  1. What Israel is doing now is a little out of proportion to a kidnapping though. All of the bombing they're doing...the descruction of Lebanese infrastructure is NOT classifiable as "defending themselves". Don't parrot Bush and Harper for us please. Yes, blame the victim. Do you agree with Argus also, that these weren't real Canadians?
  2. That's just disgusting. Sick and disgusting. My parents came from England in the 60's, and still go to visit once in a while. Are they also "Canadians of convenience"? You know nothing about these people. They were on vacation, maybe there were children with them who were born in Canada, like I was. It shouldn't make any difference, but maybe there were. Would that change your disgusting attitude towards them? Your sentiment is just sick. I think if you answered my question about my family honestly you'd say that my family are Canadians because we're white. You're diminishing these people because to you they're less than human. They're Arab. I've not seem a more depraved post on the internet in a very long time. Congratulations.
  3. http://www.news1130.com/news/national/arti...ontent=n071637A He's too busy to answer questions I guess. It's the G8, they ALL take questions. Something is seriously wrong with that boy. And if these deaths can serve any purpose I hope they demonstrate to Canadians how idiotic Harpers ealier comments about this escallation. Lebanon cannot defend itself, and there's serious doubt that it could do anything about Hizbullah, so for Harper to have called all this bombing "self defense" and said that all the "onus" is on someone other than Israel to avoid further escallation was disgusting. He should be ashamed. It's been a "measured response" he feels? Let him tell that to the families of these dead Canadians.
  4. I'm no Conservative but if you have stories about how he is doing a bad job, I'd be interested to hear. I didn't claim any such thing. He (like most of Harpers cabinet) has been keeping a low profile as far as I have seen - and I read a lot of media. My point was that this article - picked up widely in the Liberal media btw - is based upon comments from a former Canadian Alliance MP, a former Reform worker, and a longtime party worker. If they had a political scientist with no known party affiliations answering what he/she thought of Days performance it would be interesting. Assuch, it's just a joke. He may well be doing a very good job....but don't present that judgement after talking to the choir. What's next...an article stating Bush is doing a great job because his mom says so?
  5. Ignore the fact that the video is on Jon Stewart and ignore everything Jon Stewart says. You are then left with the raw footage of Bush. And he mentioned the pig five times. The video shows two that weren't in response to questions, so your analysis is empty in that regard The one instance that he was responding to a question it was a question that he should have been happy to answer. Or maybe he's lost his mojo like some pundits speculate and can't talk tough on Iran anymore. The other two instances aren't on the video.
  6. http://www.newsday.com/news/nationworld/wo...0,7120698.story What an embarrassment. Here's the video: http://www.crooksandliars.com/posts/2006/0...sh-and-the-pig/ Ok, calling all American Republicans....do you honestly still think this President is doing anything close to a good job? I know I'm about to get the regular chorus of "YOU HATE BUSH!", but if anyone is interested in showing some honesty that would be refreshing.
  7. People say the US is a dictatorship now. After all, with a signing statement Bush can excuse himself from any law. I would not make that claim, because I think it is partisan nonsense. On what do you base your assurtion that Russia is now a dictatorship as of several years ago?
  8. That Liberal media, at it again. People think Stockwell is doing a good job (people like a former Canadian Alliance MP and former Reform worker and a longtime party worker) and that's news? And they finnish off with what Ezra Levant thinks! Good grief. Jennifer Ditchburn, I'll have to remember her name. I've never seem a bigger Conservative puff piece in my life.
  9. God, I spat my coffee when I watched this. Poor Bush, I almost feel sorry for the guy. click on picture to play video... BUSH: I talked about my desire to promote institutional change in parts of the world, like Iraq, where there’s a free press and free religion. And I told him that a lot of people in our country would hope that Russia will do the same thing. I fully understand, however, that there will be a Russian-style democracy. PUTIN: We certainly would not want to have same kind of democracy as they have in Iraq, quite honestly. BUSH: Just wait!
  10. I'm not sure if there was a wait time schedule as part of the platform, but I do know they said if anyone can't get a medical procedure within a set wait time they would be transported to a jurisdiction that can provide the procedure. That's not a cheap proposal. My point is, I don't see it as the easiest thing to do at all. Like you, I don't know why he would take it out. Evidently, they haven't taken it out since it still appears on the websites. He must have had a severe brain cramp. And it's not something that can be "passed" as far as I know. The pledge was to work with the provinces, so it takes some cooperation and inventiveness. I doubt they'll get it done, so you're on.
  11. Which makes it all the more interesting a news story. Given his obvious propensity to follow the teachings of Frank Luntz, it makes one wonder what his thinking was. Surely you're not suggesting he's so stupid to have listed his priorities incorrectly not once, not twice, but THREE times in an article he wrote? Is that what you're suggesting?
  12. Not the CBC geoffrey. Try to look at things a little bit before posting so I don't have to waste my time explaining simplistics to you. It's a Macleans story, and they reported that it's still on the government website. Since the Macleans story, it's was written up by the CP. CP, not CBC. And that story has been picked up by The National Post (that bastion of liberal media), Canoe.ca, Winnipeg Free Press, Canada East, Toronto Star, and CJAD. I know when you guys see the letters "CBC" your brain switches off! Oh really? A slip up, huh? You really that gullible? Read the story. Read BOTH stories, the Macleans and the CP. From the Macleans story: The guy slipped up, huh? Don't be ridiculous.
  13. Sorry gerry, in all the excitement I've missed your intelligent approach. What was that again? Nevermind troll.
  14. This news has now been picked up by CP. So far I see it appearing in Winnipeg Free Press, Canada East, CBC, Toronto Star, and 940 News. Link: http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/news/st...11708be&k=86295 And before anyone starts crying about the Liberal press PLEASE learn the difference between news and bias...THIS IS NEWS. edit: changed link from CBC to National Post version to spare geoffrey's emotions.
  15. Are you suggesting that Al Gore stop breathing? That's the moronic argument he's making. Nobody can say anything about global warming (or any other environmental concern) unless they live in the bush with a loin cloth. That's the ad hom argument of folks like Johnny Utah. Exactly. Unfortunately, an "intelligent" approach to tackling the problem is being cramped by those who won't admit humans human greenhouse gas creation is causing the problem.
  16. Perhaps, but they don't usually engage in such clumsy bait & switch as this. This isn't lying so much as an Orwelian re-write.
  17. http://www.macleans.ca/switchboard/columni...4_130433_130433 What is Steve thinking? Was it an honest mistake, just like him telling reporters that he'd handed over documents requested by elections canada when he hasn't?
  18. Ok well then I guess you will shortly be b1tching about Harpers trip to Edmonton to see game six then.
  19. What is your objection, specifically? And do you object to PM Steve taking a private jet for the "ultimate boys night out" to see game six in Edmonton as well? I've always wondered why people b1tch about our nations leaders using private airplanes to get from place to place. Do you think anyone in the US b1tches about the President doing it? It's just partisan sniping.
  20. No, obviously not everybody was abused. All children were taken. This shows how little you understand about the issue. Go speak to those who suffered in residential schools and the children of those who suffered. Ask them if a "conclusion" has been reached. You don't even know the facts, there has been no legal remedy and there has been no societal remedy. In your mind aboriginals have been treated fairly and the issues are settled. There's no need for something like the Kelowna Accord, correct?
  21. What about if all of your peoples children had been snapped up against their will and put in state-run schools where they were subject to physical and sexual abuse? What if this went on for decades, and left a legacy of despair, mental illness, and substance abuse? You think this is ancient history? It's not. And that's not even mentioning all of the treaties. So yes, we do owe our original citizens a debt. You say "equality", but what you mean is screw them.
  22. Your post is quite ironic given the instruction of Frank Luntz to the CPC to keep bashing the Liberals. Are you a member of the CPC? I don't mind politics being played...but it would be nice to see some mature governance as well. It appears like the CPC is following a policy of strategic behaviour to secure a majority. I suspect it will backfire...Canadians aren't as stupid as Frank Luntz seems to think they are.
  23. No, that's what all the outraged old farts calling for their heads are. I'm offended, but I don't want to see the lives of these kids ruined like some of the intollerant old farts I've been hearing from.
  24. They know who it as and aren't charging him? Is there a news item on that? I'd react the same as you, but I sure as h#ll would not want my kid going to jail over it. Kids make stupid mistakes, and they deserve punishment but nobody would be making my kid a martyr for the sake of a appeasing the outrage of intollerant old f@rts. And I repeat, PM Harper should have kept his mouth shut over this. Political opportunism of that kind is not worthy of the nations leader.
  25. Yep, it's the fault of the Liberal teachers. Probably the single mothers are to blame as well. Those rotton kids just don't have any respect for anything anymore. Not like when we were kids, huh? No good for nothing little brats should all be sent off to boot camp. How old would you say that kid is? 17? 15? Tsk tsk, underage drinking too. Harper should bring in the war measures act. Man, he's a decisive leader....coming right out and declaring this disgusting and whatever else he came right out and declared. Man, I'd vote for him in a heartbeat. I wonder what he thinks of that guy who got shot in neighbourhood the other day. Hmmmm, he didn't say anything about that. Isn't he going to comment on that crime also?
