  1. Now you Trump cultists want to play semantics and say making slurs agaist Latinos is not about race? Really? I for one never used the word race I said he singled out and he most certainly slurred all Latinos. You want to deflect and pretend he did not by arguing Latinos are not a race? That was never the issue. The issue was his using slurs against an entire people he identified. He's an ignorant pig. Whether that is racism, sexism, agism, culturalism, xenophobia who the phack cares its ignorance. Its divisive ignorance meant to scapegoat and rally his alleged supporters by giving them a common reason to hate. That was and remains the issue.
  2. Your words reflect self-entitlement and living in a bubble perceptions. Had you lived in a shit hole of a country you would know better. This country is molded together by many people-many who do not fit your narrow definition of an acceptable white person-you use Kadr as a platform to spew hatred about all Canadians. Kadr reflects one person-himself just as your words reflect one person-yourself. You referring to anyone or anything as shit simply reflects your own self-loathing perception projected through externalization.
  3. You see no parallel because you feel you are not the object of the hatred. The build the wall chant was in direct association and continuation of anti Latino chants. It was not an anti-illegal chant. The words from Trump singled out ALL Latinos as rapist scrum. I do not assume all illegal immigrants are anything. I do not assume illegal or legal immigrants are anything but human. Their legal status does not define their being human. Don't confuse me with you or Trump supporters who don't have the balls to admit what you ridicule.
  4. Its a fun chant. Chanting out hate jingos slurring all Latinos simply because people are Latino is not fun. Its vile. The words did not differentiate it lumped all Latinos as rapist scum. His words are not fun. This idiot is supposed to be a world leader. Such words incite hate attacks. This idiot the other day at a rally starts babbling about the Oscar movie Parasite simply because it won best picture and it was NOT an American movie. That's not fun-its ignorance-its a man playing to ignorance of his audience-he is divisive, he is using divisive messages about anyone who does not fit his code of what an "American" is and that is no different than what Hitler did to unify his audience. NO DIFFERENCE and the consequences of dividing people by trying to unify your own supporters by hating others is bullshit.
  5. In response to Army Guy. As you know Armed Guy, the constitution is a mix of oral protocols, case law precedents that are now followed by courts, statutes such as the Constitution Act, treaties with native communities the British government signed with these communities prior to Canada's coming into existence but were inherited and recognized as being inherited by our Canadian legal system. Add to that we have a constitutional framework that created a constant legal dynamic or tension between the provinces and federal government over jurisdiction to implement laws and a second tension between the federal government and a parallel government of the indigenous peoples. Then we added a Charter of Rights which now creates yet another tension which now enables individuals to push their individual rights in as wide an application as the law will allow it thanks to the Supreme Court of Canada. So bottom line, you have provs, hundreds of indigenous nations, and now individuals all fighting for more rights coming to court with ambiguous doctrines and legal precedents that don't help matters as they can be argued any way you feel like it. Then of course to top that all off you have an amendment formula which makes amending any constitutional law damn near impossible. You would need unanimous consent from all provinces, the feds and the entire nation of nations constellation to change any constitutional doctrine. Welcome to Canada. Uh yah it can be a friggin mess Army at least from a legal perspective. You bloody well may as well expect a Charter challenge on anything and everything to do with enforcing any legal power by any government and because of that, politicians trying to avoid making any decisions that could trigger such a challenge...and so we have what I call Charter syndrome a fear factor that is behind almost every damn political issue of the day and I would suggest not withstanding Trudeau. is a problem any fed or prov leader will now face not just with native peoples but all individuals. For many Canadians its a source of complaint, doomsday scenarios and annoyance at not forcing laws onto people who are considered whiners.I get that sentiment that we now have a nation of self entitled victims all seeking compensation and no one wanting to take responsibility for their own lives but instead demand the governments do it for them. Some believe the ultimate conclusion to all this is soldiers. When all else fails, throw in the soldiers or police. Throw you guys out to do what? We can't take advantage of our freedom to discuss anything and solve anything we want, so we throw you guys out? Oh phack that. My perspective Army is Ivolunteered in a country of constant war and violence and travelled to many others with the same violence or serious problems that make ours seem so trivial.I gratefully live in Canada with all the freedoms most people in the world could never imagine having let alone natural resources most people can't even fathom and the people born here whine and whine and whine over disagreements that grade schoolers could settle if they wanted to. Excuse my rejection of those sentiments of those who think you solve everything by sending out soldiers to do your dirty work. For me this is nothing more than lizard politicians trying to preserve their own fiefdoms of power. They have lost touch with their constituents. I appreciate the impatience of people. I do. I am not snot nosing the anger they may have. I just don't think throwing our army or police out is a remedy. In a democracy its painfully slow to make changes in a civil manner. Dougie is right you can have a guy make trains run on time but what else does that leader bring? To this day I hear, Mussolini made the trains run on time... Hitler was efficient you have to hand him that.. he made his trains run on time. Yah they did. Then again in Jamaica you ask someone, what time is the bus or plane coming and they simply say, SOON COME MAN SOON COME and that could mean an hour, a day, who the phack knows. Thanks given the choice of sittin in the shade waiting or having some angry man goose step in my face... I will take the former not the latter. It may be slow but a train running on time don't mean much to me especially when that train is headin to some destination of extinction. Not the greatest of answers but heartfelt.
  6. Listen kid you sound cranky. People my age solve that with prune juice.
  7. Both yes and no. The tax cuts most certainly triggered added spending to kick start the economy to underdo the failures of tax cuts as was stated by Bush. There would be a deficit without tax cuts but there is a larger deficit because of them. Both causal connections have been agreed upon by economists on either side of the debate on tax cuts. Budgets could be balanced by the way. There is no reason they can't be. Politicians do not choose to balance budgets because its a fiction. The timing of collecting revenue and generating deficits from expenses are never at the same time so the best one can do is balance during a targeted period of time and even that is a guess because you come in over or under. However balanced budgets are a goal to reach and have been reached by many governments.
  8. Betsy there are some good ethical companies and good scientists out there working with indigenous communities balancing environmental concerns with a way to get natives employed and get work for many others. They get drowned out by others. It's hard to keep track although Mo and Zei and Scrib on the other thread covered it a bit. I know some people are fed up with PC b.s. All I can say is it's a damn political quick sand of a mess. It can suck you in real good and smother you with emotional rhetoric and legal paradoxes. I still think sanity will prevail and this will resolve itself soon. When the railroad was first built it was literally an explosive exercise. A lot of people blew up carrying that nitro each step of the way towards building the tracks that became the foundation of our country. I suspect that analogy when dealing with this issue. You move to fast and boom..but it will get done. You can not stop the trains.
  9. I am here to sing a happy tune hug Banana and Besty and give them a balloon then I sing to that Commie Eye don't be worring about days being nigh PK, WES Shady remember this I will always give you guys and Jacee a kiss cheer is what I bring to this thread who me tell anyone to drop dead weez all one big happy family our nation tis of thee no wait thats for Yanks I hate Tom Hanks I better stop and not go on God bless Celine Dion Back to the original premises of the thread-when people are convinced their cause is right and infallible whether its a religious value, or any other value they can take on the same rigid absoluteness. I subscribe to the school of political psychology that believes insecurity fuels extremist values and the more insecure one feels, the more extreme their beliefs become to try alleviate that insecurity. Case in point, Hitler. His extremism was a reaction to and a remedy for a group collective feeling of humiliation he picked up on thta his country felt after losing WW2. The insecurity of being humiliated fueled his personna that addressed that. So can be said of most dynamic leaders. They pick up on group neuroses or insecurities and throw them back out redefined as specific stereotyped enemies that can be easily conquered. There is a a very real insecurity many deal with when it comes to the environment. They see themselves born into a polluted world they think no one cares about and feel directly threatened by it and this react extremely. The young girl from Sweden was in fact an illustration of a very stressed out, insecure girl feeling the full weight of the future of the planet on her and instead of adults identifying that and saying they had displaced their problems on her and helping her decompensate, fuel her trauma because they agree with her underlying message. In so doing exploit her psyche and use the image of a stressed out child hoping it will spur others on to better behaviour. All I see is a child being exploited-any message she gives for me is diluted by that fact. The psychological damage being done to her trotting her out as an environmental warrior is unforgiveable. In regards to the native peoples, there are groups within their nations very much concerned about the environment but there are also others simply interested in making money no different than anyone else and posing as being concerned about the environment and mixing with the mother-earth types and using them as a cover for their own agendas which are often fueled by anger of not being part of the network of kickbacks they think they have missed out on. Its a complex issue where indigenous conflicts between their groups and environmental conflicts inter-connect or divert in interests depending on who in the nation of indigenous nations you speak to. Likewise with business representatives.
  10. I isolate the above words. They get to the heart f one of the continuing legal issues. When Canada's non indigenous government created the structure of the myriad of indigenous nations we mixed unelected (inherited, bloodline Chiefs) with elected ones. That in itself has created problems as has a lack of uniformity in approaching business by the Chiefs of each nation. Some take kick-backs and look the other way and do not spent it on their communities but hoard it for themselves. Some engage in actually very creative and constructive alliances with businesses employing people from their nations and protecting their environment and building infrastructure in their communities...and some do not trust any form of Western business and shun it. Because of that there is no uniform approach and its very complex as technically each nation among the nations is equal in legal authority and there is no strong leader who can unify these nations at this time. As well some nations have unpaid bills from businesses and still seek compensation for violated treaties while others do not as they have been compensated. The nations within the nation of nations are split. That now requires an indigenous politician with a backbone to be able to sit down and talk with vision and leadership and rally disparate causes and interests. Me Z I personally believe the whole reservation system was created because it was an exercise in couching or sanitizing or containing indigenous people in open air prisons and keeping them separate from European settlers. That was then. Dwelling on the past simply prevents moving ahead. Yes the reservation system was part of an exercise to jail people without using walls. Its time to take those walls or reservations down. Enough already. Its time to focus on what can be done now to heal any remainingconflicts. It is also time to deal head on with the corruption within the indigenous self governing structure and with the ineptitude in our own federal government's handing of the indigenous portfolio. The question is will anyone surface from the indigenous and on indigenous communities who can do this? It certainly won't be Prince Justin of Trudeau or his Band of Merry Men, Bill, Seamus, etc.
  11. It would be amazing if people listened to it when they needed shelter; it would be lovely if they didn't spit on it. Lykke Li
  12. Yer such a happy guy when it comes to Canada. Geez man.... my friggin not so kosher butt is damn happy its in Canada and not in Israel or another country with perpetual conflicts that make ours look tiny in comparison. The warts this country has are nothing compared to most places in the world. You spend far too much time spitting down on the nation. Once I am at it, I respect our country tries to be civil with conflicts. Its time consuming but its far better than blood spilling. I just argue our politicians need to get off their asses and settle the issues they avoid and stop dumping it on police or our soldiers. The civility is not the problem, its the lack of sincere dialogue to resolve the conflicts.
  13. I thought it was well written and am sympathetic to your stated concerns. I think we have since the invention of television of course, and now internet, been heavily influenced by American political culture. The only difference between myself and your position is I do not blame Americans for that influence. We Canadians choose to suck up that influence. No American forces us to. We embrace it. One of the reasons is because we have never had a clear vision of what it is to be Canadian like Americans do of being American. We choose to identify our identity as an infinite possibility of potential values and perceptions making it problematic if not impossible to define. Thus we suck up Americana which if nothing else appears to us as definitive. We do not embrace chauvenism as do Americans in our politics so when we see it in them, it seems much more clear in message then our own understated, myriad and quagmire of possible components. In short we have an identity crisis and look South to a blow hard that loudly brays about his identity and some of us think we should be the same way. The difference between Stompin Tom Connors and American country singers is Tommy never sang about war or guns-his vision of Canada was gentle and made people laugh not want to go to war. I mean come on we have no bombs blasting in our songs.
  14. Y I am not projecting anything on you. I actually believe all of us on this board are guilty of using labels of course. With due respect you are quick to stereotype those you disagree with over Trump as leftist although I much appreciate at least callONG me a Filthy Meutral Milequetoast Fence Sitter WHICH IS TRUE. I have stated the same stereotypes you use on others could just as easily be used against you for the exact same reasons. Partisanship or impartiality does distort perception. That is my only point. This is a partisan thread, none of us are right or wrong. . I enjoy it though when you get annoyed at me for being anti Trump to be honest. For me its fun. I can't take Trump as anything but perpetual farting machine while I appreciate you love him. To each their own.You are a fan of Trump I argue we need a fan for Trump.
  15. He made no evaluation. He only speculated. Icy I would speculate the board is a source of dialogue for many deranged types as well as moi. Hari Krishna.
  16. Every government has had their fair share of incompetence in managing the indigenous portfolio. I think Trudeau's attempting to portray himself as a messiah for the indigenous people though has come back to bite his Royal Smugness/ Our very basis of constitutional laws have created a stalemate between modern business legal interests and indigenous legal rights which are not centralized and represented by a disjointed and dysfunctional constellation of nation councils many of which are corrupt and ripping off their own people refusing to distribute compensation benefits from business to improve their communities.. Both sides have legal arguments that could draw the courts into decades of blither and blather and never come up with a clear set of compromises and so I think this is one of those things practical people need to sit down and deal with and stop posturing over. I do not think business and indigenous peoples are as far apart as some think.Putting in environmental safeguards is possible. So is proper compensation to indigenous communities-its the distribution of that compensation that is as much part of the friction between indigenous peoples as it is environmental concerns.Native people have actually been part of many business project where its been a win-win. They get work but they also can provide practical insights on the environment to prevent risks that cost millions if not billions. This will be settled. I think certain native reps have to stop hoarding compensation from business and reinvest it in their communities. I also think certain native people need to become educated in modern environmental technology which can be used to protect their environment and traditions and not have them fearful of other technologies. I myself to not think their legal issues and environmental concerns should be railroaded anymore than people want business interests railroaded.
  17. Yer a commie Grand Mal. I like yer name. I have political seizures myself all the time. Now mind you I hate Trudeau with a passion but I have a different perspective on native rights to access to land than many on this board based on legal doctrine I believe allows natives to make the arguments they are now making and I think some people under-estimate the legal application of the Charter or Rights and certain legal doctrine in regards to native rights if this goes to court. I think this issue needs calmness regardless of who handles it and I think it will be settled. This issue is a symptom of a larger constellation of underlying legal issues that have never been resolved with the indigenous and festers like a rotting wound.
  18. I defer. When you are right you are right if you excuse the pun. Listen there is something you need to know, in Canada we grew up with access to Mrs. Emma Peal of the Avengers, Jane Fonda in Barbarella, Raquel Welch in that movie where she ran around in a loin cloth but that was as porno as we got mainstream. The rest had to be smuggled in and put at the back of peep shops in grainy film. Also we considered Anne Murray cute. I always called her Mr. Murray. Then Celine Dion came along and a lot of Canada got confused. So you know the way Trump behaves reminds us of the lady down the street who dressed in man clothes and smoked cigars and this is why we elected McKenzie King who had a thing about his mother or Justin Trudeau and the same thing again. We have unresolved issues with out leaders you Yanks seem to be ok with. Then again France has Mr Marcon and his mother I mean wife, and Boris looks like a complete boozed up draq queen a la Camilla Parker Bowles. The two look very similar. I think Trump reminds me of Benny Hill mixed with a little Charlie Manson.
  19. I actuallly was toning down and editing my response as you responded. Filthy neutral milquetoast fencesitter is still bias in favour of neutrality...good one and I wear that. Of course it is. I never claimed to not have biases. I just claim that the label left or right is overused and often arbitrary. Your assumption Trump is right wing is an interesting one. There are days he sounds an awful llot like Vladimir, no not Putin, Lenin.
  20. Well yes I am laughing. Your analysis of my opinions is welcome.
  21. Now that is an example of the theory of relativity. Still porn is inescapable when discussing Trump's behaviour and the fact is the US will need to take a large collective bath when Trump's reign is over and maybe de-lice itself.
  22. There were no conflicting eyewitness accounts. Also the arguments you make do not mean he did not do what he did they simply raise legal procedural issues that nullify his conviction not that he threw the grenade. The fact is the trajectory was proven. It could not have come from anyone else and there were no other witnesses who said it was thrown by someone else. You missed the point and evidence with due respect and the exercise of defining Kadr as a victimized child is romantic but does not explain why today he profits from what he did and has not seen fit as a true Muslim to evidence repentance and provide money to the widow and not profit personally from the death of another. You can romanticize and turn Kadr into a martyr but the fact remains he is an unrepentant Muslim and using the faith doctrine he claims to follow he is a bad Muslim. Intteresting. There are some on this form who claim Islam is peaceful and does not condone terrorism but do not point out why Islam would not condone what Kadr did and is doing. I do. I am trying to be consistent and show Muslim terrorists like Kadr use Islam to be terrorist and then Westerners make apologies for this bastardization of Islam and look the other way. I repeat again Islam does not condone terrorism or profiting from the death of another and it requires repentance for the killing of another, all things Kadr violated and in his religion he claims to follow he has no excuses for his life today based on blood money and refusing to acknowledge what he did. I argue Kadr shows no repentance because he is a sociopath. His lack of emotions and rehearsed answers all these years later show a manipulative, cold blooded individual. In the future Kadr will snap. It will happen one day at his wife, at one of his children, at a stranger but its only a matter of time until he snaps and rages. Been there done that. He's know cuddly puppy. He is a wild animal. You do not take wild animals home as pets.
  23. He threw it in the heat of the moment but there was no doubt from the trajectory it could only have been from him. No one contested that. Its a fact that spoke for itself and could not be denied. The arguments used to get him off were based on is testimony coming from forced confession and a fa failure to properly disclose evidence to him used against him two violations of his rights under the US constitution. The entire argument of those who now lionize Kadr is that he was a victimized brainwashed child. He is now an adult, 10 million in his pocket and still as unrepentant as ever profiting from the terrorism he engaged in.
  24. How curved does one get before they point at another? Is this another one of them riddles and why do I turn everything into a snide porno comment but I avoided with this one.
  25. You missed the point. Claiming you know the difference between a deranged leftist and a deranged rightist is. That is a partisan bias. You assume when someone disagrees with you they are a leftist and therefore deranged which if anything makes you a right wing deranged individual if we use your reasoning. By the way I do concede derangement but I am not a a lefitist or a rightist, I am a directionless derangement.
