Should 8YO girls go topless?..should boys?
Black Dog replied to Hal 9000's topic in Sex and Gender Issues
Only if you think there's something intrinsically dirty about the human body. -
Say, what happened to the defense of the Confederacy you promised? I was really looking forward to the laugh.

I'd like to see Quebec get a team one way or another. Seattle is a tough one because they don't have an arena. Las Vegas is a brutal idea.

We all know there are creeps in the world. I asked how you know someone is jacking it to pictures of your kid specifically (which is what you said). -
Butterfly tramp stamp.

PoTAYto poTAHto. How do you know this? We're not talking about naked here. Given that we live in a world where women and girls are routinely judged/shamed for wearing too many clothes/not enough clothes, I think it's worth having a conversation about why these things are. -
But it's not a given that he would have figured out an alternative or even been so committed to it if he didn't have a really really easy means of carrying it out. And if he had found another way, there's no guarantee the results would have been as lethal. And pretty much all of those sensible gun policies would be considered intolerable violations of individual rights to the American gun lobby. This is true, but also beside the point.

So it is about fear, then. Why is it private though? Yeah, the '80s stranger danger hysteria messed up a lot of people's perception of risk, but some people are trying to correct the imbalance in their own kids. -
It's interesting how every thread on the subject of gun violence gets hijacked and dragged down by technical minutia. Also that posters who can spout technical specs of various firearms can't actually articulate the kinds of policies they'd like to see to address the supposed underlying issues that make America so violent (even though the United State's overall crime rate is comparable to those of other industrial nations).

Touching yes, but look at them? Give me a break. Plus, we're talking about 8 year olds: they don't often have anything to look at. When you tell a kid their (non-existent, non sexual) body parts need to be hidden, you're telling them they have something to be ashamed of, that there's something wrong with their bodies. -

Yup. The sooner they learn their bodies are filthy the better amirite? -
I see a lot people who are parents getting tattoos. The "edge" is gone.

Kinda interesting breakdown of post 9/11 terror attacks in the U.S here.
-
I fully expect to be one of the only people in my nursing home without a sleeve tat. That could always change though.

It 100% was.

Re-read whiat I wrote, then try again. Yes you care not for poverty reduction or mental health. It's a fig leaf you strokers put on whenever talk turns to sensible gun policies. That's not his claim. Lott's claim is killers choose targets based on whether or not there will be guns there. here's what he said last week on Fox: This is simply farcical on its face. Mass murderers choose their locations not on the basis of guns but based on the presence of the people they want to shoot. -link- This has nothing to do with the point about survivability as unsuccessful suicide attempts are not captured by these figures. So should we compare the U.S. to the likes of Iraq and Somalia? Apples to apples. Which is made a lot easier when you have ready to access to firearms. BTW, where do you think the Mexican cartels get their guns? It's not from Canada. It's foolish to suggest stringent gun laws will stop all gun crime. And no one has.
-
The link you provided doesn't say anything to support the last half of your claim. Conservatives don't like criminals. They don't care much for doing anything about it beyond banging them up in jail. Lots of people already have. He's pretty well discredited. But they didn't and they don't, so this is just another red herring. Many people who attempt suicide with other methods will fail and not try again. With guns, they seldom get a second chance. And then you can continue to do what you are doing for poverty and mental health: absolutely nothing. My "ilk" will have to because your ilk certainly won't. I love the idea that rates of violent crime aren't inextricably tied to access to the tools of the trade. What no Switzerland? Compared with other high-income countries, the United States has a homicide rate 6.9 times higher, a difference driven almost exclusively by firearm homicide rates that are 19.5 times higher. There was a significant positive correlation between guns per capita per country and the rate of firearm-related deaths. This is data, not cherry picked anecdotes. We haven't failed. Canada, like most civilized countries, regulates firearms and enjoys a successful balance between the good of society and the legitimate needs of farmers and hunters and saddo gun fetishists alike.
-
John Lott? LOL I was talking about gun deaths. Those other 10,000+ people are still dead. At least try to conceal your erection here. Every other civilized country has more effective gun control and less gun crime as a result. The only difference is those other countries don't have a culture of gun strokers who deem tens of thousands of deaths an acceptable price for their feelings of masculinity. Again: not an either/or.
-
Yes lets see what gun strokers have done for poverty and mental health.... ... Yup. Nothing.
-
But you don't actually care about the issue yourself. So stop being such a hypocrite.

Racist manifesto of Charsleston shooter surfaces
-
And if he did what would you have to say? Yeah, I thought so. Red herring.
-
Cite? There are twice as many firearms deaths as drunk driving fatalities in the U.S. It's not either/or. Suggesting it is is a false choice. As for the 3D printing thing, guess they'll have to look at ways of regulating 3D printed guns. Said it before and I'll say it again: it's sad that people like you feel your hobby is more important than the grotesque human costs the proliferation of firearms causes.

They already threw that out the second they sent Sansa to Winterfell. The point kimmy and I are making (if I can be so presumptuous as to speak for her) was simply this: what was the point of making a big deal out of Sansa's supposed transformation from doormat to empowered player in the Game of Thrones only to continue to use her as a doormat? They could have sent her to Winterfell and married her to Ramsay and still give her some agency and something else to do other than get raped and wait to be saved.
