The Problem with the Liberal Party of Canada
mikedavid00 replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Wow that was quite the research. I think everyone knows that Dion is just a fall guy right now. I believe Rae should take another shot at Liberal leadership when it comes around so the party can move forward. -
Hundreds of rich pay no tax: Study ?
mikedavid00 replied to jennie's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
A friend of mine in ottawa did that. -
You did not read my quote I guess. I am not disputing emergency treatment, I am disputing that he had a medical emergancy. That's what I am disputing. I personally do not believe that many Canadians would have the surgery less than 48 hours after mentioning to a dr that you somtimes get chest pains. That seems it would be elective if it happened to any of us. I'm just not buying it. Actually a guy I worked with, his old ailing father from Pakistan went for a walk and came back with chest pains and had to be taken to the hospital where they wated almost all night for him to see somewhere. He never got any care or any surgery. He looked to be overweight and in very poor healtch and i'm sure he could have used a triple bypass himself. A good portion of all seniors need this surgery and have to wait. But something is fishy in Chretiens case. I just don't beleive he was under a medical emergancy situation> The cards don't stack up right and I highly doubt that things would have played out for us the same way.

(lol.. funny how your not even in Canada yet and you know all about our EI and welfare system). Why not just be honest Xul. How are you going to support youserlf when you get here. You never want to answer that. What your plans are. Etc. -
Nice Cherry picking. Here are the Ontario Wait times: Bypass Surgery Provincial Target 182 days Service Area Pan-Canadian Benchmarks Announced Dec 12, 2005 Ontario's targets (in weeks) Announced Today Cataract Surgery 16 weeks for patients at risk (which correlates with Ontario's PIII priority rating) Priority I: Immediate Priority II: 6 weeks Priority III: 12 weeks Priority IV: 26 weeks There is no 3 day stuff at all for bypass surgery. I cringe to think what Quebec gets.
-
Think about it though. Chretiene cut transfer payments to the provinces by 40% and caused most provinces to actually close hospitals in the 90's leaving most of our healthcare system in a crisis situation. He did nothing to remedy the problem but pledge to let in 500,000 immigrants a year if he was re-elected to futher kill our system, Then he has the balls to get diagnosed and wait 2 days for a quad bypass ON OUR SYSTEM? We would be left waiting a year for specialists, MRI scans, and then finally the surgery. Do you think these surgens are on call like this doing bypass surgeries?? Especially in Quebec where the medicare system is in HORRID shape due to language/political issues at the hospitals and immigration.

Ok UPDATE! Supposedly this was innitiated with his cartiac speciallist friend when he mentioned he had chest pains SOMETIMES. He meantioned this to him WHEN PLAYING GOLF. This isn't looking good. I hope there are some reporters that are digging deep in this. He does't seem to be in any emergancy condition and gets QUADRUPLE bypass in less than 48 hours????
-
My Grandfather (a major lifelong taxpayer and employer in Canada) needed to get a double bypass when he was around 60. He had to wait 6 months. And he only got a double. Chretien didn't seem to be in an emergency becuase he was supposed to have a speaking engagement that he only cancelled the day of the surgery. I feel he called his Friend, got specieal treatment, and they probably gave him the bypass 'to be safe'. If this was an emergancy he would have had an ambulance called rather than call a friend. Details will come out later I suppose. I really hope this develops into a big story.

Mixed Member Proportional representation
mikedavid00 replied to Denny's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
That's just it thought. Immigrants DON'T fight and die for this country!! And no, like MANY other countries, they cannot hold office unless they were born here. The argument is that it WORKS for New Zealand becuase they have a normal homagenous country (like most other countries). Canada is close to a 3rd world country split down ethnic and religious lines. We've lost or homogeny due to mass, mass, mass immigration and we are now split into groups who all want to get their hands into the public cookie jar. The immigrants have not sucseeded thus far. They came close, they have been thrown some bones, but have truly not succseeded yet. When they finally penetrate into our Parliment system with religoius/ethnic lines, we are in trouble. When they get their own schools funded with public money, we are in trouble. The immigrants have not officially established a true power base in Canada yet. The RCMP uniform is small fries. it's a sign, but not a true power base. But wow the writing is on the wall. It could happen soon. If we get MMP, ethnic school fudning, then we have officially given them their first true establishment of a new power structure. -

No I mean 'a guy posted'. But yeah that's proof right there. Now I heard on CBC radio that they will continue to push minorities and women through this and how it's great that certain immigrants have a voice. MMPP - Mixes ethnicities and religion in with our politics which is a seriously mistake. This may work easily in other homogeneous countries (which are most of them), but not in a rogue state like Canada. That would be a true nightmare. -

That is false. Most modern immigrants are living in poverty or not even working. Modern Immigrants do not come here and create employment for Canadians. I wish that were the case, but it's not. -

cite: http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2007/10/03/...en-surgery.html -Chretien known to be in very good health. -Monday says he might be having chest pains. -Consults a FRIEND of his in Monteal to look him over with no waiting times. -Update! - Speaks to this friend while PLAYING A GAME OF GOLF! -The Chief of surgery does his operation in less than 48 hours. -He gets a full quadruple bypass. No half measures. Hmmm i wonder if us peasants would be able to do the same? Call a friend and get a quadruple bypass in less than 48 hours. You know what they would do with us if we got chest pains, they would keep us waiting for 12 hours, see us, give us a perscription, put us on a waiting list for 8 months just to see a specialist, and then determine if we need a bypass which we would wait another 6 months and possibly die. But Chritien? No he gets special treatment. Just like the political figures do iin the third world. Wow and you wonder why i'm not proud ot be a Canadian. There's your reason. This is the type of country we live in. We should all be ashamed of this and lets hope a big news story develops out of this. This sort of elitsism is wrong, immoral, and a slap in the face to all of us citizens who pay taxes.

Mixed Member Proportional representation
mikedavid00 replied to Denny's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
WOW! Look at what this guy posted on another forum!! "Take New Zealand, for example. It used to have an electoral system just like ours, with two parties (Labour and National) trading places at the top and a third party occasionally winning a seat or two. But in 1993 New Zealand switched to a new system – mixed-member proportional, or MMP, which is the same system on the referendum ballot in Ontario. Now New Zealand has eight different parties in its parliament, including a Maori party, one that opposes more Asian immigration, and another that wants a hard cap on government spending. New Zealand is a relatively homogenous place compared to Ontario. Here, if MMP were adopted as our electoral system, one could easily envisage the emergence of parties based on ethnicity or on geography..." --- JUST AS I SUSPECTED!! Seriously guys, we're doing it to ourselves! We are willingly, and litterally destroying our own country. Why are we doing this to ourselves. -

And that is where the exploitation can happen. The legislature would be filled with immigrants. Now I know what jbg was talking about. No thanks. no to proportional representation. -

Canada lets in plenty of immigrants to saturate our job market so everyones salary goes down except for those who work for, or around the civil service. That's our problem. The rich benefit from the immigration. Everyone on this board knows it. That's the MAIN reason I actually don't agree with our immigration policy: because it saturates our job market. -
I know how he can win a nomination... He just needs a couple hundred friends.
-
Errr... Umm.. Ok.. so you want more green action and less taxes? You do realize that Canada puts out less than 2% of the world... ah nevermind.

Funding these schools are basically tax payers funding someone elses religion. Funding Catholic schools has already been tried and the litigators failed because it's in our constitution that Catholics have a right to public education. The province has to go through measures to remedy this and has not done so. That's what makes this issue complicated. Anyone who goes after our seperate school board will be slaughtered in the polls. Or maybe they won't. I'm not really sure. The Catholic and Protestant thing is an Ontario/Quebec thing. You don't see this as much outside of these provinces. -

Lol! You consider $250,000 wealthy elite?? an American would laugh at you. That is the salary of the typical small business tax evader, not that of the wealthy elite. The wealthy DO pay more tax than anyone else. Especially in the US. -
Why did you leave our country to work overseas? You are *so* Canadian that in fact you are willing to run for politics and call the shots. So why did you decide to move OUT OF CANADA?
-
Why would someone vote you in when you are a firm believer in sponsorship and ailing old people from the 3rd world here to settle and live on the hog and use our healthcare system? If you actually *did* run and made some unpopular platforms, you would receive the ear of the grassroots and the media. Everyone is a coward at this stage. We can let in workers to help our economy, Or let in 87 year old Parminder Sing from Punjab India to take a fee ride on our welfare and healthcare system. The grass roots will never support you unless you do something about this.

The Conservatives are too soft IMO. I like the Libertarian party... but everyone says they are a Libertarian. Few vote for them.. pitty really.. "The Canadian government has grown enormous over the past few years, in both size and scope, and we're concerned with the levels to which various government and regulatory bodies infringe on our basic freedoms." "Socialism and Interventionism. The ideal of socialism is to redistribute wealth in order to make everyone supposedly equal, but nothing could be further from the truth. Many government programs, whether motivated by socialism or special interests or other types of interventionist thinking actually create more problems than they solve. So what we need to do is change this culture of socialism and statism into a culture of freedom." "Because increasingly, we're told what to do, what to say and what to think. It's our job as people, as Canadians, to stand up and say enough!" http://www.libertarian.ca/
