  1. "OTTAWA -- Environment Minister John Baird says Canada will not formally withdraw from the Kyoto protocol, even though the Conservative government's latest throne speech declared the objectives in the global climate change treaty are unattainable. Environmental groups called the statement "patently dishonest," saying if the Tories had the strength of their convictions, they would explicitly abandon the treaty as they promised in the 2004 election campaign and suffer the political consequences. ... Prime Minister Stephen Harper pledged to kill the Kyoto Protocol he was in opposition, describing it as nothing more than scheme to transfer wealth to developing nations. Following the January 2006 the Tories cancelled billions of dollars worth of federal climate change initiatives, but brought them back a year later with new names." Link I don't know about you, but if I thought something was a socialist scheme, I'd want to kill it.
  2. In other words, you are saying that Harper is willing to stick with the so-called "socialist scheme"? I never thought of Harper as a socialist...
  3. If you don't like the prices, don't pay them.
  4. I am also surprised that it wasn't closer to 80% of Afghans saying that they want us to stay until the mission is complete. In light of this poll, the more important question we should be asking is why do so many Afghans want us out of their country?
  5. Interesting, considering that prior to the 2006 federal election, the Strategic counsel overestimated the Conservative vote and underestimated the Liberal vote...and at one point gave the Conservatives an 18 point lead! Not to mention that it is run by a former Conservative... As for the rest of your post, these things have been happening for the past year and a half, and yet that still hasn't changed anything according to the polls.
  6. If you believe the polls, if an election were held today we likely wouldn't see much of a change from the 2006 election. Why would the Conservatives want an election if they are going to end up with the same situation we have now?
  7. What gives you the authority to determine what other people should and shouldn't get upset over?
  8. Yes they do. If you don't have a will, your possessions will go to your family based on DNA.
  9. That's a great argument for legalization. Another good argument for legalization. Legalize it and tax it.
  10. Nothing...if you don't mind having elections every couple of months. Surely loses? I don't know about that, the Liberals and CPC are pretty close in the polls.
  11. I'm sure Mulroney was thinking the same thing prior to 1987...
  12. That's probably because every time it is brought up, no one can come up with a rebuttal. Instead they just avoid having to come up with an actual argument against it by talking about how cliche it is.
  13. You claimed that Dion admitted he does not connect with anglophones. He did no such thing. You think he implied that. He minimized the importance of speaking English by saying he is working hard to improve his English?
  14. Now, I can't really comment much on the safety of this HPV vaccine, but using the time it took to do the research makes no sense, especially when we are comparing the early 20th century with the early 21st century. That is like comparing the technological advances of the early 1900's with the technological advances of the 21st century.
  15. For someone who constantly criticizes jdobbin for misrepresenting the facts, you are being a bit of a hypocrite here. I don't know, why did Gretzky continue to try and improve at hockey. Would you say hockey players didn't identify with him?
  16. Where did he say anglophones don't identify with him?
  17. You failed to note that those strains are responsible for 70% of cervical cancers and 90% of warts. That's a lot better than nothing, don't you think? link
  18. Interesting analysis. It will be interesting to see whether you are correct. I don't really think so either, but I just thought I'd throw it out there.
  19. I don't think he wants an election, but on the other hand if he thinks the knives are coming out, he might want to take a shot at becoming prime minister while he still has the chance. It would be a gamble, but I don't know how much he has to lose.
  20. Do you think Dion wants an election?
  21. Betsy, Immunization is not mandatory in Canada. And as far as I understand it will never become mandatory in Canada thanks to...the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. By the way, are you just as concerned that kids are vaccinated against diphtheria, measles, mumps, poliomyelitis, rubella and tetanus?
  22. How abnormal are we talking about here? Breasts are not something that people see everyday. I don't know how common these abnormalities are, and maybe it's just me but I've never walked down the street and noticed any women who had abnormal breasts. I would think it would have to be pretty abnormal to be noticeable compared to an abnormality on someone's face.
  23. There is one thing that article left out: "Ontario workers are well-trained. That simple explanation was cited as a main reason why Toyota turned its back on hundreds of millions of dollars in subsidies offered from several American states in favour of building a second Ontario plant." "In addition to lower training costs, Canadian workers are also $4 to $5 cheaper to employ partly thanks to the taxpayer-funded health-care system in Canada, said federal Industry Minister David Emmerson."
