F-35 purchase undecided, Fantino says
MACKER replied to mentalfloss's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
God is god, I don't need paper to tell me what god is, god can do that. Also if you didn't realize religion has been revised over time. Religion is a practice of periodic cultural practices that are adopted at any given time. Religious practice is as fluid as time. None the less knowing the true faith and the fundamentals of religion are a rock to stand on. It removes the failings of a distrurbed and corrupted humanity and yields sustenance and courage and acceptance. Having a true sense of faith does not require trees. The bible is more like a brochure among many. -
This is good, it makes me wonder if it is just a better move to knock the nickle too and make a NEOLOONIE 10x the value of the old one and forget the nightmare of subparity forever. We could also opt to start using terms like pence.

And why must science trump religion? Fact is Canada cannot defend against an attack by a major country. That is all there is too it. Canada is Israel without nuclear weapons, and Arabs with Nuclear weapons. Why even spend money on offensive weapons if it cannot defend itself. It is an absurd defence strategy. Canada needs air defence systems not fighter bombers. It is truely sad to see people put science before faith. science has no purpose without a faith to apply that knolwedge to. Humans without faith are clueless as to purpose in life. Life is not a task of survival of the fitest, it is a task of benefiting existence with goodness. putting money into defence spending is like paying for people to steal your property and not having insurance. Defence policy for Canada ought to be simple. 1. Made in Canada. 2. Backed by global proliferation. 3. Nuetrility 4. Public financed, public supported militia 5. merchantile measures - merchant marine, resource gathering military - employed military in things like building public housing, infrastructure, and maning remote resource posts. Canada ought to also move on some key issues: 1. treaty with the US creating a moritorium on activities the disputed portion of the beaufort (Canada should boycott all trade to the US if the US does not agree to this) 2. a deal with Denmark over Hans island creating a joint corporation for any use of the island which would see any profits from the island jointly shared. 3. total withdrawl of all Canadian military personnel not assigned as diplomatic attaches at all foreign sights if they are areas with states of war. 4. a warworks plan needs to be employed in the artic to reduce the 40% unemployment rate of natives in Northern Canada. -
IMO it is a conflict of interest for MP's to be voting on their own pensions. They should have nothing to do with it. This is why MP's should not control their salary it should be the senate or the Queen by letters patent to determine the salary of the house (as put into the public rolls)... the senate is by measure disqualified. Therefore it should not be paid. MP's should not get salaries. They should seek contributions from their ridings. Then in anyway economically renumerate themselves is embezzlement of public funds. They should only be paid for reasonable costs. The rolls should set the wages and benefits not the MP's themselves. It is a clear conflict of interest for them to engage in that sort of activity. It is illegal for them to have personal gain from the laws they pass. example http://ciec-ccie.gc.ca/Default.aspx?pid=94〈=en The house is responsible to raise ITS OWN FUNDS, not embezzle from the public purse. judging on the 2 million dollars the house raises it should have a sallary of perhaps 5000 per member to renumerate expenses.

When will people realize the French culture and religion must be preserved because without it the French king will resume control of Quebec due to breach of treaty. It is only graciousness among the civiized Christian kingdoms that we respect the agreement that brings New France under English title.

I'm convinced Canada should produce its own program for defence. And by the time that is done, the F35 will have proven itself or shown to be second rate .. the purchase should be put off until 2020 when the first tier customers have most of their aircraft and have tested them. There is no need to rush a purchase of f35's because it is already backlogged. The program is behind schedule 2-3 years already, they really should do a domestic program for "sufficient aircraft" for interception role. F35's wont be available until 2020 regardless so why not wait until 2018 or so to start seeing how it compares to Russian and Chinese models that they put into production. -
that was for premier. Its like the presidential election, not the congress.

Most of it is health spending. The only way to remove the deficit is to cut the health budget by an equal amount, it is a quick fix. People lived before all these health care services existed. My gosh people die. Hospitals cost too much. A whole lot of health programs need to be scaled back, services privatized for fees, and a self funding health insurance plan introduced. No other solution can solve the problem. The debt alone is 10 billion of the 18 billion deficit.

It is times like this I am reminded how stupid nationalism is. Advice is advice is advice. It is either good or bad, who the hell cares where it comes from. It should not be where someone is born or where they choose to pay taxes to and what priveleges they opt for but rather the quality of their information so as to proove iself to be useful in bettering ones people, and humankind in general. It is for want of a giant hammer that one may smack against others heads to remind them that we are all flesh and blood, and that we share the same ground both born from it and return to the womb everlasting. Nationality should only be about economics, not information. If we first provide for poverty the borders can be removed and we call live in unity. Nationality should only be seen as a point of organization. It is all make believe. Culture ought be preserved for benefit of perspective and containing those things which make survival better adapted for humankind. But anyone who can give good advice has already been washed pure of the corruptions of humanity.

Air Canada fixing planes in US rather than Canada now
MACKER replied to MACKER's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
IS REQUIRED NOT WAS REQUIRED. You had a little slip there saying it was required to have the facilities in Canada, at no point did the act change to remove that requirement. -
Air Canada fixing planes in US rather than Canada now
MACKER replied to MACKER's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Yes the difference being that the CF are not legally required to do its maintainence in Canada, Air Canada is. Article 6d 6. (1) The articles of continuance of the Corporation shall contain [...] (d) provisions requiring the Corporation to maintain operational and overhaul centres in the City of Winnipeg, the Montreal Urban Community and the City of Mississauga; This is like the US trading with Cuba 40 years ago. Both Charest (a federal cabinet minister when the act went through -now premier of quebec and the three major city mayors all agree that Air Canada is breaking the law) http://www.allvoices.com/contributed-news/11783920-canada-three-city-mayors-want-government-to-intervene-in-air-canada-aveos-dispute The result of this happening is that Air Canada must be nationalized -

Air Canada fixing planes in US rather than Canada now
MACKER replied to MACKER's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If Canada is running Air Canada on public charity then why not the company that fixes the planes too.. or can't they run a working plane repair company? How the hell can they be expected to run the government. They have to service military planes don't they, why not service them too? Afterall it is an essential service, isn't it? Going to let the Americans service our "essential national services" what the heck is this, it is offensive. The government should buy it and run it as a crown corp. Its all handouts to keep air canada running anyway. -
Walkom: "These high-income docs want the rich to pay"
MACKER replied to jacee's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Higher taxes are not the answer. Better deployment of tax dollars and a recreation of the funding system in Canada is needed. 1. First eliminating the public debt must be a #1 Priority this can be done by applying income taxes to what they were originally introduced for paying off the debt. 2. Second fiscal management must be responsible - this means no deficit spending, it isn't fair to spend other peoples money without their permission, we are not socialist. 3. Once the public debt is eliminated, taxes can be eliminated. It is vital that all non essential services such as law and order and defence and other areas of constitutional federal responsibility are handed over to the provinces or the people or converted into self funding crown corporations. 4. The government also need run all non essesential programs as fundraised initiatives. 5. Canada does not need higher taxes it needs better taxation, that actually addresses Canada's needs instead of partisan pet projects and vote buying. The best way tax dollars can be used is giving them back to the taxed, but we must pay down the debt first. All government programs can be funded by well managed legacy funds and public donations instead of extortion. Canada controls the value/quantity of the currency there is no need to tax. Our social safety net should be founded on employment, not handouts. -
Yeah, I'm sure Mr. Harper would love someone masquarading as the MP for Calgary West and saying he has resigned, they might actually start to think someone is representing them. Or rather SouthWest... wasn't he able to win Calgary west? Does this explain his actions with America? Hey all lets all be shadow MP's .. and make our own house of Commons, real work may get done, reasonable laws,.. ok what seat do you want? Wow and get paid for it by the federal government... the main issue was that the shadow MP was being paid with public funds to do that, and had a profolio that was public sector and he was using that as part of his campaign *culture and heritage*.. really illegal to do, like tony clement G20 funds for border security in the middle of ontario illegal. .. my gosh if I call up and launch a robo campagin saying Harper is resigning or any other member there would be hell to pay.. it is criminal. Technically the government should not be allowed to hire former partisan candiates especially card holders/current members for non partisan positions, it is a conflict of interest to do so. They should be declared as political staff/aides Wielding influence is illegal. It is a form of corruption. "No country is entirely free of corruption. But if corruption is deep enough it can hinder economic growth and good governance, and decay the fabric of society. Corruption is an obstacle to sustainable development, with the potential to enlarge economic gaps and breed organized crime. Unchecked corruption leaves little room for democracy to flourish; little room for freedom to expand; little room for justice to prevail." - Message from the government of Canada. "No Canada is entirely free of the Conservative Party. But if the Conservative Party is deep enough it can hinder economic growth and good governance, and decay the fabric of society. The Conservative Party is an obstacle to sustainable development, with the potential to enlarge economic gaps and breed organized crime. Unchecked the Conservative Parrty leaves little room for democracy to flourish; little room for freedom to expand; little room for justice to prevail."

I think the OP sounds a little racist. I'm a big supporter of universal justice, but of course you must take every individuals character into consideration, but I think casting people into ethnic histories, is a little much, like do we then take every dark skinned person and their history of enslavement, or every jew in their history of genocide, and every welsh and scott and irish person in their period of occupation, or iraqi or afghani, etc... While judges having a knowledge of Canadian history is one thing, there are many aboriginals who have nothing to do with residential schools, drug abuse or suicide. Courts needn't sterotype or apply ethnic histories on people who don't belong to them even if they are a band member or have a last name that sounds like one. While Native+ is one thing in terms of title and programs, the courts should be fair and exercise equality based upon the law. We are all victims of residential schools even if we personally did not get put in them, all Canadians must live with suicide and drug abuse and crime - these are not native identities they are global identities. The government needs to solve the problems the courts should not be involved in politics unless they are political crimes. No one owns the land, we are all victims of colonialism. The land is free. People are selfish whether native or european to deprive another human from liberty on account of the others personal gain. We must cooperate to be free, less in lack we will deprive others liberty for our own. All deserve freedom.

http://www.vancouversun.com/business/will+Canada+planes/6333350/story.html What got me in all this is that the company that had a solesource contract to fix a major airlines planes went in debt, but that the Air Canada act required them to be fixed in Canada, NOW they are contracting US companies to fix their planes. That is just plane wrong. If we are subsidizing and running it as an essential service, it should be giving Canadians jobs NOT americans.

If you asked the Schutzstaffel, what is your job? Do you think they would reply we hunt down opposition to the government and remove it so we can have a powerful unified party ehum rather Nation. Yesssss. NO, they would say Nein! Thereafter you would get a free train ticket to Disney World, all expenses paid. Clearly Zajdel may not have his job much longer. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/the-shadow-mp-his-salary-and-his-pub-stop-with-harper/article2377638/?from=sec368

This Content is Not Available in Your Country The content of this page may be blocked in Canada for allegedly infringing on copyrights, under the Copyright Modernization Act. Or maybe you just clicked to a page that doesn't exist anymore... .... Just a first glance it seems a move in the right direction but it looks like the measures don't go as far as the Social Platform, I'm liking some of what I'm seeing though. "Bank of Canada Policy A re-empowered Bank of Canada is critical for the survival of Canada as an independent and sovereign nation." I'm all for refocusing the central bank but it needs to be part of a complete overhall. Organize the public service like a bank and offer it as a public bank. " The Bank of Canada, unlike the Federal Reserve in the U.S., is wholly owned by the people of Canada. It was nationalized in 1938 and was used very successfully to fund infrastructure, social programs, education, etc, for the benefit of all Canadians. It was used to bring us out of the depression, funded WWII, to build highways such as the McDonald-Cartier freeway, public transportation systems, subway lines, airports, the St. Lawrence Seaway, our universal healthcare system and our Canada Pension Plan." We should be delving out EI and National Health Inusurance and CPP to services offered by a public bank. Allowing private banks to compete with these programs provided the programs are secure. "We must return to the Bank of Canada for a minimum of 50% of Government-created money (GCM). It is essential to maintaining our sovereignty (our monetary system must not be in the complete control of the private bankers and corporate elites." I don't understand why money needs to return to the bank if you can just make more and adjust based on inflation? People won't be enticed to hold the funds if their value is dropping heavily. It will encourage economic exchange from cash to hard goods like gold heating fuel and food for the bunker. " Fund new infrastructure (roads, bridges, hospitals, schools) could be built at a fraction of the cost because of reduced interest costs." We should let private industry take care of these things, we already have enough, there should only be a maximum of say 5% investment into these things because that is the growth rate. But it isn't federal except for ports and major highways, and these should be paid for with user fees. "Lend to provinces and municipalities at near or zero interest with the proviso that they maintain a certain level and quality of healthcare, housing and education. That means lower property taxes for all." DO NOT LEND MONEY TO ANYONE. DO NOT BORROW MONEY FROM ANYONE.. MAKE IT AND EARN IT. This is a provincial issue, the feds should offer a national health insurance plan though. Provincial issue but the government should offer content for heritage and langauges, and other "essential" civics and legal informations and content. University students should fund the future university studnets free education through an alumni fee so that the more graduates there are the more can attend. But based on how many full years of free education. It should be eased in from the lowest tutition.. creating a cieling of funding that increases as the alumni fund increases. "Ensure that a minimum of 50% of new money supply would be GCM on which not interest is paid (an increase from less than 5% currently)." Fiscal policies need to be brought into accord, and there should be a shift from taxation to inflation to cover costs. Credits should just be cut completely. People should be investing in commodities not cash if they want booked assets. "Amend the Bank Act requiring banks and other deposit taking institutions to maintain statutory cash reserves with the Bank of Canada." I don't agree with this one, I just think they should make it fraud if they can't pay out. And people who put money into banks should have plain language contracts indicating how their money can and cannot be used.

No language is imposed. Association is free in Canada. The courts will provide a translator to those who do not speak English or French, but for those who want government services, they are offered normally in English and French, also all official communications, instructions, laws etc.. are published in English and French. Ignorance of the law however is not an exhoneration of the requirement to uphold the law. Both the English and French versions can be interpreted separately in a legal case, enforcement etc... and no they are not necessarily identical, just similar. Also Quebec uses the Napoleonic Code, not English Common law in Civil courts, and they bring that to the Federal level. WHile each province has slightly different statute, it is more or less the same, Quebec is a little more unique however. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Civil_Code_of_Quebec People who live in Canada have no obligation to know French or English, but for citizenship they do, need to know atleast one at a basic level. Canada has long (for more than 40 years now, been a strong supporter of multiculturalism and support of ethnic communities, and enhancement of those communities and preservation of their ethnic identities, Canada is not a melting pot, it is a mosaic. You can be what you are in Canada, but arrests of Muslims tends to be more common than others for charges such as terrorism, so there may be some limits to ethnic culture support. Its not just bringing middle eastern customs to Canada, other things like Bigamy are frowned on also, even though they are accepted customs in Non English Common law cultures. The British were forced to preserve French Culture and Rights (Including preservation and rights for Catholics) as part of the treaty between the French and English in the Seven Years War (French and Indian War). Individual Provinces composed their own constitutions based upon the habitants of those areas. Some areas had a vocal French enfranchisement others did not.

Manitoba is more a case of the fact of the influence of the North West Company and Red River Metis who were the offspring of the NWC traders. However subsequently during the great western land grab that saw the colonization of the praries by all sorts of other non French groups, saw the influence of the French heritage in Manitoba eroded. http://www.collectionscanada.gc.ca/confederation/023001-3040-e.html Manitoba was created in 1870, while the Dominion Lands Act came about in 1872 after they joined confederation. It was from 1880-1890 that the former French population was turned into a great minority, as the Prairies population doubled in size. http://www.mhs.mb.ca/docs/mb_history/24/frenchpresence.shtml
