  1. One also has to remember that a music genre lasts for 5 years to a decade and people typically like the music they grew up with. I personally like grunge style music, and rock music like that, I also know they don't make it any more because it's passé. I'm sure hair metal fans were pretty upset when smells like teen spirit put the death blow to hair metal, just as I was upset when eminem helped bury rock music. There has been cheesy dance music for as long as I remember. I think kids ten years from now will ink music down the line gets watered down for the same reasons you listed. Cest la vie in the music biz.
  2. There's a difference b/w saying invading isn't a good idea vs. "go Russia" or NATO is evil.
  3. The Chinese only own a trillion of USA debt. Average Americans still own more. And no they don't want one of the most efficient militaries in history in close proximity, they wouldn't want to spent a trillion dollars funding a potential threat. I'm sure china wouldn't appreciate losing a trillion dollars if the USA decided to default.
  4. Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Kosovo, Grenada - crickets I find it amusing that people who live in Canada and enjoy our freedoms cheerlead those countries that surpress said freedoms. It was because of NATO and the west's activities that you have the opportunity to bash NATO without fear of retribution. And you prefer countries that do the opposite, really? Hypocrite much? We spanked the Russians in the cold war and will Can spanking them again.
  5. Just like Russia and china can't mess with NATO. How does china like the USA marine corps enjoying some shrimp on the barby in Australia?
  6. And Russia is too weak after they have witnessed NATO obliterate countries using their equipment and tactics. Russia couldn't step up if they wanted to.
  7. Since when has low taxes on rich people caused poverty? If anything low taxes on rich people reduces poverty and debt. Sure better than this big gov't nonsense that you champion that's been going on since the depression.
  8. Instead of buying bonds like they typically do, it can work in reverse, they can sell those bonds. Which results in money supply shrinking.
  9. Well lots of people around the world say being educated on things makes things better. According to schiff's video, those kids looked frustrated and confused partly because they don't understand how economics works. Had they and most other people understand how economics works, things would run a lot smoother.
  10. Given what's gone on with the super committee recently, the GOP needs a sweep in 2012 to get their agenda through. If they don't get the senate and or lose the house, it's more of the same.
  11. Ezra just ripped off Peter schiff. At least schiff did his interviews fairly and treated them with respect as to have a proper debate. Ezra saw Anderson Cooper and a litbulb went off.
  12. Let's look at occam.'s razor here. If interest free money were to help out govts like you said it would, why wouldn't politicians be implementing it to buy voters with all sorts of gov't spending and loose economic policy? The "1%" would be useless because they don't have the votes, heck the 1% would even benefit because of all this new liquidity. And besides it isn't free, Lincoln realized that the money would end up worthless and paid the piper and as a result the USA had the highest growth in it's history. There's no free lunch. Having interest free money means a return to the aristocracy and people running on the banks.
  13. You really see this concept in the ag industry. Some people for whatever reason believe their kids should take out a massive loan and buy them out. In Canada we have banking regulations which prevents kids from taking out the full market value of the operation so the parents sell out at a discount which saddles the kids with massive interest payments and there ends up not being enough money for daddy to retire, all because daddy is a greedy fool. Others decide to split the land up equally among the kids instead of fairly, which means the kids have to start at a weaker position. The smart ones set up a company so the farm stays in tact, the kids pay daddy a pension plan, and use the savings to expand from their current position instead of having to go backwards when daddy kicks the bucket or retires. Bad succession planning, It's one of the biggest problems in agriculture, a cause for most guys going broke, and a monument to stupidity.
  14. In between ww2 and the Reagan admin. There was so many loopholes in the tax code that the high tax rate was just window dressing. And what is wrong with the phenomenon I just described? If people started saving their money and had smarter succession plans, they could pass down what wealth they had, but most people chose to blow it on consumption.
  15. That inequality results from savings, said savings being passed down, and the heirs of said savings not squandering their money. In some cases from 200-300 years worth of savings. In other cases an entrepreneur comes up with an outstanding product that people want. The problem the 99% have is that they have to essentially start from scratch every generation because not enough wealth is saved to be expanded upon. In most cases they get to the point where they pay off student loans, get a house, car and that's about it, not mch wealth to pass down. It's why they have more difficulty amassing wealth.
  16. Yes, me explaining that our making money and having it in the bank, stocks, investments, spending helps everyone over and over and over again clearly prove I'm not in the 1%. If a broad statement of what I say is "proof" you win the prize.
  17. That depends on which artist, although you are right in that more and more are taking that route. It has to be because of modern demographics. Kenny chesney is a soft rock artist.
  18. According to gross yearly income, I am, and it's not that hard of a nut to crack. Whether you believe it or not is up to you. Why would you make a claim that I'm not in the 1% when you can't prove it.
  19. No you don't use water cannons and riot gear on people camping out. The police were there essentially to keep things civil. The water cannons would embolden the protesters and inspire more to come out. It's like wilfrid Laurier and his Aesop fable about the sun and tube wind having a contest to take a man's coat off. They woud be better off letting them camp out and using people like Peter schiff to make them look like the fools they are. A crash course in economics would be far better than water cannons. I don't want to go to 1968.
  20. If we were lazy, we would not be in the 1%. It's not all vacations and caviar...
  21. It sure didn't help them today, wpg put on a defense clinic.
  22. So let me get this straight, you want interest free banking? If that's the case, why in the blue hell would I risk my corporate account to be lent out with the risk of not being paid back, when I could get a track hoe and make an underground safe or snap up gold bullion? If the bank is not getting interest from the people they loan out to, how are they going to pay depositors and bondholders for the use of their money? Usury free banking would lead us to 1920s Germany and Zimbabwe pretty quick. The only way a person can get away with printing money is in wartime, and even then it's a liability that has to be paid back in one way or another,
  23. There isn't enough people in canada to justify tens of billions of dollars building pipelines to eastern Canada and refineries that would run at a loss. The network already exists and works well. Keystone xl is expanding on said network. There is a massive population in china and that's why we have pipe going that way. And if diluted tar doesn't keep on a ship there may be an opportunity for synthetic crude production. Not only that there isn't enough money available to build the kind of network you want. It would be like digging ditches and filling them up again.
  24. If it was more cost effective to send synthetic cruse down there, it would be done already. It must have penciled out to send the diluted tar down the pipe and do everything in one shot down there. What will be interesting is if they send that upgraded tar straight to china or will they have to make synthetic crude...
  25. The same reason car factories are near population centers and not near iron ore mines.
