  1. Jimwd we don't get a lot of V-Islanders on the forum. I would be interested in your take. Is my impression you guys feel alienated from Ottawa and believe by the time the election vote gets to you its all decided anyways? Is it a stereotype all V Islanders are worried about the environment? I have been to V Island twice. Can't say enough about it although Victoria I guess is too expensive for me but I think your island is beautiful. I think if I lived there and not in a large city like I do now, Mississauga which is really a suburb of Toronto, I think I would be very concerned about pollution and the environment given what happened off the coast of Alaska. I think we in greater Toronto stereotype all V Islanders as hippies and Green Party but I know that is not true. I do though want to hear your take on being a West Coaster and whether you think Trudeau or anyone in Ottawa or Ontario, etc. gives a damn about you. Believe it or not some of us respect you in Eastern Canada when you have environmental concerns or opinions about energy, fisheries, etc.
  2. Hey Monsieur Trudeau when running for the leader of the country last week stood at a podium that says he fights for Quebec. Clearly Quebecers outside Montreal Island do not believe him.
  3. Yah here they are....PYD terrorists:
  4. Our generation created the ones after us. We created the economic limitations that force them to stay home longer. Some are trying to save money to get a house. Not all are free loaders.
  5. If I was Sheer I would step down and let McCay take over and the Tories internally will be thinking that. As for the arrogantt Trudeau he utters a divisive childish Trump victory speech that only adds fuel to thenpolaizatin he is fueling.
  6. Not a chance. Trust me. The moment I give a mark below 100 they file a complaint claiming I say horrible things in class hoping I feel frightened and change their mark. You have no clue. University is a money grab with no entrance requirements anymore. It is full of illiterate closed minded uninterested zombies who play on there cell phones and feel they can not be failed. Please come sit in a lecture. Profs pass everyone and are afraid to say anything. Trust me I am offensive and should be fired and will be I just failed students in an exam. As for disunity thank Trudeau. He put up a sign on his podium saying he fights for Quebec in k a national election? ...,.and he is supposed to represent all of Canada? His blatant ethical violation was defended by him as putting his constituents before the rest of Canada...and you blame the media for reporting that? Look no further than Trudeau. He played the urban city new Canadian and ethnc vote to get reelected and it got him back in for now.
  7. Your generation craves being mindless programmed internet zombies. Thanks but I pass. Baaaaaa mooooo
  8. Anyone want to discuss Trump offspring and tell me they are any different than Biden's son? All of them use their father's connections and name. Using Trump's very argument as to Biden's son Trump is corrupt and should be investigated and we do not need the assistance of Ukraine to do that.
  9. Interesting how Altai throws out the word terrorist. But could she pick one out of al line up? How many months ago was it "Altai" was sending posts accusing Israel of killing innocent Palestinian civilians because they were a terrorist regime?
  10. No not when the quid pro quo deals with a personal interest being obtained as part of that quid pro quo.
  11. Lol I thought you were going to say Uranus.
  12. Hey N Banana, I really do believe the next generation politically has been dumbed down by cell phone and internet, that said and I think Besty's point is, sometimes with those in the next generations, until they have their own crisis or two, they won't get it. I wish Besty was wrong but if people brought up in relative safety and privilege like we have in Canada have never really done with shortages or hardships, until they do they don't get certain things. I know myself, travelling to the third and fourth world and to certain conflict zones or other unstable regions made me see or perceive things I would not have, had I remained in Canada and I did this at 15, 16 and 17 at a time when Vietnam, Nixon were very much on everyone's mind and had made everyone cynical. So I think Besty is right. Any of us who have had children realize, you can't teach your kids life experience-you have to have faith when they encounter life, they learn from their mistakes. Maybe I am old and bias at 63 but I just do not see Trudeau, Sheer or Singh as having had adequate life experience to run a country or understand the hardships of others. I also don't think you have to be a certain age to have experienced vital things in life either. So for example, JFK was a very young man when he got to office but he fought in a war and almost died in that war and saved a fellow seaman so to me that is a valuable life lesson about war he learned young but was really important. As much as I found Prince Philip to be a real racist dolt at times, this man survived the sinking of his ship in WW2 and kept men awake at sea until they were rescued and he served in very dangerous missions so it counts as life experience. So does Elizabeth fixing trucks and walking through the London bombings keeping people calm by herself displaying calm. I look at everyone's life experiences as much as I do their cv's and I am sorry if I was a young person, its hard to have confidence in anything our Canadian leaders who ran in this election have done. I think there are young people who are smart, care, and will take on the mess our generations before them left. I will not write them all off anymore than my generation was written off at one point by the one before us who said we were to soft and sheltered we had never gone through a war.
  13. ????????????? You running some sort of dating service? Mail order Canadian brides?
  14. I personally suspect with zero proof anyone who is an elected US Senator has some sort of corrupt background. The entire process on capital hill deals with bribing congressmen and senators. That Biden used his insider knowledge to pass info to his son is likely and absolutely no different than what Trump has done with his family. However the issue is not whether Biden is corrupt. That is a real issue and there is a legal system in the US that could be used to deal with that if its true, It would be the same legal system that to assure its separation from state and is not influenced by political considerations that would taint its ability to fairly and independently investigate that also prevents the sitting US President from using his powers of office to pressure foreign heads of state or anyone to investigate Biden or anyone or for that matter prevent investigations against the US President for what he did that BEFORE he was US President or deal with actions that show he may have used his powers of office for personal gain. When it comes to Trump his supporters claim any questioning of what Trump has done is a political conspiracy but would have you believe Trump's for investigating Biden are not partisan. Trump demands one standard for himself that nothing he does is motivated by personal gain and can be questioned while at the same time accusing everyone else of being politically motivated against him. That is the product of a person who has a Narcissistic personality disorder-Trump can not fathom anything that deals with him personally and benefits him personally is not automatically the best thing not just for Americans but the entire world. He is unable to differentiate himself from others and the possibility the two are not the same. The classic explanation is that at a particular time of emotional development as a child, he became arrested, or unable to learn to clearly differentiate you from me, other external from internal and as a result, in later life has a flawed cognitive process that in turn, results in flawed emotional and psychological impulses and responses to the world around him and its needs conflicting with his own. The abusive language also illustrates insecurity and serious self doubts as he can feel a conflict between himself and the outside world but can't understand why. In his perceptions, anything that disagrees with him is a threat. He grew up in a sheltered environment with little or no emotional displays and where no one would have told him NO and he pretty much was left alone and had all his needs met with no conflicts until he found himself in an outer world where people would not serve him. So he reconstructed a world of servants who would glorify him and never say no and his supporters serve as those servants fetching his slippers. He has the psychological profile of many flawed dictators.
  15. To be clear here is the issue the Trump supporters on this forum dismiss as only politically motivated and I am quoting it from: source: https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/ny-trump-tax-returns-1.5311596?cmp=rss "Trump's lawyers have said that Vance's investigation is politically motivated and that the request for tax records should be stopped because Trump is immune from any criminal probe as long as he is president. The judge swept that claim aside as overly broad. "As the court reads it, presidential immunity would stretch to cover every phase of criminal proceedings, including investigations, grand jury proceedings and subpoenas, indictment, prosecution, arrest, trial, conviction, and incarceration," Marrero wrote. "That constitutional protection presumably would encompass any conduct, at any time, in any forum, whether federal or state, and whether the president acted alone or in concert with other individuals." " So The above is what is being appealed. What precipitated the above was: "Cohen is serving a three-year prison sentence for crimes that included campaign finance violations in connection with the hush money. Trump was never charged, though prosecutors said publicly that he was aware of and directed the illegal payments. Justice Department policy has long been that sitting presidents cannot be charged criminally."..... ...Cohen turned over copies of financial statements he said the president provided to Deutsche Bank during a 2014 effort to buy the Buffalo Bills. The statements showed Trump's net worth soaring from $4.55 billion US in 2012 to $8.66 billion US in 2013." So with the above in mind, I ask this, why do Trump supporters on this board blank out the full context of issues involving Trump and reduce every issue that deals with him to a political conspiracy against him by his haters.? What world do you guys live in? He's no martyr. He is a deeply flawed individual with some serious issues that the public has a right to seek clarity on. No President is above the laws he demands others to follow. He's A tax scam artist not some role model or Saint. Please you supporters of Trump explain to me how is it someone who reported financial losses of $1.7 billion from 1985 to 1994 is a role model of someone who can run business let alone the US economy. Here are the tax issues you Trump supporters ignore in the most simple of terms so you can understand them: https://www.cnn.com/2019/05/07/politics/trump-tax-returns-losses/index.html His entire business record was built on avoiding paying taxes. That is the role model you admire? Good on you. You like someone who avoids paying taxes. Here is the problem those of us have who don't hero worship tax dodgers. This man used the bankruptcy process repeatedly to avoid paying thousands of employees he hired. He's no hero. He played the legal system to avoid being honest and upfront and paying taxes on supposed income earned and he used the legal system to avoid paying employees. You think that is admirable? That's your role model-someone who claims to be a successful businessman by claiming to lose billions to avoid paying tax? Save it. Those are brown stains on his pants not an image of Jesus.
  16. I am not clinging to any hope. Its the other way around actually as you and Trump supporters blindly ignore what has happened: https://www.cbc.ca/news/world/ny-trump-tax-returns-1.5311596?cmp=rss A US District Court Judge ordered his tax returns released and Trump appealed. He appealed because he does not want to release hush money paid to Stormy Daniels which of course none of you Trump supporters have an issue with, Of course none of you have any issue with his repeated bankruptcies and tax returns already released that show he avoided paying taxes playing the tax system. Hey now. How does that work. This is a man who claims he is a brilliant businessman and his sole claim of credibility when it comes to running businesses is that he used tax loopholes to avoid paying tax for years while at the same time claiming he earned millions while avoiding paying thousands of people he employed by using bankruptcy proceedings repeatedly to avoid paying. There's a role model and Saint. Mr. America, man of the people. Lol. Please continue with Donald the Martyr and how is above the law.
  17. It seems you have an idea of what you think law enforcement means and think your idea is the only one possible. It also seems because of that you call anyone who disagrees with you subjective dehumanizing names like criminal, evil, etc.
  18. So let me see if I understand your formula XUL= universal truth Hong Kong dissenter = terror + crime + evil My problem of course is you assume because you create the formulas, it makes them infallible let alone logical. All you have done is express your subjective biases posing them in a script you pretend is based on objectivity.
  19. A very interesting point that could be debated forever. I would contend aboriginal communities and animistic cultures have shown like the UK has, that you can pass on laws and traditions using forms other than in writing that are effective. I did find this which is a good summary of your position and many legal scholars take about having the constitutional laws written: https://chestofbooks.com/society/law/The-Constitutional-Law-Of-The-United-States/24-So-Called-Natural-Or-Unwritten-Constitutional-Laws-H.html I would say your position is highly popular today. May I simply state the unwritten constitutional laws of the UK were very effective in addressing what their latest Prime Minister did the last few weeks and corrected it and their efficiency would not have been enhanced if their principles were in written form: http://www.slaw.ca/2019/09/24/uk-supreme-court-on-prorogation-the-role-of-unwritten-constitutional-principles/ I think though there is another way to describe what I would argue is the uniqueness of unwritten British constitutional law and that is to say its written and can be found in many sources not just in one document: "On the other hand, the British Constitution has advanced over a long span of time, emulating the comparative consistency of the British polity. It has never been considered as important to merge the fundamental units of this order in the United Kingdom. The constitutional law of the United Kingdom is an accretion of different decrees, judicial decisions, conventions and treaties which mutually can be called as the British Constitution. Therefore, it will be right to refer to the constitution of Britain as an 'unmodified' structure, instead of an 'unwritten' one. " see:https://fcansw.org.au/unwritten-constitutional-law-of-the-united-kingdom/ Much of the US constitutional law is unwritten, it only starts with its actual written constitution. A classic example is the determination of abuse of political powers of its President.
  20. I do not agree with or support conspiracy theories. If Trump has committed any illegalities it is up to the courts to decide but he should not use his office to stay above the law of the land. He also as a public figure can not accuse others of being suspect and corrupt and not think he will be held to the same standard. Your concern about conspiracies should also apply to his that he throws at others in his constant twitter attacks. Using your reasoning in the second sentence he should now not question Biden.
  21. That is absolutely true. I can not argue with that at all.
  22. Maybe. Maybe not. I do admit when using straws I suck at it. I concede that.
  23. Yah like any other person questioning him. Its all a dream. https://www.washingtonpost.com/opinions/2019/02/28/case-getting-trumps-tax-returns-just-got-stronger-more-urgent/ https://www.esquire.com/news-politics/a26991557/trump-new-york-legal-problems/ https://www.thedailybeast.com/donald-trump-and-kids-named-in-dollar250m-tax-scam Yah I know a guy who claims over 900 million in losses and repeat bankruptcies to avoid paying people is your hero. Got it.
  24. I disagree. What he says has been proven 13,000 times in independent fact checks as being untrue. So the fact he says his businesses took a hit given his pathological lying is meaningless. I would love to see the financial info you have on him. Did Rudy give it to you? https://www.washingtonpost.com/graphics/politics/trump-claims-database/
