  3. US demands is called intrusion of people's lives I mean what grade you could give to a system that investigates every person for wrong doing? Plus imagine we are only looking for marginal security improvement right? Look, I am already delayed at the airport because of the under wire that supports my demi bra plus I have enough troubles as it is with my high heels that conceal steel I vote similar to putting a military personnel on every plane, that we put an attorney on every flight to respect people's liberties for due process
  4. because I can, and plus I can spend my well wasted time usefully reading your posts
  5. Why? Are you getting tired of being in the kitchen by yourself? As I understand it, females should only show to assist
  6. Maybe I can ask Greg to include a section called the "Feminization of Politics" mainstream politics is all about men and their decisions and women exist somewhere between non-existence and inadequate

  9. Well I watched the Indianapolis 500 and rooted for Danica and who wouldn't when a woman clocks 229.880 mph in competition with men Hello she was set to be the winner She'll be back Oh btw I don't know where to post my women's stuff
  10. I think that the young people voice are stifle based on the fact that adults make decisions and choices for them. Laws then reinforced these adult decisions. Conclusion: Adults discrimination against the youths. Let me rephrase more gently, laws force adult decisions on the youths. I mean youths cannot carry their drinks, buy cigars, enter some establishments, watch X-rated film, etc. Look at a message you are sending even our Charter of Rights and Freedoms would shiver, least I mentioned disadvantaged individuals or groups including those that are disadvantaged by age. It is difficult for the kids to understand adult obsession with age-based rules, laws, when you also choose to neglect your own control of the rules and then you try to punish them as adults. Besides being responsible parents and more involved in children lives I hope our school system can incorporate and deliver the Canadian justice system to the very young so that we share knowledge of what happens if a wrong is done. MEN, I want to say to you that 97% of you who started law school finished your program. This is comparable to other programs such as business at 65%, engineering 65% etc. Arts 30% So you see a connection and the disconnect. The assessement is that parents are pawns to instill rules in the young who never gets it anyway. Now those who practice law understand it to be a phenomenon to be hidden from view and only explained and punishable by the expert. Not to mix up the expert - because they are certainly not the parents. I would try teaching law to kids very early
  11. Are we compromising our liberties, I mean there are personal information readily available on those tickets, plus those itinerary.. means no fooling around anymore? and who really is looking at this data - a contractor. What is going to happen to Canadian domestic flights that only travel short distances in US space, and how about those folks who are not allow to travel in the US but can travel domestically in Canada Ok so there is some kind of "no fly list" that all names are checked against - I mean how many names are on this list plus I understand the information gathered can also be used to catch other kinds criminals. Makes you wonder what else the list will be expanded to accommodate. There are millions of flyers every month - are we just detracting from security Plus can someone let me know how far up in space a country owns Plus do property owners have any space allocation
  12. Economic Left/Right: 3.13 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 2.56 somewhere between Martin, Blair and Chirac
  13. are you kidding me, no person should suffer the indignity of maintenance of affection even the romp sorts when the exploit is over Peter most males suffer 8 heartaches in a lifetime
  14. mmm I have always wondered about this "sleeping your way to the top" meaning. I think ladies are always complex Peter - and bolting from the male lives just like that is a way to be successful only the women never recognise it should be sooner
  15. well I don't know how you can forsake mapleleafweb isn't a way to be successful is to utilize all the resources available
  16. Black Dog May 9 2005, 03:11 AM Post #5 No problem, I do want you to make sense of what the issues are so here is the direction of that initial post. Women have been drawing sympathies with whatever tactics they are using. First they win your hearts on their social issues and point the finger and blame men for their discrepancies e.g. women are concentrated in social jobs and junior opportunities, plus they weren't even legally a person until 1929, did not vote until later, did not occupy political seats until later, and still there are discrepancies and so on - they blame men. Here is the other side of that argument, our society have produced men and willed them to go to work and fend for themselves. In fact, our families are more likely to release men from their homes and tell them to become independent whilst the females are kept at home even in the worst of circumstances. In my view men are systematically denied family aid available to a comparable female. Plus, if a man is deem poor he is denied and deprive some role in his child's life. In fact the welfare system might back me up here - if a man appears into a family who is collecting welfare, they might become disqualify because of the entry of a man. Plus if a man appears to be living in a home with a family (female and child) the tax system makes them a family. Anyway the point is that a man has to take care of himself and carries a burden to take care of others. The irony of being "less of man" asserts itself as being unworthy of help. Look men are supposed to be well duh "men". Less of a man now means that men forgo the right for help. Women ask for help all the time - and no one questions it plus they are not "less of a woman" but more power to a woman for seeking help. I wanted to make this point that we are more permissible to allow a man to take care of a woman and become financially dependent on the man. However, how to say this... it is forbidden for men to have a dependence on women - perhaps that less of a man takes it toll.
  17. Responding to a challenge to invest differently, I recall doing a research back in 97 when the company I worked for was going to diversify its business into the aquaculture industry. We were interested in forecasting mostly salmon but did other fishes And I remember some discussions with the agriculture ministry at that time with a fellow from the Agriculture Ministry that we estimated some serious shortages. We ended up hauling fish from South America - Peru, and Chile, it was more lucrative than catching fishes in the Canadian waters to supply a 3 year demand
  18. I think that females are making the lives of men worst with all the new options these females are creating. Firstly, women are showing some provoking outrage at men for their own socialisation. Perhaps the harm done is that women not only create false images of men but continue to exacerbate this falseness with their demands. This in turn afflicts men so much that it creates the guilty trip in men. Look, nowadays men come home from war literally crying, a terrible thing this war is - an oppresion for men - men will die in a war, but also there are no new options available to males comparable to the female options. One only have to look at the trend and recognise there is a need to examine and renovate our attitudes towards men. Look, presently girls are encouraged into post secondary education while boys are left to fend for themselves - the homeless stats shows 78% are males that appear on the streets In the areas of divorce, child custody, domestic prosecution and social issues such as homelessness, and over-representation of men in prison, welfare etc. the truth is men have not drawn much sympathy in any of these areas, even though we see blatant prejudices. I think our society have indeed betrayed men, have systematically discriminate against men in comparable female services such as victims shelters etc and hence do not provide for nor recognised the male needs
  19. Thats the function of the PM I think - off topic discussions
  20. Kimmy Would you agreed then that women do not belong in mainstream thoughts? In the lawyers’s circle when a woman decides to take off to have a baby – they are heading on the mommy track. Earlier somewhere I did write how some women have to live as men in order to succeed in a man’s world. Here is a stats that shows a linkage to children in female dominated professions such as education and nursing compared to women with children in male dominated professions. It shows women in male dominated professions are less likely to have children than the women in traditional female professions. Education No kids 39% Kids 61% Nursing No Kids 38% Kids 62% Business No Kids 52% Kids 47% Engineering No Kids 48% Kids 52% What I mean is the point about wanting equality is not about women living as men but forcing changes so that men and women could participate equally in work and family lives. I mean I understood why my marriage failed – (gasp) I thought that the female was supposed to assist with the dishes . I think you misunderstood my point about doctors and nurses. Agreed, there is a hierarchical relationship as in every business. My point was that these males doctors tend to think in terms of power structure, dominance and their identify social norm are part of their “norm”. Groups such as women, or blacks are marginalise and get interwoven into desperate situation and experience powerlessness hence the nurses submissive state. Look, different groups of people are socialised differently even when they are heading to become a doctor. A woman doctor experience is different from a male doctor experience. For women medicine does not become a part of her but the other way around. Women in medicine are more or less “men” during their medical training. Women experience powerlessness in male professions. As if I didn't mentioned this, males operate from a powerful standpoint. They have social status, economic and advantageous position over women, the nurses are demur and are fearful. Plus there is a disproportional representation of doctors from prestige positions who can have their say. I guess because I am looking for economic wealth for the females and the way to acheive wealth is though hard work. Trading with the US is a big part of Canada is a probable explanation. We don't have enough data about blacks or other groups in Canada and as usual the US stats becomes handy plus I was partially educated in the US. Your point is taken though, a fair criticism. In my linear thinking its either "white" or "black".
  21. Well no one is worried about men being under-represented as nurses because they are over-represented as doctors and did I mention a salary difference so I am sure no prejudices exist as we look forward for conservatism to prevail. I have an ancient scorn when I hear stories of women who are unable to share similar experiences of becoming doctors as their male collegues. These experiences differ in the medical profession, law, politics, engineer, astronomy. The truth about women socialization into the professions is one sex emerge into an expected hierarchy. Nothing has change from the do's and don'ts of long ago Don'ts for nurses 1) Never speak to the doctor unless it’s about the patient Do's for nurses 1) Do work quickly and quietly 2) If the doctor speaks to you, stand still You do see a hierarchy that stifles questioning or dissent through fear - the need to show deference to superiors, to pretend confidence, to sacrifice family in order to succeed in medicine. Generations later doctors "males" do not need to change. It is women who have to sacrifice to fit into this man's world. Put a black woman seeking to become a doctor is unlikely and hardly represented to bring about a change. For teaching women caregiving roles are extended into the classroom. When the government decides to cut afterschool/lunch programs teachers shoulders the additional responsiblity of taking care of children. Guess what, they are compete at home with these activities, so no problem, an extension of their natural abilities. Let me theorize here why would a man want to be in a teaching profession besides low wages and being overworked.
  22. The Terrible Sweal Blackdog is correct about the multiple oppressions. The intersection is race, gender and class etc If you intersect them you can pick out limitations, differences and watch how dynamics of change disappear
  23. Argus I think it is described as "new" racism. I mean are you saying that: - it is easy to understand black people feelings - discrimination against blacks are no longer a problem - over the years blacks have gotten more than they deserved - blacks are getting too demanding in this equality rights Arthur P Brief - Freeman School of Business wrote in the Academy of Management executive about new racism and conducted 3 studies. You know how long it takes for a black male to peak in middle management 2 years longer than his white counterpart. For a color woman this is the intersection she faces, first she is of color and does not interface with the say a the white male mentor at home, she is female, and she belongs to some race that gets lost and defined by black males. I mean we hear all the time when something goes wrong for the colored folks they seem to blame it on race and racism - that Apprentice show with the over hyper-visual Omarosa always resorted to blame race - but she was also a well educated black woman. Collude was used appropriately. But I can rephrase to make it more appealing if you wish. White women collude with white men in their bedrooms - here we have a dynamic dependency and then we have white women collude with white men in their offices for a dynamic counter-dependency.
  24. kimmy Posted Today, 04:54 AM You are correct Kimmy because I have indeed seen less cases of discrimination against women since about a century ago. Maybe women issues are existing nowadays only in isolated instances which indeed explains how people get blinded when hiring and promoting women or the matter colored women. This would also explain why when there is a population of 55:45 women to men ratio only 11% women are existing in executive roles, and only 20% of women exist in your cabinet. Maybe it explains why there was only a handful of women presidents worldwide so far. Perhaps it also explains why women are overly concentrated in care giving jobs such as teaching, nursing, homecare and still find it difficult to break into and network with the traditional male dominated professions. Maybe a reason why women lawyers quit their high profile jobs after 2 years has already been address. I wanted to offer some stats of women in male dominated field and how what they give up in order to compete in a man's world Baby gap (ages 35-39) no children under 12 at home Women lawyers 42.3% Women Physicians 32.9% Academic women 49.6% All PhD's women 45.6% Since we are at the education stats I might as well give you the graduating education stats for women of color 17% well those are only some issues to draw to your attention, try putting some color on those issues as there is hardly statistics around for black folks. Ontario Human Rights complaints - over 80% is filled with discrimination and race So I am glad that you believe that the above issues have been addressed and sorted out Maybe in a synopsis here is what you meant - that there is great evidence, which are highly visible everyday, that efforts are being made to achieve some sort of equality. Hence the the intentions of most leaders are very good - but you did not see beyond this construction
  25. The problem I have with gauging all women experiences by the "white" women is that a reality for black or colored women is not represented. Could I make a claim that white women are very privileged and have benefitted from their whiteness in a racist system. Here is what I mean 1) In their private sphere white women collude .. seductively with their "white" male partners as lovers, husbands and have the guidance of fathers and male mentors 2) In their public sphere they intend to compete with the "male oppressors" for some wealth. I mean white women can feel free to attack "their" men If you look back in history black women have always worked as domestic servants, slaves etc. and yet how far have they got even when the white women stayed at home and exploited them I mean how did all women experiences of work got to be standardised by the "white" women experiences. Is this the reason why women of color identify "race" as starting point of being oppressed?
