1, 2, 3 people who don't recognize what's happening in the world. By far the most serious threat is Global Warming. Terrorism is a speck compared to it. If half of the Greenland ice shelf, which is exhibiting the same symptoms as the Larson B ice shelf did (remember that one?), were to disintegrate it would raise sea levels by 20 feet. Anyone who thinks terrorism outweighs that is kidding themselves. Already Global Warming is killing far more people than terrorism ever has. I appreciate that Harper has to address security and make sure our agencies are vigilant, but his ongoing dialogue and focus should be on Global Warming. CSIS and the RCMP and the rest of law enforcement are hard at work protecting us as best they can, if our PM chooses to make terrorism rather than the FAR greater threat of Global Warming his public focus then the only conclusion is that he's decided that dialogue will generate more votes. I think he's wrong on all counts.

Harper at the World Urban Forum in Vancouver: "Of course, in our modern world, sadly, the most serious challenge of all is the threat of terrorism". Anyone who follows current events knows that Global Warming is our most serious challange. And our most serious threat. Harper is out of touch. Willfully, I suspect. GO SEE "AN INVCONVENIENT TRUTH" IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY. IF YOU HAVE, GO SEE IT AGAIN. Then you will be armed with the truth, and able to act with conviction to bring around the partisan deniers. Canadian Taxpayers Federation
gerryhatrick replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
But they often use dishonest arguments because they're more effective. Exactly. The CTF has no credibility. From the "million dollar toilet" to this balls-up with their teddie awards, they've been arrogant and dishonest. They're farrightwing roots are showing. -

Link: http://allpoliticsnow.com/content/view/24/1/ I never realized that organization was political. I'm amazed that with multiple offices and directors across the nation they wouldn't even have the brains to make one phone call to confirm a story that they HAD to realize would make waves. Their "teddies" have been lapped up by the media for years now, so they should have thought about a little due dilligence maybe. Just saw this organization cited in the media again. -
It was tounge in cheek. A forked tongue perhaps? Huh?

lol! It's crazy, huh? That's the kind of thing that the fanatical CBC haters call bias I guess. There's even a website called "cbcwatch". I've checked it out and boy oh boy, are they complaining about zippo. Every fart sounds like bias to them.
-
What the F? What are you complaining about? It's a news item, and it's the latest news, and the stuff in the text boxes is one of the most relavent portions of that news. What an incredibly bizarre accusation. I'm amazed that anyone would find these links biased. The hatred of the CBC has reached a level of freakishness.

I Dont Care Where Imigrants Come From
gerryhatrick replied to JMH's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
You go right ahead and report me. I would be honored to be banned from a forum for having called out a person who openly attempts to marginalize and demonize Muslims in this great nation. It's a hateful web you weave. -
I Dont Care Where Imigrants Come From
gerryhatrick replied to JMH's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Your fear mongering over Muslims multiplying and eventually outnumbering others (i.e. Christians) and then gaining control of government and enacting religious law is REPUGNANT. If you truely believe that Muslims - 1st, 2nd, 3rd generation or otherwise - are going to vote en masse for religious law once they gain a majority status in Canada then you quite obviously know nothing about Muslims in Canada. You are unable to see the realities of the world around you or who is living in it. Or you enjoy spreading hate and fear-mongering. Or both. -
Hey! I do not get it either! Maybe my intelligence is insulted... That's OK CA, at least you weren't a pr1ck about it! Look up the definition of "satire", take a look at the linked topic and again at this one. You should get it then.

Muslim leaders claim society excludes youth
gerryhatrick replied to Canuck E Stan's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Shahina isn't "blaming Canadian society". She said youth can feel victimized by Islamophobia (none of that on this board) and become marginalized, which makes them easier pray for extremism. It's avalid point, something that should be encouraged not stomped on as you've done. I can't believe you'd take a headline and run with it, and then get outraged that Muslims are "blaming Canadian society". Life is a little more in depth than a headline. -
With your tounge planted squarely on the cheek of your ass maybe, you can explain why you would insult everyone's intelligence with starting such a stupid topic. Unless your just trying to be a flamin' troll. I think you insult your own intelligence by not comprehending the simple concepts of parody and satire. I even linked the target for godsake. If you don't like it because you agree with JRH, fine. But don't complain your "intelligence" has been insulted.

Look, JMH wants the doors shut to Muslims because they have children who may or may not plan terrorists attacks. Wait...was that it? Oh nevermind. It's a known fact that some blacks come here and form gangs. Aren't those black gangs responsible for a bunch of shootings which killed people, some of them white? What I mean is, Canadian citizens come first. So what I'm saying is...we have no way of knowing if a black person is coming here as an immigrant or to join in a gang and start killing Canadians. Didn't we learn anything from Air India? They were black. They weren't Muslim, but they were certainly black. So, shut the door to all black people. I challange the Prime Minister to remove all undesirables and not let anymore in. This is my Country, I'm white and that's how I like it. BTW, to anyone not realizing it yet my tongue is planted firmly in my cheek. To understand why, read this: http://www.mapleleafweb.com/forums//index.php?showtopic=5927

Just curious JMH, what does your post have to do with your title? Your title indicated that these 17 arrests are a "drop in the bucket", yet your rant against Muslims and immigration made no reference to that. Oh and by the way, the Air India bombers were Sikhs, not Muslims. Slight difference.

Isn't one hateful anti-Muslim thread anough from you?

An anti-Muslim thread and betsy is never far away! Betsy, all I can say is get extra locks, buy a gun, and start a petition to get all Muslims kicked out of your neighbourhood. Or have you done all that already? -
I Dont Care Where Imigrants Come From
gerryhatrick replied to JMH's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I clearly hope you were having a bad day when you wrote this. Otherwise it is one of the most racist statements I've read yet on this forum. Who says he's racist? He is stereotyping that's all and just stating his opinion. No doubt others will say he's not being "racist" because being Muslim is a religion, not a race. He's being intollerant and narrow-minded though. It is unreasonable to say we should not allow Muslims into Canada, yes. And your poll has nothing to do with that. -
Al Gore's "Inconvenient Truth" tops "Break up"
gerryhatrick replied to gerryhatrick's topic in Political Philosophy
Typical rightwing response....it's gratifying! -
Quite alright. Reciprocating against terrorists does not require a declaration of war. Saying it does is just silly. It is more than acceptable to take any and all actions against perpetrators of terrorism or conspirators of terrorism without labelling it a "war on terror". I have to agree with the points made in the original link. A war on specific enemies would have been much wiser all around.
-
Actually it is Iraq and Afghanistan combined. You say that the US is pretending to be at war. I say they are very much at war. Whether it is against terror in the case of Iraq is debatable I admit. You're confused again, I did not say the US is pretending to be at war. I say a war on terror is a bad idea.
-
lol. Against all logic and factual basis to the contrary. Is fear how he got in there the first time? Or was it Liberal shenanigans (which is just a kind word for fraud/robbery). I don't see how the last election excuses Harper for jumping on the "I'll protect you from terrorists who hate us 'cause of our values!" bandwagon.

Harper is taking a page out of the US propoganda book
gerryhatrick replied to AndrewL's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Nevermind taking a page, he's ripping off the whole Bush book. In the morning shooting his mouth off about what he thinks motivates people just arrested, and in the afternoon doing it again in front of Canadian Forces recruits. -
A List of Canadian Terrorists
gerryhatrick replied to Johnny Utah's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Holy Crap! You want us to believe a rightwing thinktank that has been sued in the past for making false allegations! -
Approximately 200,000 military personnel committed, approaching 400 billion spent, approximately 18,000 official casualties (could be much higher). It may not be a winning strategy but it doesn't sound like a virtual war to me. You're confused. You included statistics from Iraq. That was a war on Iraq, not terror.
