  1. Race is totally the reason, that's why no one ever says a peep about Donald Trump's crazy utterances, right?
  2. No I saw that, but it's such an thuddingly obvious point that I didn't see the need to underscore it. You know what's hilarious to me? Your consistent denial of the existence of white privilege set side by side with your certainty that gender privilege is real (and overwhelmingly benefits women).
  3. Apparently that simple statement is incredibly hard for some to wrap their heads around.
  4. People who think that answering a few questions on the LFC is tantamount to Big Brother-style surveillance should be smacked in the face repeatedly with a copy of Bill C-51.
  5. Showing an abject failure to understand the concept they are arguing against in the process. See above.
  6. It's basically: "If white people are privileged, how come *insert bad thing* happened to me?"
  7. This...doesn't make sense.
  8. Because these disparate incidents are being used to create a narrative about an overall trend. That's literally the entire premise of that Atlantic article.
  9. Enough to show a consistent pattern across a wide variety of institutions. it's also important to differentiate between outraged individual students and policies of the institutions themselves.
  10. I'm not really sure what your argument here is. No, he's questioning the very existence of the phenomenon. "Representative" is the key word. Certain examples of cops shooting unarmed black folks have been seized upon as representative of a larger problem that has been well documented in other ways. Where as the small handful of stories of campus political correctness run amuck are being held up as evidence of some kind of epidemic (in which case you'd think there'd be more than the same five stories to choose from).
  11. Cite required. Put another way: I don't believe you. The entire time elapsed between Forcillo arriving on the scene and him shooting Yatim was less than one minute. That's not enough time to adequately assess a situation like that. Had Forcillo taken another minute, he could have asked the streetcar driver if there was anyone else on the vehicle. Yes and imagine if Yatim had stashed a tactical nuke on the seat beside him.
  12. Yes, they are the one's saying racist shit. But you're gonna make assumptions about the prevalence anyway? I'm starting to think you din't really get the point of the piece. No one is denying the existence of super politically correct types on campuses. the question is around the framing of this as an epidemic or widespread phenomenon based on a certain selection of high-profile anecdotes. No it's an anecdote.
  13. So in your view, it's okay for people to spew offensive racist shit and the onus is on the people subject to it to, I guess, grow a thicker skin?
  14. Something something statistics something something Tumblr something something Hitler.
  15. The "Ferguson Effect" is probably bullshit, but what's really funny is the implicit idea that police are incapable of doing their jobs without resorting to extreme violence/brutality.
  16. Do you have any evidence at all that this was a consideration?
  17. Great. When will you start? Because cherry-picking certain measures to support a bigger narrative is just anecdotes with numbers. Doesn't tell us jack shit. There's nothing really secret about your leanings. No, but you can be said not to have a good understanding of the concept of X privilege. See above. Depends on the reasons for disagreeing. For some people, that reason is "hey this is a great way to make money off gullible virgins and divorced guys." Sadly no. A shit argument is a shit argument regardless of race or gender.
  18. So you're taking your (alleged) personal experiences and projecting it on to entire groups, which is merely the mirror image of the behaviour you deride in "SJWs". Has it also ever occurred to you that maybe the things you've experienced in your life weren't due to your gender? I've seen a lot of MRA-types who blame gender discrimination for their own personal choices and failings.
  19. Old white dudes, same as always. Your counter example was hot garbage and completely inaccurate. A better one would have been the Red Guards of Mao's Cultural Revolution, but even that is another example of the state actively radicalizing youth, not the other way around, which is your claim here. Not to mention the fact that the social, cultural and political milieus we're talking about are poles apart from our society today.
  20. #notallgermans While Hitler's message resonated with a lot of young people who were dealing with chronic unemployment and instability in the post WWI period, widespread indoctrination wasn't a thing that happened until after the Nazis consolidated their grip on power. But history lesson aside, let's not miss out on a chance to again observe that you're comparing SJWs with Nazis, when they aren't much different from the campus radicals of the '60s or the identity politics set from the early '90s. Oh but I'm sure this time it's different!
  21. The older generation of Germans were the people who brought the Nazis to power. Do you even history bro?
  22. Named after famous teen heartthrob Adolph Hitler. I would argue that,as a millennial, you don't have the life experience and perspective to understand how people's views naturally change and evolve over time. And I think your use of the term "indoctrination" proves that.
  23. What in the world are you blathering about? Were those events started by teens? Ah yes the old "sure there's no precedent for what I'm saying but this time it's different."
  24. And everyone know that beliefs sincerely held in one's teens and early 20s stay that way forever and ever.
