The time could and possibly will come when someone will plant a flag on a major northern island, claim it and it will belong to them. We could not take it back. we will whine to the UN and there will be 20 years of argument that produces nothing and the new owner will just keep developing it. And no I am not too worried about the little island and the disagreement with Denmark - we could solve that with typical Canuck talk - and give it to them which is probably what will happen. Oil, natural gas, iron ore, copper, molybdenum and more. Already there are issues with those islands and the waters surrounding them. What is under them, in them and on top of them will become very important over time and a few Inuit Rangers will not do the job. We have nothing to hold those islands other than the colour on a map. The new owners will militarize it - heavily. It would be their nature to do this. I am quite surprized at the lack of knowledge here - or perhaps I should say denial. Because some find it a nice place to vacation they will say it is a place where "I have never had a problem" Which in itself is a typical Canuckleheaded response. Jack What you may not know. smallc was born with a very large silver spoon in his mouth - it provides him with his "unique" aspect on the economy. Myata Cut out the bull schitte in government and you can cut taxes to the hilt. Cut out the handouts to the international community and you can cut taxes. Just another drive by script here: Fact is Canada is a pretty decent country overall - but it has started to decay. No one is guilty. No one is responsible. And the country must pay for every special interest group. Quite frankly this forum is going the way of the country. We need a polarization for the country - and I have no idea what it might be. If a federal government will not enforce the laws of the land the state will. And the state will take that right if it believes it is forced to do so. The people of that state elected their officials to do a job and that state has the right to do as it believes proper.
