But but but lumping everyone together is bad you have to treat people as individuals.
-
And that's white privilege in a nutshell.
-
Yeah otherwise you might have to actually put some work into your posts.
-
That's exactly what it means. What do you think the word "privilege" means? But it's not the way things are. You're arguing some completely unrelated point. So imbalances in privilege exist, but not when it comes to race and gender. Because?
-
El oh el. "Not as privileged as Bill Gates" != "not privileged" The whole concept of "X privilege" is pretty easy to understand and is really just basic common sense (ask yourself if you are more or less privileged than someone born without legs). The only reason I can see as to why you'd take this stance is you feel your claims to victimhood are so great that anyone else's devalue your own somehow.

And I'm asking why you think that. I think, based on my observation of self-identified GGers, that the trolléGGer distinction is practically non-existent. Only the very ignorant or very gullible who never heard of Zoe Quinn would buy this. There are, no doubt, some people who are sincerely concerned with ethics in games journalism (though why anyone would trouble themselves with such an inconsequential subject is beyond me). For the most part, though, it started as a troll/harassment movement and gained steam when it was co-opted by right wing anti-SJW types who themselves couldn't give a shit about gaming.- 47 replies

How are you determining this? Can one not be both a gamergater and a troll? Except unlike #GG, #BLM didn't start out as an explicitly misogynist hate movement.- 47 replies

Or that some people, regardless of political affiliation, are gullible and stupid. But you don't need a bunch of 4chan losers to see that, do you? LOL at Mr. Unfalisfiablity over here with this unfalisfiable bullshit.- 47 replies

I never said they were accepting of Canadian values. What I was taking issue with was the idea was that their choice of dress was an intentional poke in the eye of those values, as Argus implied. Even if they reject all those things: big deal. That's what pluralism is all about. Again: and?
-
OK. And? You don't need to wear a niqab or even be Muslim to tick any of those boxes.

Accommodating Religion in the Workplace
Black Dog replied to Boges's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Can business owners now make their own decisions about what to serve? If I'm running a fast-food franchise in a predominantly Muslim or Jewish neighbourhood, it might be in my best interests to go halal/kosher and hog-free. It's not like there's a shortage of other Subways who will happily serve you ham. -
No they wrote-in English- compelling explanations of their personal reasons for choosing this form of dress (often against the wishes of their families and husbands), but sure, it's actually all about rejecting this society and its morals and values even as they seek to join it. Of course I'm not going to pretend that these women are representative off all the women in Canada who wear the niqab; why, that would be as stupid as assuming they are all forced to wear them by their husbands under pain of violence!

This bullshit didn't fly the first time you tried it upthread either, but points for persistence (though none for originality). -
More like Frito Gay amirite? Mike Huckabee Calls Doritos Anti-Christian, Demands Boycott of All Frito-Lay Snacks I'm sure TimG will be along any minute to criticize this reckless attempt to stifle free speech.
