  1. This is from the propaganda arm of the NDP, but I'm sure many liberals will feel the same. Will, or should this result in a minimum income and if so how will it be paid for. I agree there needs to be an overhaul of LTC homes but should they all be nationalized, should private care homes be taken over by gov't, cos we all know how well gov't does in these things. I do not see how this can happen in the near future as we will be in for higher taxes and yes, severe austerity from the gov't, but will Trudeau reign in the spending as he will have to? https://pressprogress.ca/big-majority-expects-major-social-reforms-and-transformation-of-canadian-society-after-covid-19/ Most Canadians agree the pandemic reveals ‘ugly truths’ about Canada and expect major social reforms focused on ‘health and well-being’ The next federal election could shape up to be a battle over what the “new normal” in Canadian society should look like after COVID-19. According to new polling from EKOS, a clear majority of Canadians agree that the pandemic has exposed “ugly truths” about how workers and the elderly have been treated in Canada under the old status quo. Three-quarters (73%) of Canadians said they now expect a “broad transformation of our society” as a result of the pandemic, with a majority saying they expect to see major social reforms that prioritize “health and well-being.”
  2. So, someone had a 'vision' so they have to continue with their ceremonies --- do not come on 'our land' to tell us otherwise.   Okay - when you have an outbreak and need health care don't come on 'our land' to get care and money.

You agree that they should not follow protocols... and if the virus breaks out, who should help

If they already closed down to outsiders, they don't need the RCMP to get heavy on them for doing a pow wow within their community. I oppose government heavy-handedness, for anything like this. It is not unlike my situation at work, where managers write long flowing emails about the standards of practice for minimizing exposure. Then when I call them and ask what to do about it, I have no PPE, they are stupified. Big speeches about safety one thing, providing the goods is another.

So when the government or employer tells me I have to abide, I put it back to them. I cannot abide by your plan, there is no PPE. And you give me no other choice but to shut down. So you stay out. This is my family here. When you come in here, you are the outsider. (to gov't)

  3. Doug Ford has been doing very well, I support him and will accept a lockdown until June 2, but after that... no... they have to lift it gradually.
  4. There's a video showing him going into a building that appears to be under construction, but nothing else, even if he was a burglar they had no cause to kill him.
  5. Trudeau's Acting Auditor General spilled the beans that Trudeau has cut funding so the Auditor General cannot  perform the required tasks. Trudeau was asked why today, but  avoided answering by deflecting to Harper.  Trudeau then fires the Acting Auditor General and appoints  someone else.

  6. The Canadian Civil Liberties Association says that they don't believe police or cities have been given the power to limit travel to your own private property (like a cottage) or through a jurisdiction. Their view is it is unconstitutional to do so .
  7. from twitter:  You know we're at peak woke when Bryan Adams has to apologize for condemning the torture and abuse of animals in a Communist country that operates concentration campus for an entire religious minority and harvests the organs of political prisoners.

    1. Argus

      Argus

He didn't HAVE to apologize. Bryan Adams is a left wing pussy who saw his fellow members of the woke brigade criticizing him and of course, humbly bowed his head and recanted.

  8. CPC is far from Reform or even the Alliance, and Manning is obviously not a commie. The social credit party is no longer around and I believe it was only B.C. so really is irrelevant to this debate.
  9. No, they did not get a mandate as it is ony a minority gov't, the CPC got more votes than the Liberals, but yes, I'm hoping with another leader there will be some decent opposition.
  10. Hindu Canadians are being calls ‘islamophbic’ for opposing the loudspeaker jihad launched by Mosques and Mullahs in Canada https://medium.com/@harbir/hindus-arent-bigots-canada-you-re-ignorant-and-foolishly-arrogant-e0b10f9f864 And the battle over mosque loudspeakers heads to court. 11. They are not about to elect MacKay, internal polls are showing differently. We don't have a social credit party running federally, so not sure what that means. IMO a lot of people are in favour of banning these guns but not in the manner in which it was done, it would have a lot more credibility if they had gone through debate and Parliament. Trudeau does have a good chance of winning again because opposition has to be careful about attacking Trudeau during an emergency, no matter what they say and do it will be spun in a more negative light, and the media is in Trudeau's pocket. His morning pressers where CBC is given more questions and media are hand picked, are not a substitution for Parliamentry debate. Why do you think Trudeau doesn't want Parliament to convene, he's better off not in the light avoiding accountability, the last time it met he wasn't there anyway, even though at least one media outlet showed a picture of him.
  12. I don't think much about the subjects recently, they really are odd... agree, ignore them, do not respond.
  13.

Trudeau doesn't want the lockdown to end as he can continue to usurp democracy, accountability and Parliament. Questions only allowed from from his bought and paid for unelected fawning media.

    1. Army Guy

      Army Guy

I thought he had all of that before the pandemic, there has never been accountability, see SNC scandal, or the countless others, lets not even mention having to see the ethics commissionaire twice....and he only showed up on Fridays to answer question , and then never really said anything

He's pledged 850 million to WHO which I'm pretty sure is not in the budget so therefore needs to go before Parliament.  He really is getting away with sh.t as the media never asks the hard questions.

  14. Using an O in C for something as large and controversial as this is, while refusing to convene Parliament to debate the issue, is dictatorial, so yeah, he acting like a dictator right now. Confiscating tens of millions of dollars of private property with the stroke of a pen, without going to Parliament in the middle of a public-health emergency while only a minority gov't is not only dictatorial but sneaky and conniving among other things
  15. Not so, even Trudeau admitted that the majority of crimes were committed with illegal guns Liberals know their gun ban won’t work -- from their own study of the issue last year which concluded: “The vast majority of owners of handguns and of other firearms in Canada lawfully abide by requirements, and most gun crimes are not committed with legally-owned firearms. https://www.publicsafety.gc.ca/cnt/cnslttns/hndgn/index-en.aspx Not too mention, the Chilean mortar m57 was never imported to Canada but made the liberals prohibited list, just more deception/ Matt Gurney, writing in the National Post, said the Liberal legislation “banned” some guns, ignored others and called it a day, without making Canadians any safer. Exactly.
  16. When did anyone last hear church bells, I haven't heard any in years. You won't hear Salvation Army bells at Christmas either because that's not allowed. There are already a couple of petitions against this intrusion, not to mention freedom 'from' religion petitions.

  18. Some common sense from Amsterdam and they are right, no need for loudspeaker to remind people to pray, there's an app for that. https://www.irishtimes.com/news/world/europe/amsterdam-refuses-mosque-s-request-for-loudspeaker-call-to-prayer-1.4067260
  19. Trudeau said yesterday that people who own certain weapons in Canada have ONE purpose - to kill people, but then he turns around and exempts aboriginals. They are allowed to own guns whose only purpose is to kill people –does that make sense.
  20. Context.. okay how about the average female walking around in public, do you think arms and legs should be fully covered even in the summer?
  21. If you are looking for pure entertainment on Netflix, check out Merlin, I'm loving it. Course, the two young actors are not hard on the eyes. :)-
  22. Elizabeth May has her knickers in a knot for sure and the left wing Guardian wants it banned. I'm no fan of Moore as he does manipulate and edit information to suit his agenda, he probably did with this, however, I love that he has the left in a frenzy.
  23. As per Senator Housakis: Capitalizing on a national tragedy in the middle of a worldwide crisis, subverting parliament while doing absolutely nothing to address the actual problem in order to curry political favour is quite a crass partisan feat but that’s exactly what Justin Trudeau has done. My question is, what can the opposition do? This is a minority gov't, if they had a majority I'd say nothing, but this is I think unprecedented, yet the media seems oblivious and are willing to enable him. I just donated to Canada Proud who say they are going to fight it, don't know how, but there must be something to be done, maybe the S.C. The opposition did stop him from an enormous power grab earlier, but this is the reason he doesn't want Parliament to sit, he just holes up in his home plotting dictatorial moves during a crisis. How anyone can support these moves is beyond me.
  24. Trudeau and Blair used the terrible tragedy in N.S. which was committed by an unlicensed criminal with illicit firearms, to push through a non evidence based law by by-passing democracy and Parliament. Yes other leaders have used an O in C for other legislation, but this is a minority gov't exploiting a tragedy and pandemic resulting in Parliament not sitting. Non evidence as they have not provided us with a shred of evidence that this will stop criminals from using illegal guns. Even if you are no fan of guns, every Canadian should be outraged that our democracy is being subverted and that their government is lying to them about what their actions will accomplish. Why is the gov’t stating that military grade firearms are available in Canada legally when they are not, automatic weapons as used by the military are allready banned. The magazine size and capabilities of military weapons are allready prohibited in Canada.
