    I think a merger will happen. But it well be a merger of left wing parties. Rename it the PPoC, Progressive Party of Canada, and watch the juggernaut take hold. Many high school students I talk to identify themselves as supporting progressive policies as they are forward thinking. Very few support CPC. Only after a progressive party takes the reins will we see true social justice.

    I would hate to live in a world without the UN. I thin k they have some excellent environmental and sustainable development initiatives in place. Let's face reality; we need to create more green space and limit population growth.

    I don't think enough people realize how important it is to reduce our carbon footprint for the benefit of the earth. I don't know if anyone remembers this Ad but it is very effective. We will all be blown up if we don't combat man-made climate change. At what age is someone old enough to understand the message of this video? I challenge all members of this forum to make a conscientious effort to reduce their carbon footprint by 10-20%.

    Thanks for the clarification waldo. When I first saw this graph the first thought that came to mind was that it was probably cooked to make the CPC look good. We will never know because democracy has been tampered with.

    I would say that the recession of 2009 has actually caused people to consume less, not the policies of the Harper government.

    I found this neat little chart on Canada's GHG emissions. It shows that Canada's GHG emissions were highest in 2000, and 2009 - 2011 have been the lowest. I don't think this graph is accurate as I believe emissions have gone through the roof with the current CPC government. It doesn't seem too bad as it is all about sustainable development and protecting the environment which are good things.
