  1. Why do you exaggerate so much? How many movies do your kids watch in school. If that was happening why aren't you discussing it with the principal or superintendent?
  2. Here is an excellent blog talking about the corporation influence in public education. This explains it nicely and we should all protest this intrusion by corporations. http://danscratch.blogspot.ca/2014/04/lets-talk-about-alberta-education-and.html
  3. I've provided facts and excellent links to prove my point. Do you even read them?
  4. Yes, I realized a made a mistake MLW member waldo. Sorry to all those whose lives wre interrupted because I placed this thread under provincial politics instead of federal politics where it should rightfully belong. But also, leipert has a strong background in provincial politics. Actually I can see this thread being both a provincial and federal thread.
  5. I will be taking a stand against neo-liberal/corportist agenda against public education.

    1. WestCoastRunner

      WestCoastRunner

There is that word again? neo-liberal. What the heck does it mean. Explain in 2 sentences or less.

  6. So your the one who told on me to Charles anthony resulting in me getting another warning point. Kids need to feel safe in school. That's the bottom line. I ot off topic on this one but I have other educational threads discussing serious issues. I guess I got distracted here.
  7. Are you also against democracy like the CPC?
  8. He won't be in cabinet because the Cons will not even win a minority in 2015. I am making that prediction now. I predict a Trudeau majority as he will engage young voters and for the first time in decades young voters will turn out in droves to vote for someone they can relate to, Justin Trudeau.
  9. Also, I would definitely consider buying a CPC membership to vote for a riding representative who I found favorable. Absolutely. That's democracy.
  10. Yes, I like him becuse he's not a blue conservative. He has a pile of support in Signal Hill. Look at how he easily took out Anders. It's easy to sell memberships. Anyone can buy a membership. Calgary is quickly becoming a left leaning city and they have one of the most successful mayors in Canadian history, the left leaning Nenshi.
  11. Some of you guys do nothing but bitch and complain. Charles, Greg, and Michael have done a wonderful job maintaining this forum. I'm sick and tired of the whining and complaining.
  12. Maybe he will cross the floor. I like Liepert from what I've read. He doesn't take shit from anyone. Who the hell is Jason Kenney anyway? I'm going to love watching the CPC implode from the inside. After 2015 we won't see another CPC government in 25 years.
  13. I'm pleased to say that I am glad Calgary is becoming a more progressive city and kicking the ReformCons to the curb. Ron Liepart will be a great CPC representative as he is much more a centrist. If Calgary can acquire common sense then there is hope for Canada. I will predict now that there is no way the CPC will win the next election. However if they were to nominate more centrist moderates like Liepart, they may have a chance. The Reform Alliance movement is dead. Good riddance.
  14. Congratulations to the residents of Kitimat for giving Big Oil the middle finger. Common sense.

  15. You make ridiculous statements without proof? Where is the proof Manitoba is doing poorly. I also heard Manitoba passed a law to allow GSAs is any school including independent school. Manitoba is a leader in progressive education.
  16. Nope. The many teachers I know in Manitoba say public education there is top notch and improving greatly under the NDP and their working together with the MTS.
  17. You make me laugh when you think testing is useful. The latest research says testing is useless. You need to educate yourself. http://www.joebower.org/2013/03/de-testing-and-de-grading-schools.html
  18. My contacts in Manitoba tell me their public education system is awesome because the provincial government there understands and respects proper funding of public education. Count yourself lucky.
  19. How about teachers who have 6 different levels in one class without proper resources? That teacher should be punished for poor performance. We have kids addicted to drugs, Iphones etc. What do we do? Grad rates continue to rise across Canada thanks to the hard work and dedication of teachers. Teachers are doing a great job yet continually get spit on by neo-leberals with corporate agendas. Pay close attention to what is REALLY going on out there, Mike. You owe it to yourself.
  20. Exactly. Your colleagues are 21st century educated students who have great collaboration skills, one of the four Cs of 21st Century Learning. Teachers are doing a great job preparing students for the work force. Yet there are those ignorant enough to constantly criticize teachers. Canadian public education is world class, and we have to stop the neo-liberals from destroying public education.
  21. It is not even close to being long on veiled and overt rhetoric. Did you even read it? So you are OK with the current government's push for the privatization of public education creating a two tiered system? Do you even understand the threats public education is facing? I think this is one topic you know little about. Please educate yourself. also courts ruled in favour of the BCTF. Were you even aware of that?
  22. This may also give you some understanding of the neo-liberal agenda. Read and try to understand reality and join us in resistance. http://www.solidarity-us.org/site/node/1708
  23. I posted a link? Did you actually take the time to read it?
  24. Stating the obvious adds nothing to the discussion. Educate yourself on the neo-liberal agenda to privatize public education.
  25. Why would it when they are doing their part to cause it?
