  1. It doesn't pay in the meat industry to be cruel to animals either. The carcass is of lesser quality, and the people that are cruel tarnish the industry for everyone else. It's the going after the Calgary Stampede and going after people who make their careers in the meat industry feeding people that I don't approve of. It's not the tactics I'm concerned about, it's the fact that in spite of these tactics more and more people are persuaded into believing the PETA propaganda and that makes the meat industry a bigger gong show than it already is. We do experiments on people as well, granted they give consent. However, some experiments conducted on primates are of benefit to us as far as the medical field goes. Unfortunately a human life is worth more than a monkey's life. It's the lesser of two evils.
  2. No your just opposed to the fact that people can pay to jump the line and Canada cashing in on it. People are born equal, however as time goes on some become better than others.
  3. Why wouldn't we on this issue Right - PETA threatens to take a bite out of the economy Left - PETA threatens to put more people in the poorhouse and take their jobs away. But then again PETA has zero credibility, I wonder how much a gazelle suffers when a cheetah eats it alive...
  4. In comparison to Ireland and Alberta, yes. I didn't say it was the cause, that was due to inept management. Socialism just made it a hell of a lot worse. Why can't socialism work? Has it been capitalist on the scale as other western democracies? As capitalist as Ireland. Sorry, fail. What's funny is that the oil companies gave venezuela a better deal than Alberta. Chavez is responsible for Venezuela's economic failures right now. If Ireland can fix their mess without oil, surely to God Venezuela can fix theirs. But we have a socialist nutbar for a leader, hows that working out? Look at countries with hardline socialism, and those without, tell me which country is better to live in. Ireland has a decade long business friendly policy, the US has one a century old. Seems like a pretty successful policy to me. How's that anti-business policy going in all the gong show countries out there?
  5. And just imagine what it would be if we opened up the door to private care. Still not good enough. We lose out on economic gain so you flag wavers can have a pissing match with the US. If its so good, why did the supreme court tell you guys to go fly a kite?
  6. The only thing more disgusting is people take these nutbars seriously and that isn't good for anybody. If we took the advice of PETA, we as a country would be poorer.
  7. And if there was a private component those numbers would be higher, and BC2004's sources would say less medical professionals are fleeing the country. That's just not good enough.
  8. By your standards hiring one nurse is a major improvement. I'll take that comment with a grain of salt.
  9. Oh no I understand, you just don't understand that at tax time rich people take a bath, and the homeless person gets paid. But when it comes to healthcare, everyone's in the same boat. That's a double standard. If there was a two tier system in Canada, wouldn't more doctors have work? Wouldn't more Canadians get faster and better care? Wouldn't the poor people still get their care? It's a better idea than the gong show we have now. Just ask some taxi drivers with their medical papers! More money I meant to say "fine" as in its not in danger as some fear mongerers would like us to believe if we had a two tier system in Canada. Not my problem if you don't want things to constantly improve and improve on a large scale. That's a poor attitude to have, and it's unfortunate so many Canadians have it. That would be an arrogant comment, not an ignorant one.
  10. Ha! Reality says otherwise. That isn't the case at tax time, or when we have poor people electing MPs with a platform to raid the rich person's bank account. You keep telling yourself that bed time story. As a taxpayer I have a right to say something sucks just as much as the next guy. Lots of people don't agree with what you say, I don't think you should have to move. Free speech is a two way street, deal with it. A two tier option would improve funding to the public system with the tax dollars it pays. The US competes with our system right now, why can't Canadians set one up? Our system is doing just fine with the Americans next door. That argument is bogus. Good for them, I could care less of what city people think of me.
  11. Everybody has access to a soup kitchen, just like our healthcare. Why should a millionaire eat in a soup kitchen? Is this more do as I say, not as I do? I have every right as a taxpayer to be critical of a health system that is soviet, I'm not getting my money's worth. Better tell the supreme court to move to the US, because they think that monopoly BS that the health care system that you brag about infringes on people's rights. We could have a two tier option in Canada with everybody winning, but people like you scream bloody murder because there are private companies involved. I like America, why not, they're the best possible neighbours a country like ours could have. They are far better to deal with than any country in the world. What I want is something better, it's what most rational people want. Unfortunately you don't want something that is better and think that we should be happy with what we have even though there are superior options. If that's the attitude of Canadians, I'm embarassed to call myself one. CBC covers the NFL playoffs on its website, and CTV pays big dollars to broadcast games. I wonder how much TSN dishes out to cover CFL games. Why won't CTV show CFL games on the main network? Why do they leave it to TSN to cover it?
  12. That metaphor works fine, I don't know any mid priced restaurants that give their meals away. The soup kitchen is the only one I know that does that. I'll ask you again, what business does a millionaire have of eating in a soup kitchen and taking a meal away from a guy who desperately needs it? Canadians are missing out on getting better health care because a vast majority of people have smallc patriot syndrome and can't see the forest through the trees. Having this debate is like comparing CFL to NFL football. Oh we get to have professional football in Canada, but there is a far better product in the states for those who can afford it.
  13. what the hell kind of a bullshit survey/thread is this? That would not only be a no, but a hell no. There are people that have honor. Eric Tillman does not.
  14. We lose Geoffery, we lose jdobbin, now we lose mdancer, and this is what we get for replacements. And I have to debate with this... Sad.
  15. And if Canadians had this option, that would be money kicking around in the Canadian economy and more tax dollars funding health care. For some people, if they want something better they will pay for it. Ensuring timmy the homeless man getting his care is bottom on the priority list for someone with the dollars to pay to get cancer cured in the express lane in the US. People go down to the US because they do not want to be punished for making the dollars. Being forced to stay in line encourages that. I would think that pro-free healthcare advocates would be all about people with the means paying to jump the line, it frees up space for the poor people. To use a metaphor, what business does a millionaire have in eating in a soup kitchen?
  16. Considering that you are the type of person who thinks that people should be happy with what they have because its Canadian even though there are far superior options, your credibility suffers. I wonder what the wait times are for the mayo clinic... Manitoba probably has falling wait times, but they are so insignificant that it won't matter to the person waiting in line for their surgery.
  17. The supreme court has ruled that the current system of healthcare is inadequate and infringes on people's rights. There has to be some for profit care, 1) it is an avenue to start business and 2) in conjunction with the public system wait times would come crashing down
  18. But you guys on the left think that these types of people can be rehabilitated. Seems like a double standard...
  19. Yet I do not own a party membership card. It's not that I love the tories, it's that I despise the Liberals and NDP and their garbage policies. That would be like me calling you a Liberal astroturfer. So you get to repeat "garbage" coming out of the Liberal war room, and berate people who don't like the left wing parties, sounds like a do as I say not as I do. Politics is a two way street, somebody has to show the other side.
  20. How many pounds of tinfoil do you go through in a year? This is a new low as far as debate has gone in this forum which is a sad thing. Did the powers that be make that title for you?
  21. And ultimately its up to the people come election time. If this is a big issue, then have the opposition punt the gov't and let the people decide what they want. There will be plenty of time to punt come march. Harper has to wear this prorogation come next election, he's as accountable as he's ever been. PMPM had to wear the sponsorship scandal. When march comes around and they're back sitting this story will have run out of legs.
  22. I think its just bad marketing about the prorogation blowing up in Harper's face. To me it makes sense with the olympics so close and the fact that winter break was originally supposed to still be on. If Harper wants to somewhat fix this in the future, cut short the summer break to make up for lost time. As for polls they bounce around a lot, anyone remember the numbers the last time parliament was prorogued because of the coalition? I'd say a lot of people were supportive of the tories at that point in time. These moves are all marketing, you win some you lose some. I don't see the big deal, parliament will resume in March, and there will still be democratic elections at least every 5 years. For those saying democracy is gone in Canada because of this is flat out ignorant.
  23. So when you go to a store and get sub par service are you going to shut up about it? These sort of things are a two way street, Lesnar has as much right to squawk about something he has a problem with as much as anyone else. If that's the case then the American left should shut up about what they think is substandard health care. They're feeling they're getting short changed, just like Lesnar was in Canada. Is this another one of those do as I say not as I do moments?
  24. Not good enough for Lesnar. He went and got the best care his money could buy. If Brock Lesnar wants the best healthcare, then Brock Lesnar will get himself the best healthcare. One thing is for sure, is that Lesnar didn't wait in the US. You do have to realize that some Canadians don't care about half assed healthcare, no matter how much flag wavers brag about it. They care about getting themselves fixed ASAP, as refered to by BC2004.
  25. I agree, Bono gets to express his belief that everyone should give food to Africa and put their ag producers out of business; why can't Lesnar bitch about getting shafted at the hospital up in Canada and getting the care he needed down in the US. Oh and that will be credit card, those points are handy.
