup - I bet he would. Considering that Smith is from Alberta, he'd probably get the same nincompoops that let the re-captured Cancer Con-man out on bail. Harper's looking better all the time !

Enlighten me as to what a 'reformative' is.

How best to defend our values against Suicide Bombers?
scribblet replied to August1991's topic in The Rest of the World
It is not far fetched, and IMO it is also a safe bet that an increasing number of Canadians are becoming opposed to "official multiculturalism". which is a big difference . It kinda seems like officially they want to kick our founding identity and culture under the rug. Even Trudeau recognized our history amd Judeo-Christian values. as he left the word God from in the Constitution. Canada's laws whether you like it or not are based on Judeo-Christian principles with an attempt to blend French and British cultures. We acknowledge and respect diversity but also need to ensure that our common Canadian values are upheld. -

scribblet replied to August1991's topic in The Rest of the World
Well, equality for one... Canada's founding culture and ethics are primarily based on Judea/Christian principles, British/French rule of law and a parliamentary democracy - really - that's usually why so many people want to come here. We accept multiculturalism as a fact of life now, but not all cultures are of equal benefit to canada. For instance, would you want to see a caste system here, or Syria's legal system, or would you prefer that gays be executed? -
