Thank you for shooting Kimmy's post full of holes, not an easy thing to do.

So what would you do if you saw your coach molesting a child?
blueblood replied to Argus's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Those clowns from Dixie have to make the rest of us look like circus freaks. Tents don't stop noise. -
Laws, wars, protests and ANGRY OLD UNCLES

That's why we pick people to lead, not to hand us out referendums when they come up with ideas. -

Depends on how redneck you are. Things are done a wee bit different out here in the sticks. Let's use this as an experiment. If you were on a couples camping trip and the other couple decided to get busy and were loud about it, would you lay there or tell them to quit it. I have been the ass to put a stop to sexcapades, but nobody interrupts my beauty sleep! -
The op in this thread doesn't help things out much. What will be interesting is if some of the hawk posters started a thread on trashing other cultures and the responses of posters responding to it. I'd wager we'd have us a nice double standard over here. My question is why be the person who stirs up the hornets nest when you don't have to?

U.S. F-35 program could be on chopping block

Didn't the USA win pretty near every battle in Vietnam, tore the Vietcong to ribbons, and borderline anhhialate their army? I think the north had to spend some sweet time mustering their forces to take over the south when the states left. Cronkite was a fool. -
Dismantling of the Canadian Wheat Board.
blueblood replied to Bob's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Do you think us farmers only grow wheat and barley and rely 100 percent on the wheat board? -
Dismantling of the Canadian Wheat Board.

Oh please. That's just fear mongering. We have a free canola. Oats, lentils, mustard, etc. Market, yet there isn't a big panic about that. Please explain why that is. Oh and adm just announced a 200 million litre biodiesel plant in lloydminster. Those greedy corporate bastards! -

I don't want the fed gone. It has its benefits, however, I also see what happens what happens when you have a person who doesn't have the grapefruits to raise interest rates when they need to be raised. Its like having the right captain on a nuclear missile sub. -
Zing!!!

Dismantling of the Canadian Wheat Board.
blueblood replied to Bob's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
The only way the board won't survive in the new market is if farmers don't support it and management makes bad decisions. Out west, co-op stores and bulk fuel have a huge market share and they compete against the big boys. There was lots of producer run elevators/delivery points except during the 70s they got too large too fast and they had to abandon their business model. There is willpower out west to make these things work in a competitive market. I'm sure you are aware of the massive investments going onin western canadian ag. Given how things are going, to say that canadian ag is in serious trouble because the cwb is gone is a little over the top. What's really telling is how many people showed up for cwb rallies. More people show up for high school volleyball tournements than attend those rallies. Not looking good for the friends of the cwb. -

The increase in money supply came from 2 decades of low interest rates, and got put on steroids in 2001,2002 when the bubble got inflated. The fed is just banging it's head against the wall rates near zero right now. Everybody hedges when they're speculating, that's how they stay in business. Hedging is taking the quick way out and prevents one from making too much and losing too much money. If there were fewer regulations, there would be no fanny and Freddie backstopping all the mortgages, no FDIC to backstop deposits, and no artificially low interest rates. Had the gov't not meddled in the market like that, we'd be a lot better off. -

Nope, that would be an increase in the money supply, caused by stupid govt policy. Regulations favor the larger institutions because they can afford to pay for them. The security of a gov't bailout allowed them to be reckless in the first place. -
Majority backs public funding for CBC, poll finds
blueblood replied to Shwa's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Depends on what party the people pick. In western democracies, politicians are picked to lead, not set up referendums on everything. Deep sixing the CBC wouldn't hurt anything. -

How about drop the expensive regulations on those banks and let the fees drop on their own. The bondholders and depositors have to get paid. -

That's the beauty of democracy, we get to pick what party has the best plan concerning our tax dollars. If the CBC goes, it goes and to the benefit of taxpayers everywhere. -

They tried at the first month. Once again Peter schiff talking to OWS and a meeting of the minds... -
You forgot that the gov't keeps making more and more regulations, rules, and creating power based on election promises. You can have sound policy, but you need sound people to follow that policy. U fortunately there hasn't been very many smart people in gov't for quite some time, they all went to the private sector.

U.S. F-35 program could be on chopping block
blueblood replied to olp1fan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Except the future is uncertain and there could potentially not be the luxury of time to do all the beta tests. Heck it's been in planning forever. A major conflict could spring up in no time. Again, you don't know if you have to do other things besides going to the grocery store. Better to be prepared than caught with your pants down. In your analogy, you never know if you have to make a trip to the drag strip or race track. -
Except violence towards women, police officers, and firefighters. People are born equal, that's it, what they do with that opportunity is up to them. These kids pissed theirs away, who's fault is that. The final problem isn't the influence of money, it's the fact that there is such a large volume of power for sale in the first place, which goes to the sale to the highest bidder. If there wasn't so much power for sale, what would the "corporations" be buying?

And so do the oil companies, they don't want to take a bath like BP did last summer.

A lesson Alexander the great knew very well when he smashed his enemies, Heck the USA gov't learned that lesson after custer's last stand. Never again!!! -
Spending our children's money...
blueblood replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If it is rezoned it is not agricultural then is it. Unless you are in California and get 3 crops a year of high value food, the only way farmland can go for that much is if inflation takes off. -

Nope a judge just repealed that injunction. No camping in zucotti park. Apparently bloomberg didn't break the law. -
