Excuse me the only television drama that accurately depicts Canada is Corner Gas which has been off the air for a few years now and was the best real life documentary I have ever seen about Canada. Please watch it. You could learn a lot from it how to avoid cholesterol and wars.

Well then some not all gay and transgendered people should not expect to be adored is the point. If you feel the necessity to turn sexual lifestyle or identity choices into a public matter, you should expect backlash from some. It goes with the territory of making anything public. I think that is the point some are making on this thread without necessarily being for or against any lifestyle or identity choice. Me, I think these things should be a private decision and I personally feel if you over emphasize your physical attributes in public, you can expect negative feedback. Its part of a preoccupation we all have for material or physical values, not spiritual ones. Its a sign of the times where we all get caught up on surface in your face values and don't dig deeper to find out what makes people tick. Its just the way it is today with people glued to ten second messages brainwashing them to buy and dispose of items and therefore values. Someone comfortable with themselves and who they are doesn't need to preach who they are, their confidence and actions do the talking. I maintain the position that unless sexual preference engages or encourages violence or the exploitation of vulnerable people and non consensual sex, it should not be a state matter. Hollywood has jumped on the transgender issue as they do any issue. Its the trend of the moment so they ride it. They will move on to another trend just as they quickly moved off of Harvey Weinstein to transgenderism. They will no doubt find some other trend soon. Hollywood and the media simply reflect the trend of the day. Look at all the young women who feel it necessary to say they are bisexual and announce it. Its a p.r. stunt to put there name in the news that is all.
-
Yes you certainly evidence that.
-
I agree that sexual identity has been turned into an often illogical absurd theatre of political correctness. I take the classic conservative approach that sexuality is a private matter and should not be a state matter unless it is to regulate non consexual sex with minors, or violence. I fear too many people are obssessed with changing who they are rather than accept who they are. That said I speak for no one's genitals but my own.

Yes I can see why you question your parents.

I respect your comment but I debate it. To start with I personally do not agree with Bill 21 in the sense I think it went too far but I do defend the Quebec government's right to pass it on the grounds they are trying to define a common culture all must be willing to conform to in Quebec IF they want to work in QUEBEC's public service. I give Quebecois the benefit of the doubt the intent of Bill 21 was not to discriminate but to prevent the appearance of a public servant that could be construed as a bias when he or she serving the public. If someone is of such a rigid and fundamental belief system that they can't compromise their appearance to look neutral for the public when serving the public yes it can give me as a person appearing before them a degree of anxiety in that how do I know for example if the public employee is being rude because he's having a bad day or because I am not of his religious group? The law is trying to neutralize the appearance of government so that people outside the visible religious group will not feel there is an appearance of bias or conflict and remember in law the test for either conflict or bias is not an actual one, but the appearance of one. I also think it is naïve to think we can be all things to all people at the same time while being a public servant..Something has to give. I myself not always but in certain situations did feel uncomfortable when I encountered dressed in orthodox attire serving the public and myself because yes I do think they might have further biases that are attached to the ones they have that require they dress as they do and I am not able to distinguish that possible bias. No I do not want to be served by someone who covers their face in its entirety or is nude because their religion says clothes are an evil construct. There are limits. That's why I say, I have no problem when serving the public to wear a public uniform to assure consistency, neutrality and confidence in that role. I have in the court wearing a black robe. That said, where I disagree with Bill 21, is how far it goes. For me a police officer wearing a turban incorporated in the police hat is a good compromise I think. So is a covering that does NOT cover the face. That's only my opinion. That said, I also believe if Mr. Singh can expect people to respect his visible minority rights in Quebec, he must also respect the minority rights of Quebecers which he does not. His idea of showing tolerance was suggesting taking poutines and turning it into an Indian recipe which he had no idea showed his bigotry. He could not just accept a simple Quebec recipe, he had to change it to his liking. That showed intolerance not tolerance and its a small thing but it told Quebecers a lot at how two faced he was and how he expects everyone to respect his identity but he had no respect for the Quebcois identity. It's why I have no problem with the Quebec government requiring people speak French to be part of their society, Just as Quebecers want the right to speak French in the rest of Canada and in Quebec, English Quebecers should expect that right in Quebec which is what I was. I grew up bilingual and spoke French because the majority were French and no one had to tell me to do that. No French person ever told me to speak French or not speak English. It was a matter of basic courtesy and politeness. When it became political it was attached to other political issues that had nothing to do with common courtesy, respect, politeness and was caught up in a fear of French Quebecois cultural being swept up by a greater Anglo world and most of my French friends spoke English and transcended languages ad cultures and chose to rise above their one identity and find co-exist with many others. I mean its the very lesson of the Montreal Canadiens which is in essence the visible representation of French Quebec excellence in the entire North American context but more than working alone with non Franco-Quebecers who put that uniform on. Its both. No one felt a Montreal Canadiens was less Canadiens because they were not a Franco Quebecer. The uniform had an added weight if you were a Franco Quebecer but it was a weight non Franco Quebecers and other Canadians embraced as best they could in their own way to make it more bearable for the French players. A true Quebecer is a Canadiens fan which means it will always and has to always be a FRENCH symbol of excellence but it warmly embraces the help achieving its excellence from Anglo players. Rocket Richard was to the Canadiens as Moses was to we Jews. Morenz, Dryden, Bowman, Blake, Big M, plenty of Anglos bled and would bleed for the Rocket's vision. The Rocket represented and still does any minority told they were not good enough. So with that context in mind some Quebecers use their nationality as couched bigotry but others do not. Its complex.

Well then be fair....is it sexism or the fact that most pedophiles are men..
-
That's the behavior we expect of people compensating for lack of self worth. There is nothing to like or dislike. That would be a waste of emotion. People who have this kind of approach are simply written off and ignored when possible so they have to make loud farting noises in crowds to try get the attention they no longer get. Trump's twitter is a fart box.

So much for foreplay.

I believe myself looking after refugees in refugee camps makes more sense so they are closer to their homes when sanity comes back and they can move back. I think we set many up for failure by bringing them to Canada. However in the case of privately sponsored refugees they are not a burden on the state. Also the stats on refugees on welfare is not 100% accurate its a snap shot of a certain time period that does not provide an accurate analysis of how long it takes for refugees to assimilate and/or whether their next generation or the one after has the effect of paying back any money they "cost" Canada. Also refugees facing genocide, imminent death or torture, we do have a moral role to protect..to what extent is of course subject to debate but the moral obligation is there it doesn't disappear simpy based on snap shot financial analysis. ..back to the thread, the party Bernier created like himself was completely rejected. Its also interesting to see why. People do not understand Quebecois. Just as Jameet Singh wears a turban and a beard and says he can be what ever he wants in Canada, so do Quebecois. They wear their nationality as Singh does his ethnic and religious identity and Singh never grasped that and never will. In Singh's mind he is a minority who can be a visible minority and expect immediate acceptance of his visible minority status-when a Quebecois does the same thing in regards to their perceived visible minority status...he calls it racism. Thus he lost all his seats in Quebec and Trudeau who pandered to ethnics in large cities to get elected did the same in Quebec being such a whore he put " I stand up for Quebec" on his podium indicating what everyone should know....Trudeau panders to whoever he thinks will vote for him and in so doing has alienated Canada outside Toronto and Montreal repeating his father's same behavior which fanned separatism both in the West and in Quebec. Singh did not understand and never will that Quebecois like him put their ethnicity or perceived visible minority status as a hyphen before the name Canadian. Take it from this minority....if I choose which is my right to grow a long beard, wear a covering/hat, dress in black, and make myself a visible minority based on religious precepts...its a democratic choice but to pretend it will not alienate me from the rest of the cultural environment I live in is naïve and it shows I am now willing to adjust my identity to the values of the environment I am in to a certain extent-it shows a rigid, fundamentalist set of beliefs not flexible ones. Flexible ones are necessary in a democracy which requires people compromise. So you can choose to believe certain values are beyond compromise but you can NOT expect everyone to agree with your values. Singh wants everyone to accept him as he is, but when Quebecois roll out their collective identity as he did his, he called it unfair. Trudeau on the other hand simply panders to anyone he thinks is listening an simply trots out platitudes to get elected. The Trudeau election strategy of pandering to large population density ridings with ethnics and not worrying about what was outside the cities, is what got him elected. It was a deliberate strategy and it depended on ethics being made to feel afraid of non ethnic Canadians. It worked in Trudeau's case. In Bernier's case it was mentally retarded. Bernier is mentally retarded. His processing of cognitive thought is delayed. He could not figure out if he simply says what he did not like, which he did, he left nothing else to vote for. His platform other than he wanted to reduce immigration sounded imbecilic. It made no economic sense what-so-ever and it showed. Since he was playing the Trump card, the Block Quebecois already does that in Quebec in regards to the rest of Canada and believe it or not Singh did the same thing as his own community will tell you and explain why he has to run to BC to get elected since in his own riding he is so polarizing his own community won't elect him. Trudeau got elected simply because people did not like Sheer. End of story. Bernier was a non factor. His one trick pony mental retardation does not attract votes and never will. In this day and age people need you to enunciate something clear even if it is a set of non stop lying, denial and studdering like Trudeau or Sheer for that matter,

No surprise. He was a Toronto Municipal politician and dentist. No one would know him except his former Toronto riding and of course individuals such as myself who of course know everything Betsy. Middle of the road guy on social issues. Had a good grasp on inner city transportation issues. He could be a good Mayor I think but I can' see him on the National level myself but he's a well spoken, thoughtful person well in my opinion of course.

And? ....you think this would make them what exactly.........people swear a lot of things and?

Proportional Representation Discussion
Rue replied to Michael Hardner's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
...then ridings would not pick their own MP's....been there done that with you experts on reform...you are never happy until someone you vote for has the most seats....since your boy Trudeau won enjoy...you know why he won... -
I deleted your comments except for the above which I now address for the sake of brevity not to take your words out of context: In regards to 1, Trump does nothing for the US or Canada. He simply acts for his own self interests which you pose as being one and the same as US interests because of your partisan bias for Trup. In regards to 2, its not easy to point out to you what Trump has done wrong. You are in denial. I would do an intervention but you will probably show up with a Trump hat and some US piss beer and start singing Glod Bless America. Thanks but I pass. I also do not find it easy trying to explain to Canadians why we need a proper Armed Forces but I try. In regards to 3, the GOP at this point is a bunch of self centered Republicans deciding should they sink or swim with Trump. I have never stated or felt they favour any specific interests. I appreciate in American politics, like all politics, politicians first and foremost worship their own needs and then form alliances based on preserving their butt. I am not the one pretending any of these politicians are Saints as you do Trump. You mistake me for you when it comes to inflated delusional expectations or perceptions as to politicians.
-
The hiring was blatant and up front. Tell me do you hold Trump to the same standard? Why do you not also criticize how his sons are using their father's Presidential status to make deals? Where have you been? Do you want to tell me the outrage you have for offspring of politicians beings and ends only at Biden Jr.? The selectivity is about as credible as your trying o blame what Trump said and did on CNN. https://www.latimes.com/politics/story/2019-10-10/trumps-adult-children-do-business-overseas-as-president-slams-biden https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/politics/2019/10/10/trumps-children-take-millions-overseas-president-slams-bidens-son/40298825/ https://www.usnews.com/opinion/articles/2018-03-05/how-is-donald-trump-profiting-from-the-presidency-let-us-count-the-ways https://www.cheatsheet.com/money-career/all-the-ways-trump-cashes-in-on-the-u-s-presidency.html/

In regards to your first statement it is my opinion as well and I believe it could be proven as a FACT with measure objective analysis because the actual defence spending and boots on the ground is factual reality not your subjective feelings so I defer to that opinion, myself. I am doing something about Putin. I speak out about him and urge Americans not to ally with him. I think he is as dangerous as Stalin, Hitler or any other totalitarian dictator. I think he is a threat to any democracy. I speak out about Putin no differently than I do Trump or the Chinese government or when Trudeau abuses his political powers and threatens democracy.

Supply chain economics in Canada has been protecting small farmers since Canada started in 1867. It is as much a part of the fabric of Canadian politics as is medicare and gun control. These 3 things plus strong regulation of banks which Americans call communist tendencies Canadians of all political parties embrace. Its a non partisan issue. We won't allow Americans to dump cheap milk in Canada, put out of business are dairy farmers, then yank up the prices once they have destroyed our milk producers and have no competition. We protect our farmers no differently than the US does its own. The US engages in the very same predatory pricing tactics as China when it comes to dumping or what I call Walmart Cancer Marketing,

I think he is strongly identified with the previous Progressive Conservative Party and so to pick him now, might alienate the former Reformist wing and cause a schism. Me personally I think he would be a good candidate. I think he could sell himself across Canada very well and has the qualities Sheer does not. Marcus mentioned Michael Chong. He is another middle of the road or progressive Tory but I am not sure he would carry nationally and I never did understand why he did not do better in Toronto. He was a pretty middle of the road inoffensive politician but voters tuned him out. I really do not know why.

WE have great respectful disagreements on this, you, me, Y, Bush et al. No prob! I obviously have a more traditional Republican view on foreign policy similar to Mit Romney and John McCain and mybias is upfront and blatant and just as bias and blatant as it is for pro Trump people-no probs ! None of us hide our partisan views. I have no issue with the US picking and choosing where it puts its soldiers as you and Buch-C and Y said. That issue I have no issue with. Its not up to me to say or volunteer anyone for death or needless war. I get that and what you said and if Trump is indeed motivated by peace I would never disagree with that kind of motive. I just did not like the way he in the next breath explained moving US soldiers to Saudi Arabia because the Saudis pay. That lowers the US to being a whore. Excuse me but I do not see the US as a whore or its soldiers as mercenaries as naïve as that may sound. I just think on this particular specific thewithdrawal exposing the Kurds Trump blew it on his timing and has exposed Kurd civilians to needless death bnot to mention embarrassing the Kurds which will come back to haunt him if he needs them again to fight ISIL which will resurge. I make no bones about it. I think Erdogan like Putin and Kim are not the kind of allies Trump should be cozying up to. These are anti-thetical for everything the US stands for.,You know my biases. I felt Obama sold out the US on foreign policy and I think Trump has as well. I again state ultimately only Americans can rule or vote on that not me. Just my opinion. I see Trump as compromised by Putin and doing his bidding. There is zero doubt in my mind Putin has dirt on Trump he has used to manipulate him and control US foreign policy and I think all the Americans blindly following Trump need a wake up call. The isolationism he stands for is nothing new. Its exactly the same kind of isolationism Henry Ford and pro Nazi Americans stood for. I Eisenhower was no communist for defeating Hitler. My idea of a Republican is Eisenhower or McCain or Romney not Trump. I do not think Trump is cleaning up anything. He is simply looking after his own selfish interests. He compromised US relations with Ukraine over what-a personal vendetta with Biden and Biden's son over an appointment to a board for Biden Jr. that most certainly came about because of a political connection which I do NOT excuse but Trump is mixing up his personal vendetta with the interests of the US as a whole and Trump's children and son in law and daughter are knee deep in financial scandals while he is in office so he needs to start with his own behavour. Trump is cleaning up no swamp. He brought one with him, over 10 years of tax invasion to avoid paying tax and rip off people he did not want to pay with repeat bankruptcy manouvers. He is no loyal American he is a whore and a parasite in my opinion and someone who evaded military service and paying his fair share of taxes. He is no role model. Erdogan is a dangerous, unstable, totalitarian dictator no better than Hussein, Ghaddafi. Stalin, Assad, Mussolini, Hitler.

I challenge this thread as being an automated spambot script from the New Turkey Digital Office as I did on another thread.

How "Altai" continues on this forum is anyone's guess. I call all its contents and this entire thread as trolling and "saçmalık" . The entire contents of the writings under the name "Altai: contain no objective content and are limited to subjective allegations of rants of the spambot creator. The source of this spambot is THE NEW TURKEY DIGITAL OFFICE and I again call it out as phony. https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/turkish-president-s-social-media-campaigners-deny-being-a-troll-army-10301599.html http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/opinion/emre-kizilkaya/turkeys-ruling-akp-fields-new-digital-army-82384 https://www.dailydot.com/layer8/turkey-propaganda-war-syria-google-reviews/

I challenge the originator of the thread as a spambot from Russia and not an individual. It keeps coming back using a new name. It is not a person. It is an automated script.

Rona Ambrose would not be able to. Not enough experience handling money and business. They need an outsider like Mulroney was. If they went back to Peter MacCay it would cause a spilt inside the party. Sheer was picked as a compromise candidate to avoid Mackay or Kenney. He's basically a Harper loyalistwithout Harper's abilities. He does not have what it takes. He's not liked by Canadians. He's not hated but he's not liked. He comes across very limp. Unfortunately say what you want but people want some charisma and some strong image. Where you find an outsider who would want to enter politics I do not know.
