a question to you religious folk the bible tells us that greed is bad. yet the free market we live in and under is based on greed. I understand this is the only system that humans have devopled to create wealth, so please dont give me the "you want to destroy our economey" line, or call me a socialist/communist/stalinst, etc.. I just have a simple question if greed is evil, how can you feel right in beleiving in your religion and living in a greed-based economey?

School Punishes 7 Yr Old - Discussed Gay Parents
Pellaken replied to Michael Hardner's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
I HATE the aclu with a passion. I am very big on security. and dont call me racist, I am brown (half italian) and I dont care if it means it takes me an extra 30 minutes in the airport, if it saves lifes, then its a great thing. the aclu is anti security, and wants to see north america burning in flames under the reign of der furher, bin laden. now, back on topic Morgan you need to get your priorities straight you spent the entire post attacking gay rights when this topic is about a little girl who has just been told she's not normal. if you could understand the incredable pain that causes, perhaps you would not respond in such a way. obvioulsy, you dont care about those sort of things. -
so the PM must alwyas be a western canadian? nothing but the west? you guys are starting to sound like quebecois get out of my country.

thats a little bit of an over-exaderation, I admit, but the point is still valid. as for punishing pedophiles, I've said it before, death. I'd suggest worse, but canada does not allow torture. I have no sympathy for lawbreakers.

there needs to be special laws. if your 1 day over the age of concent and have sex with someone 1 day under, you should not be thrown in jail. I proposed a grading system, perhaps something more stringent? make the age of concent 18 years, but allow people within 5 years of eachother, in age, to do it, less then 18 or not.

I'll be blunt. I'll open up, and explain myself in full. I never had a girlfriend till I was almost 18. I never kissed, hugged, or did ANYTHING with a girl before her. Why? simple. I had that stolen from me, I had that chance, that right, robbed from me by bullies, a@@holes, and jerks, in middle school and high school. I've never had one of those "cute" little realaitonships. That's all I've ever wanted, but now, to be blunt, its a little to late for that. I am basacally, still young when it comes to sex, and sexual related activites. I know people who ARE 12 who have done more then I have. Now, while I wouldent want a life like they live, my point is still valid. I am young in experince. if I wanted to go out with someone who is 14 (and I asked a lawyer, that's legal) I dont think that any of you have the right to say no. Now personally, I probably would not go out with a 14 year old, I'd probably only go with someone about 16. In some ways, I feel like I was raped. due to some people from my past, I never lived an entire part of my life. I am sorry if I get a little angry when someone, not only tells me that I can never have that, and that they want they want to change the law to make me a lawbreaker, but that somehow I am in the wrong? somehow I am "sick"? NO. sorry. that does not fly with me.

I take his attacks as not against mr.robinson, but against me as well. I've made my points quite clear, and greg know's I am not pleased with this recent attack. I am still waiting for action.

In 1980, MacEachan realized that Clark had no contacts with the Creditistes and MacEachan also knew that he could get Trudeau to come back. Clark's government fell because the six Creditistes sat out the vote. (All six lost their seats in the 1980 election.) BTW, I suspect Clark felt he could pull a Diefenbaker and turn a minority into a majority. Why is this relevant? Because no formal coalition is necessary. Just careful discussions, and the basic fact that politicians fear elections. The Liberals have traditionally been good at managing such. these were also the last 6 seats the party EVER got, and will EVER get a brilliant play indeed -
House Of Commons Electoral Reform...
Pellaken replied to NDP Newbie's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
some things on thresholds. first of all, we should make 2, not 1 MP elected the minimum. why? simple. you need someone to second your bills but, I dont like the 1/308th of the vote threshold. I want higher. Canada, being a uniqie nation, should have 3 thresholds. 1 seat elected in a riding 5% of the total vote, nationally 2% of the total vote nationally, and, 15% or more in any one province. the last one would have represented Reform in 1988, and will likely keep the Bloc happy. 15% of the vote in any of the 3 largest provinces equals 2% of the naitonal vote. note 15% of the vote in Quebec is about 3.5% of the national vote, meaning, the Bloc would need to make 15% in quebec to be represented. With just a 2% national threshold, the Bloc could do as poorly as 8% in Quebec and still get representaiton We need to keep the fringe element out. -
House Of Commons Electoral Reform...
Pellaken replied to NDP Newbie's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
well... not to gloat... but my idea's for democratic reform are the best House: 25% of the seats elected proportionally, 75% through either FPTP, or a Preferential Ballot (like the new tories/ndp use(d) in their recent leadership races) Senate: the senate must represent the provinces. EEE is nice, if Quebec accepts. if not, I have 2 other suggestions. One is to give PQ, ON, BC, and AB the same number of seats (24), then distribute the remaining 48 seats to the remaining 6 provinces. Or, a 50/50 formula, where each province is given 5 seats automatically, then more depending on population. to "elect" the senate, there are a few options. first of all, we could do like the house, and mix some sort of PR. we could go with pure PR (no ridings) or as I like best, PR based on the legislature. so, for example, if you have 20% of the seats in the provincial legislature, you get 20% of your provinces senate seats. I would suggest there be limits so the opposition gets 1 senate seat, regardless. Here's a provincial idea. I came up with this after realizing that PEI may not stomach PR. One problem is that the Opposition is under-represented. I therefore suggested just a few PR seats. What these seats would do is 2 things. First, there would be seats dedicated to each party leader. If you have 20 parties, then, its possible, you could have 20 people elected form these seats. If you only have 2 major parties, then there could only be 2 of these seats. Basacally, if your party makes the threshold (5% of the vote, or 1 riding/seat elected) then the party leader gets his seat. The party leader would be banned from running in a riding. Next, if the opposition has less then 25% of the seats (this would only happen if the government had more then 75% of the seats) then we give the opposition enough seats so they have 25%. This would solve the problem of under-representaiton which happens out often out east. -
Most Likely Coalition In The Case Of Minority Gov

there will be a "deal" nothing official. rather the Liberals and the NDP will agree to work togethor. The liberals would go to the NDP with their budgets, for example, and say "what do we need to give you if you will support this?" but the Liberals would probably take the issues the NDP says no to, to the Bloc or the Tories. -
here's a thinker I'm a 19 year old virgin. I never had a girlfriend before I was 17 (and even then, I was 2 months from being 18) I've only had one girlfriend ever. never had that "cute" little realationship crap when I was 12 or whatanot. should I have subject to the same rules as the guy who lives 2 doors down from me here in the dorms, who has been quoted as saying "date rape drugs are great, I've gotten between 20-25 girls with em, I dont know the eact number, I was too drunk to remember"

we need a graduated age. we should lower the age of consent to 12 but, limit it, so 12 year olds can only consent to sexual activitied with someone 24 or younger 13 year olds with 26 year olds 14 year olds with 28 year olds 14 is the current age of concent for non-sodomy sex. a 14 year old, under the current law, could have sex with a 45 year old. 15 - 30 16 - 32 17 - 34 18 - 36

House Of Commons Electoral Reform...

mixed-member PR is the only way to go! another interesting suggestion was to elect the senate, through pure PR, at the same time as the house, which remains FPTP. -
