Layton found nude in massage parlour!
blueblood replied to Mr.Canada's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yet questions about whether a politician's comings and goings potentially contradict what he says aren't legitimate. According to kimmys research layton was fighting for women's issues yet puts himself in a situation where rumors get started and during the campaign makes a promise regarding organized crime? I think the electorate not only has the right, but the responsibility to at least ask questions. I mean we get to ask questions about stockwell day and whether his religious beliefs will influence his job or not, why not ask questions about layton putting himself in a situation? -

So is it alright for other right leaning posters to ask questions regarding why jack layton was there in the first place or what went on there? I mean he was there and there were bad rumors of that place, should there be questions asked? -

You are right except there's one thing missing. You and I don't know what goes on in stockwell's head and if he would enact those policies. You can't provide evidence that stockwell would let his beliefs influence his job performance anymore than mr canada can prove that layton was in the massage parlour getting sexual favours. What is interesting is that stockwell has done a good job in his portfolio's and from what I've heard he's a bit of a dork. -

Me I'd take the former. I don't think what a person believes in should exclude that person from public office (providing its not about causing harm to people) -

That's kimmy's point not mine. Read her posts. -

As kimmy was pointing out it doesn't look good for layton hanging out at the massage parlor while at the same time campaigning for womens issues. Did it affect his performance as an mp? No, I'd say he was a good mp and did a good job improving his profile. Stockwell day by and large was a competant mp and cabinet minister. Did his beliefs hinder his job, by his performance I'd say not. This brings me to my point. If your not wanting to give stockwell day the benefit of the doubt, why the double standard when its layton's turn in the hot seat. I think laytons policies are ridiculous, but he's done a good job as an mp, same as stockwell and his beliefs. If one were to take this to the extreme, what would be better for a leader, a person who believes the earth is 6000 years old or someone who hangs out at "massage parlours" and what goes on is up to the imagination? Yes I know and have made it clear there is no way to know if layton did anything wrong. However there is no way to know if stockwell day would let his belief of a 6000 year old earth influence policy. -

I'm not saying it was you personally who got on the "church bashing bandwagon". I don't know if you were around or watching the forum when that was going on. There are threads in the archives talking about that. (Please don't make a smartphone user dig thru that!). My point was directed at other left leaning people who thought it was ok to bash the cpc for hanging out at church and thus not being fit for office. I only responded to you about my cheap la-z-boy quip. -

Where have I said that layton was guilty in this thread? I'm pretty sure this will turn out to be a nothing case due to the lack of evidence. However if I'm a politician I wouldn't be hanging out at massage parlor's after 9 bells, that's how rumors get started. I'm not talking about the media either, I'm talking about left of centre posters on this forum in past elections laying the same innuendo about how harper and day and other small c conservatives are unfit for public office because they hang out at church on sunday mornings, the same way some of the right posters are on layton being unfit for public office because he likes to hang out at massage parlors. Welcome to victimland!! -

Mine is set up in my living room 7ft from the tv. Her name is la-z-boy. To expand on kimmy's point. Why is it that we give layton the automatic benefit of the doubt for going to massage parlor's (rightly so btw) but at the same time stockwell day and harper get raked through the coals because they frequent church? -
He's lucky he didn't get punched out. In a man/sask bar shenanigans like that result in fisticuffs.

That depends on what you watch. News channels are mainly libs and ndp ads. Watching hockey on tsn as of late it was tory ads. I don't know what kind of ads were playing on say big bang theory (sports fan here) The best way you can see how a campaign going is right here. These days around here, the libs have done a vanishing act.

Smallc is voting in protest. In our riding the tory candidate will win with over 50%, so I could care less how he votes, ill just cancel him out. I don't know how hed vote in a more competitive riding and its none of my business. Look over the posts, if there's someone to be mad at, get pissed off at mr. Canada because its fools like him make the tories look bad. I'd say he's the type of voter parties have to market to, a swing voter. Layton won the pr war, a lesson the tories will learn from.

What kind of results are going to come of this investigation? The furthest this is probably going to go is them saying an investigation took place and layton being cleared. Cripes goodale in 2006 was in a spot comparable to this and nothing happened. The only result of this investigation is a waste of money.

I was reading posts in the "archives" here from the 06 campaign and the tories pre election were polling in the low 40s up until the election. The tories like the ndp were enjoying a surge and the post traffic was a lot of excited centre right posters similar to ndp supporters today. Something tells me this surge will moderate on election day like the tories surge in 2006.

I would love to see him if it was harper in layton's shoes. The spin machine would be set to wring dry. Should have been here in late 05-06. There were a lot more intelligent centre right posters. -
Chavez tried that little trick and canada is benefitting from it. Why should we copy a loser like that? You'd be surprised how much oil there is in the rest of the world. The industry can shut down exploration and expansion until the govt gets its act together. Ask stelmach in alberta what happens when you hike taxes/royalties. Brad wall owes him a case of beer!
-
Lots are and could end up doing so. Also have fun paying more for those resources because of those company's obligations to share/bondholders. Ask quebec how their regulations and high taxes are helping with gas exploration. That sends a bad message to entrepreneurs and startups, if you grow we're going to punish you. Unless the ndp has statoil and chinese firms lined up to develop oil resources, its a policy to deter resource development.
-
Great let's kill start up resource companies, move head offices offshore, and drill for oil/mine resources elsewhere. Not only that a significant portion of our population who want a nicer retirement are invested in said companies, why screw with investor's returns?

Time for jack to stand up and tell the truth.
blueblood replied to PIK's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Actually it does. Even in a minority situation the platform suggests a general direction the govt wants to go. Layton wants to tax and spend, and will get some of that done which could hurt the economy. Bay street isn't in a tizzy for nothing. -
Your halfway there. Why doesn't it apply to the big guys as well? I take it you haven't been out to western canada. Over here it was "what recession?" Those big guys operating out here would like more incentive to operate. And even then when you get over the 500k mark there's a big spike in taxes, a lot of small guys are in that are as well.

Don't people get naked to get massages in the first place? His policies are enough to launch a campaign on. I could care less. Had harper ran better ads talking about canada's economic performance, hed be in a better spot. Lesson for next campaign, don't be complacent. -

Canada is not a socialist country like some want it to be. Alberta's wealth is attributed to its free trade and capitalist policies. We have good old venezuela to compare to as for not what to do. Education and health care aren't free, they are paid for by tax dollars which are a result of more people creating wealth in turn caused by govt policies which make it easier to do so (capitalism, low taxes, low royalties, free trade). As for investing. Chavez doesn't have enough money to get the oil out of the ground. The sh*thole his country is is evidence of that. Canada realized it needs capital to get oil out of the ground and as a result alberta is one of the richest places on the planet. -

Your wrong. Venezuela has enjoyed high oil prices and is still a sh*thole, alberta enjoys high oil prices and is the envy of the world. Brown outs and goon squads anyone?
