http://www.cbc.ca/news/politics/story/2012/03/08/pol-milewski-eglinton-lawrence.html A stack of late registration forms shows many provided no address, which is required by the elections law. Others have bogus addresses — a UPS store in one case, a Scotiabank branch in another. If this is true there should be a by election in that riding so that all parties have a fair chance this time

U.S joins the combat part of the war way late and then decides to drop a nuke, yeah, quite the performance by the americans

http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/2011/06/17/tories-medical-marijuana-outlaw_n_878871.html THE CANADIAN PRESS -- The federal government is poised to tighten the rules on medical marijuana so that only licensed private operators are allowed to grow it, The Canadian Press has learned. Sources say Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq wants to take individuals and Health Canada out of the business of growing pot. Instead, she wants to tender licenses to the private sector to produce marijuana in a way that is similar to how conventional drugs are produced -- by companies, under tightly regulated conditions.

That is a curious statement because their lawyer in the Right to die case that is in the courts are arguing other countries are trying to limit assisted suicide cases and they point to studies that show a slippery slope (even though there isn't any and the studies were by groups against assisted suicide) Now you're saying "since this isn't other countries" yet they use other countries as examples in other cases
-
Actually her card expired and it can't be renewed because health canada is in the middle of trying to revamp the medical marijuana industry, instead of letting people grow their own they're going to have to buy it from a company they're going to get to make the marijuana .. this is still ongoing, it could be a year or two before she's legally allowed to smoke marijuana

I will tell the lady across the street who has lung cancer if she doesn't want to go to prison for 6 months that she shouldn't be growing pot
-
The road to hell is paved with good intentions, putting non violent Canadians in prison which will give them records just for growing pot is ridiculous, it's going to screw their lives up, they'll have a harder time getting a good job because of the record, it will lead to more crime, US states like Texas are telling Harper mandatory sentences against Marijuana do not work..people from all over the world are telling Harper it does not work and yet he's doing this anyway He doesn't believe this is the best thing for Canadians, it's an insult to anyone's intelligence to believe that crap
-
Yes, and the liberal government would be wrong too, I am not a liberal and I have no loyalty to any party, all I want is a government that doesn't over reach its boundaries Private Prisons what?
-
I don't assume or play what if games, their is no point really We could be here all day playing what if hitler didn't stab Russia in the back and what if U.S didn't drop the nuke..it's a waste of time

Harper has too many, I agreed with a couple of them ..being Getting rid of Kyoto & The Long Gun Registry, but The Long Form Census should have stayed, private prisons..don't need, mandatory sentences for Marijuana..don't need, Scrapping the Wheat Board..should have let the farmers vote on it themselves, The internet spying bill.. sure as hell do not need, the copyright bill.. sure as hell do not need! It seems as if everything is their signature initiative Isn't killing the Liberal party at the top of that list?

I guess this was all just trying to appease the masses though http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/story/2011/08/26/pol-.html "The government's position has always been that the government governs for everyone," Harper said during a media availability at a Yellowknife hospital, where he announced extended territorial health funding Thursday. "The government provides a clear direction in what we know are troubled economic times around the world, and the government is prepared to adapt and listen to the Canadian population when necessary When necessary means when we do something bad we'll say we'll amend the bill but not really amend the bill in the sections which you want amended

we're talking assumptions here, you made a textbook assumption and you denied you made it I can assume a lot of things too ya know
-
That's right, I can't pretend people I don't like don't exist until I become an MP for the sitting government

The Latest Example Of The Entitlement Society
olpfan1 replied to Shady's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
Why hasn't she been taken off government services? Seems like someone screwed up -
That's because the conservatives you know are hillbillies from the Praries
-
yes it is an assumption, do you not know the definition of assumption? Something accepted as true without proof; a supposition
-
I doubt that, the conservative people that I know on this forum and in real life think pot should be legalized and regulated
-
Are you saying Canadians want that omibus crime bill where it punishes pot heads more than child pornographers? Or that Canadians prefer to be spied on? or that Canadians want more private prisons? No, that is what that party wants, not Canadians
-
Since when do politicians listen to the people? Once you're an MP in the government you go by party lines when you vote, unless you're of the few who are true politicians and vote against your government or party in a controlled vote because it was the view / best interests of your constituents ..then you get punished

Your Barack Obama 3-year report card

be honest here though, I will put my dislike for Obama aside this once and say he has had a pretty crappy deal here with the GOP blocking him at every attempt to wind the deficit down -

Robocall protests to be held Canada-wide
olpfan1 replied to capricorn's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
to be honest democracy doesn't concern me, I'm not really all that patriotic and I've only voted in 2 elections (the last federal & provincial elections) and I don't care too much about protesting I just really really really really do not like these conservatives And when the NDP or Liberals become the next government I won't like them either -
I had to vote "Distrust in all ways" for all 3 parties I guess I am one paranoid son of a bitch

We don't know if they would have prevented hundreds of thousands of deaths, you're allowed to guess but don't act like you know it was a fact
