Binary political systems evolve to end the democracy
myata replied to myata's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I would argue that parties in a majority system is are not genuine parliamentary parties. A party in a democracy is not just a community of a certain political interest but also a correct and fair relationship between the power given to it relative to its actual support in the society. From this perspective, these aren't regular parties in a parliamentary democracy. They do not compete on equal terms. They are not represented anywhere near accurately and fairly. They are the duo of management corporations that drastically limit the voters meaningful choice, down to absolute bare minimum. There was a reason for it, certainly. But it existed in the 17th century. The time has moved on since. -
Binary political systems evolve to end the democracy

Oh come on. It's not about "has seats" but what they reflect. Do they reflect any reality, anything like it? It's a decoration that changes nothing. And cannot stop the populists once they made it into the duo. -
To people who try to defend their independence and very lives against a brutal and unprovoked aggression: "He has an amazing sense of humor", adding "funny to tears" smiley (Musk). It doesn't get worse than that, does it? Another planet of principles and morality. Well it's an accomplished fact now: pure, distilled shame. In front of, and to the world. And proud of it. Accept it, cower to it and repeat it. Or call it now for what it is. This how it worked since the times immemorial and will work all the way till freedom and dignity exist in this world. Stand to it or join it. No excuses. No escapes. No middle ground. "He has an amazing sense of humor," Musk responded to this statement, adding a smiley face "funny to tears." An empty shell driven by unclear urges, beliefs and desires in the winds out of control. Only one question remains: is the damage permanent? Can there be a path back to normalcy, from here?

Binary political systems evolve to end the democracy
myata replied to myata's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Not three, two plus: the duo plus the dissent/unorthodox. Binary system cannot produce any other results. And this is a path to a demise of democracy. We can get it or we will live it. -
It doesn't matter when the reality and responsibility took off. You can vote for anything: the right to be dumb; gamble all your worth away; jump off the roof; anything, really. Sure, you have this right. No one and nothing will stop you. What you cannot do no matter how hard try is to cancel the consequences of your choices. In the reality. In the head, doesn't matter one bit, to the reality. The reality will always catch up. So many tried to beat this simple law of nature.

Aka war criminal under international arrest warrant, a brutal totalitarian dictator. An effect indeed: objective and factual. The only question is, who you are? What are you standing for? What was that "liberty" about? Well, you knew it, you knew all and you chose it. No excuses now. No explanations to the history. The record, set.

Another factual, empirical evidence is unfolding before our eyes: nothing lasts forever in the entropy world. Even much more sophisticated and intelligent political systems designed with much thought and care will degrade, deteriorate and decay eventually, if left without continuous, responsible and intelligent care by active and involved citizens. British heritage "binary" political systems in contrast to the touted stability, have shown themselves extremely vulnerable to populism. When an all-out populist is presented as the only, sole alternative to the status quo, democracy is gravely challenged and nothing can be assured. A brief window, in terms of historical scales was open to understand it and redesign the system bringing it in line with the reality and demands of modern societies. He who cannot adapt, must perish: this is a simple law of the evolution. Binary politics will end democracy, surely and unavoidably. Not if: when.

A large part of the society, beyond and wider than the deadbrain cult will try to convince and reassure itself now that nothing much has happened. Ball game and football game, concerts and shows life goes on. That it will be fixed somehow and by itself because it always did and it has to. Nope. No way. Chants and appeals don't work with the evolution. The watershed line has been crossed, the new normals established and precedents set. Nothing will be the same when citizens, reason and responsibility departed. Nothing can be. Obviously.

The two necessary parts - a decay of integrity in the political system and a decay of responsible citizenship have converged to mark a watershed point in the history of America. Choices were made and precedents set. Returning to the past is not possible. We're seeing the first days of the new age, in which no rules, no traditions or memories of the past can be counted on and held on to, no matter how much or often recited. The divide has been passed beyond the point of no return. "Electing Joe" was certainly a strong contributing factor to this precipitous manifestation of the change that was developing for some time now. Entitlement to power; bewilderment by it to the point of a total disconnect with the reality. An awkward semi-believable effort to cover it up like nothing much happened. Matched by a total disregard of responsibility before the country and the history itself by the other party, giving in to an non-democratic authoritarian cult and creating the basis for the split. And for the final and entirely necessary contribution, the collapse of citizenship. Democracy is not a wishing well, no popularity pageant. Where important decisions are based on hearsay, sentiment and/or a whim, surprises will follow. It is clear now that a large part of America's population will accept a fascist government in some form in exchange for a promise or an illusion of return to prosperity. Just like it happened in other places before. Well this is a fact now and it's pronounced not by some numbers but by the reality itself: - Will mob bosses become normal and accepted candidates for top positions in the democracy in exchange for promises (not necessarily the reality) of generous handouts to the pueblo, as is the standard practice in other such places? - Will America begin aligning itself with the worst anti-democratic totalitarian regimes of the planet? - Will it attempt to weaken and undermine the defense alliance of democracies, from being its leader for several decades? - Will "just find me those votes" become the normal and accepted election-time strategy, maduro-style? Now accepted and rewarded: an accomplish fact. - Will it begin the practice of persecution of opposition with pocket law enforcement and judiciary looking the other way? See, we don't know the answers anymore. It used to be so easy but nothing is certain now. And this is the answer in itself: a watershed. Nothing is and will be the same, from here. Don't dream and no point trying to look the other way in the vain hope what it all would just disappear, as a dream or morning fog. No such hopes. The age of the founding fathers; of the victories of WWII; of the space age and defeating the totalitarian communism is herewith officially over, past and bygone. The new answers aren't known, they are wide open and will have to be rewritten and written anew. They can be very different: no promises and guarantees now, the future being wide open. And so be it, bring it on. We knew it and we chose it.

Seriously. You can play any kind of muzak in your brains but you cannot unsay the reality. Just isn't the power of any lying cheeks and lips. And sure you know it because you couldn't come up with a flicker of a thought, a rational argument to counter the obvious. It's not amusing: just dumb and boring to try. But oh well some just couldn't stop. Not that it can and will change anything.
-
So the next entirely logical and virtually unavoidable (how?) step would be to declare that some citizens: great leaders, gang and mob bosses elected presidents of the great nation, caesars, emperors and so on do not have to face the law, because they are beyond (or above) it. There's a reason, you see. Very logical, no? And waving hi in the window - already, if you looked recently. And that means of course, the full circle. Just short of the third centennial not the best in the history but impressive still. Congrats are in order. Enjoy.
-
Except the evolution doesn't work this way. It doesn't wipe soiled a$$es. It couldn't care less about hurt feelings. If you failed you fail - and will face the consequences. One - two. Can't be cancelled with any muzak. Three generations back we learned it the hard way but forgot. Again. Cross mark and no caring feedback.
-
One cannot have mafia boss as the president with all charges dropped and the rule of law. Both just cannot happen together in the sane, rational world. It would be a drawn parody of democracy. And it's here - right out the window. The reality is simple really: you can play all kinds of muzak in your brain. You can build castles and projects in your imagination. But you cannot cancel the consequences. The reality will always catch up. You knew what this was about. And you chose it.
-
As usual we brought it upon ourselves opening the crapmegaloads of pseudo-information and presuming - without any reasonable substance really, that the democracy will stand and hold whatever we throw at it. Just because we want it. Nope. The reality doesn't work this way, as we're discovering all over and yet again.
-
When the mafia boss is elected the President of the United States of America, the judge will delay sentencing to consider dropping all charges. This is the reality. Out the window. Now. The reality doesn't change. The universal rule of law is a cornerstone of democracy. The law applies equally to everyone equally or there's no law. No you can't have both: it's just plain minimal reason. One will have to give. And you know, can smell it, which one will it be. No surprises. No miracles. You chose it.
-
Exactly as observed: One part will "honestly" pretend that nothing happened. Another will desperately clutch to the slipping illusion that another election and "better connection with the voters" would fix this deep and expanding decay quickly and miraculously. And all will be just like it was before. A happy fairy tale. Now, anyone who's sane and awake can see the problem here. It's not going to fix itself or disappear one happy morning.

Half of the population of America is ready and preparing to embrace fascism. This is the score returned by the citizen's test, numbers don't lie and where's no way from or around them. If nothing changes, one of the administrations in the near future will be fascist not only in words and spirit but de facto. This is no prophesy but already the reality stretched in time. There's no way out of here through talking, wishful thinking and/or attempting to erase facts and records of what's transpired and what it means. None of that will work, and it would be almost exactly the path that unfolded all the way to the rise of fascism in several known examples. The precedents are written. Every single lawyer of every career criminal, gang leader or mafia boss applying for the job will cite it now. A fact and the new normal. Done deal. Yes we did. Even if any one individual could redeem themselves via a spotlessly perfect term in the office followed by more time to convince fellow citizens, unlikely as it seems, it would change very little because the precedents are set and written into the book of history. The blueprint can be followed over and again until one time it would unfold all the way to the well-known destination. No untalking and back-walking it now. Not possible. Records can be erased from human memory and our books but not one speck can be removed from the book of history. The reality will catch up as certainly as the time itself. But he doesn't have to. He can try to play it out all the way - and what's left standing in it? Institutions, words won't stand to rising cults - we have records of history, not only the past but now, in America, now to prove and confirm it. Individuals who tried to stand on the principle can be removed and replaced by voiceless shadows, one by one. How many times has it played out? Words don't stand to cults - they are only scratches on sheets of starch once and after the citizens have left. And so, they won't. The time for a national conversation about the future of democracy in America is now. Maybe it's too late already and if so, we would see that. But sleepwalking into a dead end of history would be such a terrible and utterly disappointing choice. And this time, we knew all: no excuses.
