"Don't ask, don't tell"
blueblood replied to Gabriel's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
So your one of those who think Canada was a land of barbarians before the magical trudeau came in with his constitution? Seems like Trudeau didn't consider any of the "consequences" of his "changes". Why does Trudeau get a free pass on monumental changes, but the Tories don't? You sir are a product of Trudeaumania. Canada was Canada before the constitution, Canada will be Canada when the constitution eventually changes with the times. -

If we didn't have ideas about improving things, why are we all on here expressing our ideas in the first place? Everybody has answers, its whether or not people buy into them. If everybody bought into your ideology that if we didn't change and didn't have ideas to make things better, society as a whole would be poorer and missing out. -

So it's ok to update the US constitution, but not the Charter? Seems like a double standard to me. Note: I don't know your absolute position on updating the charter, that's just in reference to lefties that treat the charter as a sacred cow. -
The problem is that being overweight is related to obesity. You can't use overweight because of the "reputation" it uses. Had you said simply have more muscle mass, then you wouldn't have this issue. That's why I don't like the BMI because it puts football players in the same league as morbidly obese people.

UFC's Lesnar berates Canadian health care...
blueblood replied to Shwa's topic in Canada / United States Relations
Danny Williams sure as heck didn't! He's getting the best heart surgery his money can buy! Can you say express lane? -
And numerous more studies show that being overweight with a high body fat % is extremely unhealthy and a drain on the health system.

You are the one crying about how only poverty makes people more succeptible to disease, I proved that little theory wrong, genetics has a hand in it. Only wait times do. Welcome to the world of Trade offs. Hell the Premier of Newfoundland couldn't get heart surgery in the USA fast enough! -
I like my chances now vs. when Saddam was in charge. here's one for you Go to Iraq and trash the gov't now vs. ten years ago. Iraqi's are able to protest now, under Saddam they'd be gassed. Bloodyminded wrote: Thank you for accepting that violence has gone down. Iraq was also a very violent place if you vocally spoke out about Saddam's gov't. That's a better trial than the kurds and his political opponents got... Last I checked the war was legal... The fact that CNN roams around Iraq doing objective reporting is a large step up from Saddam, everyone knows that Haiti was a shit show, however that shit show that was Haiti was a freer country than Iraq under Saddam. Seems to me Iraq is taking its baby steps into a functioning democracy nicely. But since you figure since the Americans were involved its doomed to failure. How's South Korea doing these days? The people in Dubai have it far better than people in Iraq living under Saddam. To suggest that living under a murderous dictator is better than living in other developing countries is flat out ignorant.

Have you not heard about sickle cell anemia? My link Apparently its a pain in the ass if your black with ancestors from sub saharan africa. Interesting to note it was a mutation to help curb malaria. I don't think poverty is going to affect that little issue. -

My link Lard thunderin cheesus, looks like ol' danny boy is off to see those yankees for some heart surgery! Sounds like someone was listening to Lesnar! -
Stats also show that obesity is a world wide problem, just take a look at the WHO website. Junk food has been around for a long time, why is it an epidemic now? ----> laziness.

You sound like a dellusional saskatchewan roughriders fan trying to convince me that I should drop watching my hero Brett Favre because the CFL is "better". Canadian patriotism is a joke, it's just trying to act like American patriots but worshiping the maple leaf instead of the stars and stripes. It's not even original. What's even sadder is the media blitz by molson canadian and the cbc trying to ram american style patriotism down our throats. Hearing "it's our game" all day during hockey day in Canada is enough to make me vomit, no wonder the NHL has problems expanding. No offense to BC2004, but I can't stand some American tourists and their flag waving nonsense. What's worse is we have Canadians trying to copy that. I think it's arrogant, proposterous, and an embarassment. I will give the Americans this, they don't need a media campaign to develop an identity, they did that on their own, Canada decided to ram an identity down our throats and that's sad. What's sadder is the CBC/molson deciding a collective identity for Canadians instead of Canadians deciding for themselves.

The BMI is a useless way of determining obesity. If that were the case, then football players would be all morbidly obese, which they aren't. If your going to suggest that an overweight and sedentary lifestyle is the way to go, I'm going to have a laugh. There is no excuse to live that garbage lifestyle, it is a drain on health services, and plugs up hospitals with people having an entirely preventable problem. One day obesity will be the new smoking and that day can't come soon enough.

What are you talking about. There is a shortage of MD's because they flock to get on the US gravy train. Having a private option here will ensure more med school grads will stay in Canada. The rest of that doesn't make any sense, what's mat leave 1-2 years? Even then we have a lot of immigrants from other parts of the world who want to practice medicine but we have a greedy CMA union that wants to keep them out and make sure their salary is inflated at the expense of the health and well being of Canadians. It's called learning on the job. canadians suffer because we put non tariff barriers on immigrants wanting to practice medicine that can't afford to write the test to get themselves certified. -
Numbers don't lie. Violence has gone down substansially in Iraq. I'm not hearing very much about American soldiers dying over there these days. Strike 1 Saddam and his henchmen have gotten a fair trial under the new Iraq gov't. Something common Iraqi's never got under the Saddam regime. Strike 2 Every now and again CNN shows the little bright spots of improvement to the daily lives of common Iraqi's and how they are enjoying this freedom. None of that happened under the Saddam regime. Strike 3 For a region coming out of a civil war, Iraq is making progress and is better off than it was under the Saddam regime. It will take some time for Iraq to hopefully become wealthy and successful like Kuwait and Dubai, right now they are on the path to achieve that.

Mis management failed venezuela, not capitalism. Your going to have to show me some sources that state capitalism has failed venezuela, because all those oil deals have been pretty generous to venezuela throughout history. Not capitalism's fault they suck at management.

Global Food Crisis, overpopulation and Cannibalism

Necessity is subjective. Haiti was a gong show before the earthquake and people weren't helping much, now with this earthquake people are not only helping with tax dollars, they are making donations. $10 dollar increase on your phone bill to red cross anyone? Where were those telethons prior to the earthquake? -
Are you ignorant or are you just an airhead. You provide me a source which states who killed more people Bush/Blair or Hussein? You provide me a source that states that the Iraqi's had more freedom under Hussein than Bush/Blair You provide me a source that states that living under Hussein is better than what they have now and will have in the future

It only worked the last time because it was the perfect storm of events he could use to justify it to the voters. Recent election being overturned, A coalition that nobody voted for. Sure, what the coalition did was completely legal and went through the proper channels, at the end of the day everyone is accountable to the voters. Harper did what he did the last time and it worked like a charm. In essence, the last time Harper trumped the coalitions attempt at power through the back door with one of his own. This time however is different. No recent election, and no coalition that nobody voted for. The voters are feeling cheated, and Harper could quite well be hurt by it. Harper would have been better off dealing with Parliament even if it was for only sitting for two or three weeks. I think this prorogation actually makes sense as it would be a waste to sit for two -three weeks and then have the olympics going on. However, I am one voter, and many more voters than me.

One thing I do miss was CA's participation in debates. You did get solid responses from him if you ever engaged him. However due to his position, I can see why he doesn't want to participate (or can't). Needing more posters like that...

I use Ireland and venezuela because recently they both were basket cases, now only one of them is. A capitalist country is the biggest economy of them all... It doesn't take much to improve. Haiti will be "better off" when the clean up is done. Yet Venezuela is still a basket case. Chavez is spouting that socialism is the be all and end all, and that capitalism is an evil failure. If he's going to make ridiculous claims like that, he has to back them up. Unfortunately his country is still a poor gong show that floats on oil, yet a country that was a basket case that embraced capitalism is extremely wealthy and one of the freest countries in the world. No, that would be if someone came up to me and said socialism is superior to capitalism and capitalism is a failure. Then they get to deal with my big mouth. But Chavez is making it the argument by being the jack ass that he is. So in other words you agree with me on that point.

But we get Mr. Canada on the right as a consolation prize... Nutbars come in all shapes and sizes. -
They're already after the Calgary Stampede and are after feedlots, dairies, hogbarns, and poultry operations. The reason you don't see them in farmers and ranchers faces is the foot to ass factor.

The Americans are already "stealing" medical professionals. With two tier in Canada, they wouldn't be stealing as much. Tell that to the medical professionals driving taxi cabs.
