  1. NHL teams without a doubt. CFL is very different. No multi-million dollar player contracts. No huge television contracts. The tiny funding they get from Heritage Canada, in exchange for the Canadian flag stickers on the helmets is a reasonable use of sponsorship funding.
  2. That's far from the standard deal on stadiums and arenas...
  3. It may be an expectation, but Canada would have no problems in not committing again. Especially the Conservative Government.
  4. Do state specific amounts and how they would be better spent.
  5. Link Yawn .... To repeat nobody really believes that. Dion said what he did to look like he was in control. Harper used what Dion sait to look like he was just helping out the poor waif Wajid Khan.
  6. Who is asking for Canada to extend beyond 2009? There is no way the Conservatives extend beyond 2009 this year.
  7. That is such a completely ridiculous analogy. People watch the Olympics when they are on. (Thankfully not on a government-subsidized netork in the near future.) Kids watch and want to emulate those athletes. They take part in sports more often as a result. Who watches a fusion researach scientist and decides to learn how to read? Funding of Olympic athletes is a good step in the direction of encouraging kids to lose weight.
  8. Of course there were other factors in Khan's choice to leave. Nobody believes that Dion forced Khan out. It was really a pathetic move on Dion's part. "You can't quit because you are fired.
  9. Really don't get your point. He could have sat as an independent no matter what the reason for him leaving the Liberal caucus.
  10. Come on Fortunata. Who has made that *suggestion*? When you look at things beyond recycling. Look at making homes energry efficient or driving hybrid vehicles. Those are the type of things out of reach of the poorer family.
  11. There are a couple reasons why the immigrant vote hasn't gone to the CPC yet. All things being equal immigrants will vote with the party in power when they arrived in the country. Unfortunately in the immediate aftermath of Mulroney the Liberals focused directly on the immigrant vote with the *scary* *scary* *scary* thing. So basically all immigrants from the past 40+ years have a natural inclination to vote Liberal. A Conservative majority later this year, or early next year, plus the transition to a strong leader to follow Harper and we might turn the immigrant tide.
  12. Ahhh, there is the rub. Part of the venal hatred so many Liberals have for Harper is because he has professionalized the party. There is a reason real reform won't take place. Nobody really wants to do it. The Reform party is the closest to power any party advocating real change to the system has ever come. Of course they faced many attacks of *scary* *scary* *scary*. Real reform to the system involves reform to the Senate, not abolition. On that point alone the Conservatives are far beyond any other party out there.
  13. Uhhh, to clarify the tax system. by increasing the rate on the lowest bracket they increased taxes for *all* taxpayers. The working credit, transit credit, textbook credit, and worker's tool credit will all add to make people at the lowest tax bracket better off than they were under the Lbierals. I do agree that the 1/2 point raise in the lowest tax bracket was a mistake. Look for the Government to correct that mistake in the next budget.
  14. It will resonate with South-Asian Canadians.... Along with the reduction of the landing fee and the promotion of Diane Finley to Minister of Immigration this shows Harper's commitment to minority communities in Ontario.
  15. Fair enough. How long does the fighting season last? Will there be another lull in the fall? I've heard from other sources that the timing of the next election will definitely take into consideration the expected intensity of fighting in Arghanistan. So I guess this poll is accurate because the next election will take place in a lull.
  16. Harper undertook many of the moves to curry favour in Ontario. Moving Diane Finley into immigration over Albertan Monte Solberg. Moving John Baird into the high profile Environment file. Bringing Wajid Khan into caucus. Moving Helena Guergis into cabinet. Seems like Harper beleives that his road to a majority goes through Ontario... Although Khan will probably lose his seat in Mississauga.
  17. Remind me not to go to the bar with you to pick up chicks. "Honey you are cute and all, but you don't make the status cutoff."
  18. No doubt...
  19. I can't believe this hasn't been posted on this thread yet. http://khaaan.com/
  20. He bagged tons of chicks in his single days...
  21. What outrage? Are you stoned? You aren't making any sense right now ...
  22. And Archie Bunker's use of ignorant terms such as fag, wop, polack, n*gger, chinks, and spade would gladly be shrugged off by all the enlightened members of the communites affected because they also see how white, redneck stereotypes were being equally roasted? Hmmm, very interesting take on things.
  23. Boy with such reasoned and well-thought out responses I should just walk away...
  24. You haven't seen what he has written. THere are new previews or ads about it anywhere. How do you know what he will bring to the table? You can guess, based on your own pre-conceptions and nothing else.
  25. Technically, you did, by decrying the show as racist. Technically you are misrepresenting the case. Setting up a straw man to justify your own racism. I guess your ridiculous remarks about Little Temple on the Prairie have only gone to prove your ignorance, not those of the white hicks you hoped to expose with such a shrewd plot.
