Well said argus.... there was no fraud, or intent to commit fraud, simply a difference of opinion and accounting practices on how these very unclear rules can be applied.( which a lower court accepted). Some people in their haste to smear the CPC will jump on anything then blow it out of proportion. This also speaks to the issue of your other thread. As for the 'many things that Harper does' - what a crock - you think Harper okays everything,or advises all the EDAs...

I haven't read up on the proposed pension reform but will as soon as I can so can't comment on how good or bad it is, I'm no financial expert either. There's a summary here http://links.visibli.com/share/71eae7 and other stuff here http://opinion.financialpost.com/2010/12/17/future-retirees-to-find-it-harder-to-replace-75-of-working-incomes/ We never had 75% of our working income but have managed to live decently including some travel, I must say that the pension splitting for seniors has helped us a lot. Maybe we should all get various informed opinions before dumping all over it.

I tend to agree with Argus, the forum ain't what she used to be... Mind you, considering that Canada is ticking along quite nicely there's not a whole lot to complain about. It's quite an accomplishment on Harper's part just to keep a minority gov't going, not to mention he did us all a favour getting us out of that dreadful kyoto agreement and has managed the economy very well in a global recession. So... what else is there but to worry about trivialities

Harper becomes rocker at Xmas party

I can't imagine any politician today turning himself into Elvis - there was only one of him. Kudos to Harper for his musical abilities and having fun, wish I could play half as well. -

Or, some in command who might have a problem with a gay soldier, would deliberately put them on the front lines or in danger. I fear that they might become siting ducks for those who have a problem with the issue. Maybe not, hope it doesn't happen. -

Will Sun TV News be Good or Bad for Canadian Democracy?
scribblet replied to shelphs's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The thing is you see, we don't know because we haven't seen it yet, but I believe Coren has been approached so he may know a tad more than all the spin doctors on here do. All in all though, it can only strengthen democracy. -
Can be seen on TV, where can I see it, thought it wasn't until next year - never mind the heads will keep on exploding and the frothing will keep on - well - frothing :D sorta like that Guardian article a while ago that got it all wrong, you guys must be writing for them. 'faux' hytperbole - now that's cute

Will Sun TV News be Good or Bad for Canadian Democracy?
scribblet replied to shelphs's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Sounds like it... LOL just more kids stomping their feet and having a tantrum over - gasp - shock - a TV program with a - gasp- conservative slant. as Michael Coren said: Sun TV News couldn’t buy this kind of publicity and once again the left have shown their useful idiot qualities and displayed that combination of hypocrisy and misunderstanding of the popular will that has made them such electoral giants. Every time another liberal type screams that this will be Fox North and that the right will dominate it and that it’s just not fair, the people in charge at Sun TV News open another bottle of their Bollinger Bolshevik and Champagne Socialist booze. The station is going to happen. Just like the CBC it will have certain biases. Unlike the CBC it will not be as crass in displaying them and you won’t have to finance the people who make and present the shows. -
Exactly LOL the hysteria and misinformation over this is amazing, how quickly they rush to condemn something never seen based on misinformation and assumptions. Never mind, Warren Kinsella should make it all right LOL

What went on in MP Kelly Block office?
scribblet replied to Topaz's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If all background checks and references etc. are good who knows what can happen. The gov't isn't a mess, it's doing fine, no gov't is without some staffing problems. Nothing here you can blame or lay on a Tory. What guy should learn - what from Jaffer. He started out as an aide to Liberal MP Dennis Mills, then later became an excellent Reform MP, the first Muslim MP in the Reform Party for that matter, a real immigrant success story. What happened and why he went off the rails I've no idea, who would foresee that happening 15 years ago. -
You mean the Liberal party that needs saving, from itself LOL

Tin foil hat time LOL He was caught doing something wrong, he's fired and dealt with, the opposition is simply looking for blood where there isn't any. -
Like you all really know what's happening, none of us do..suppposition all of it. Never mind, Iggy will huff and puff and blow the house down, without even knowing what's in the budget. LOL
-
Yup, of course only your opinion is correct, I should've known that one LOL No one is saying they are as important or the equivalent, but the moral aspect of publishing private correspondence without consent is the same.

Looks good on him, wonder how he feels now about his private and personal correspondence made public LOL

Party switching is alive and well in Louisiana as seen by the recent defections of two prominent Democrats, State Sen. John Alario of Westwego, and State Sen. John Smith of Leesville to the Republican Party, and by the recent news that another well known Democrat, Rep. Noble Ellington of Winnsboro, saying that he is 95 percent sure that he will switch to the GOP. http://www.thetowntalk.com/article/20101215/OPINION03/12150305
