Jerry J. Fortin replied to M.Dancer's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Which is one of the reasons to adapt and prosper is it not? The entire north is changing, you must know that. -

Liberals looking after taxpayers?
Jerry J. Fortin replied to Topaz's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I will suggest that we need a better government period. The current round of clowns doesn't play well together, we should fire the entire lot of them outright at the next election and watch the chips fall where they may. -

Why no? I have looked into some bits and pieces, mining the ice out of the arctic sea floor looks damned feasible. -
Green Party gets mentioned in the NEWS!~
Jerry J. Fortin replied to M.Dancer's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
We may have passed beyond a point of no return with the environment. The logical plan given the reality of the previous statement is to adapt, and do it with all possible speed. Canada has some unique concerns with climate change, vast amounts of this nation will be transformed, and for the better I might add. The north will open up, rich in mineral wealth it will become the newest economic engine in the nation. This is where the Greens should step in with a positive slant to the entire equation. Forget selling off AECL, start planning to use it to our advantage. Push for methane ice extraction, form a crown corporation to do it and acquire all the leases available. The north is the future, and the Greens have a key to unlock the wealth. -

Yeah it IS the way the game is played. Wouldn't you just love to see an opposition actually propose alternative strategies and policies? -
That is how I fell about Harper. Strange.............

First Nation Chief Pay; Why a Secret?
Jerry J. Fortin replied to jbg's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Look. this is the way it is. I am all for changing the way things are but this is not up to us. Its the peoples of the first nations whose voices must be heard. -
I will suggest that the CPC will be very quiet for the next little while. This scandal will consume the public given the right push here and there. Its to Iggy's advantage to have it this way. Maybe he is not so dumb after all.

Pointless Posturing From Jack Layton
Jerry J. Fortin replied to M.Dancer's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The government already has enough employees, they need not hire anymore. So its up to the private sector to take advantage of tax laws to influence decisions on corporate spending practices, meaning hire new people. From a business perspective the first question is why do you need to hire anybody? Just take the money and run..... -
Sign of what?

Appeals court sides with elections Canada...
Jerry J. Fortin replied to William Ashley's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I am all for political alliances and fellowship, I am against the current established order of things with respect to how the game of politics is played. Party leaders are policy Gods, no other opinions are relevant. That kind of thing is counter productive and will never serve to elevate the office of the public servant. Which is what I believe the true cause of the current malaise toward politics in this country. Top down driven policy wonks are not known for delivering benefit to citizens. Grass roots are where things really start and its where things can evolve from. -
Appeals court sides with elections Canada...
Jerry J. Fortin replied to William Ashley's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
ALL political parties stink. There simply is not a party out there that suits me, oh well. I will support the candidate with the most to offer me. That is true for most citizens. If you want the public to become more involved then raise the stakes ad offer more than the other guy. More nowadays means more representation as in free votes. Free votes can and will do far more for citizens than anything else at this point because it will return elected public servants back in line by making them accountable for their actions. The people deserve their representatives, this is a democracy and the citizens can push to get their way. -
I don't like income taxes at all. I would prefer a tax on expenses not incomes. A transaction tax can be applied in a blind and revenue neutral manner.

I watched that whole thing unravel when it happened. Orchard got screwed, no doubt. On the other hand, he was also a fool. -

Okay how about seven decades of at least quasi conservative governments.....would that be proof of anything? -
Alberta's Premier Ed Stelmach resigns
Jerry J. Fortin replied to Topaz's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
I would say yes. -
I will suggest that Harper is the(a) bully. For an economist, he has a very different approach. unless you consider his quest for power. Then it all makes sense.
-
I look forward to the day he decides to step up. Maybe this time, then again maybe not because this next leader will have a size large task of reformation to undertake. That could very well be his cup of tea, you never know. One thing to remember is that there will very likely be some large changes in the Liberal Party with any new leader. Steve may well survive this next election, another minority government at best. If Trudeau is next then Harper will be toast, its that simple in my opinion.

This should not get as far as the Speaker, she should be fired. Harper puts his whole transparent accountable government into question as long as she sits as a Minister. Even Iggy can make hay out of this one.

Perhaps in your mind that is true.
