This is Hard For Me to Say... But I Am Sorry
uOttawaMan replied to Nocrap's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Your apology has made you weak. -
Exactly. The concept may be a little too deep for them, but there are reasons for the Geneva conventions. What's too deep here is the concept of people like you and Black Dog being more concerned about ambiguous violations of the Geneva convention, while completely overlooking blatant mistreatment of prisoners by radicals. Apparently leftists like you two can't wrap your minds around that and would rather nitpick at the countries that our trying to free nations from those radicals. I thought that Afghanistan was already free from "radicals" and we were there to help maintain order and re-build. After all, they have a democratically elected government. I understand the need to get information from "detainees" i love that term instead of "prisoners of war" , my only concern is by using torture to get this information, does that not just make our methods the same as the "radicals" as you call them? I know this probably doesn't make sense.. but if they are going to use "Aggressive interrogation" methods, then we shouldn't bitch and moan when the same thing happens to us. All's fair in love and war as it were. So eye for an eye if thats what you feel will work, but just realise you lose some of your "moral high ground".

PLease pick up your phone.. I'm calling you..

Most important mission in decades.. I lol'd.

The part that I laugh at, is he posts once, never comments on it again, and everyone else flames the hell out of each other.

Where do we draw the "tolerance line"?
uOttawaMan replied to JerrySeinfeld's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
I say we draw the tolerance line across my fist. -
Yawn with yawning.

Everyone is biased, ergo we shouldn't have to deal with such a thing as 'ethics'. That sentence makes as much sense and dirt in a sterile envrionment.

Don't get Argus banned, I enjoy seeing him boost his e-ego through attempts to demean everyone around him.
-
The more I read Argus, the more I lol.

America comprises our entire national defense strategy, we are not a soverign country without full American support. Canada does not have the ability to defend itself against any attack whatsoever. Apparently neither does the US.

Go and search for it Uboy. I went through school before the WWW. We actually learned to write our own stuff instead of cutting and pasting off the internet. That's stream of consciousness of someone who types at 100 words per minute and hasn't been raised as an emotionally crippled, imaginatively barren, spoiled vidiot whose jaded nature comes off comic books instead of the life experience he hasn't yet had. Your insecure prattle serves as a stark example of why I find your comments highly amusing. Noone respects you for trying to insult a person based on age, claiming that because you have lived longer, you somehow have a monopoly on being right. You say you are an expert at being snide, but you just come across as being a raging, impotent, bitter man. I'm sure you will attempt to trivialize my post, by further insulting my intelligence, citing my age as a reason for why I could not possible have anything valuable to say, and that's fine, its an e-forum, absolutely nothing of any real world importance could ever come from your, mine, or anyone's rants here. So go ahead, flame on.

Although I am in agreement with Harper, I would say that blindy accepting things without at least pondering them is not a sound plan. That being said, it seems we all at least agree that there really is no issue here. As for that RCMP comment, even if they are there, that has nothing to do with military action, as they aren't a part of the Armed Forces. But the same being said, just because a group of men is designated a police force (MP's for example) does not mean they are not an invasion force. The US army used MP regiments as front line combat soldiers in Iraq.

I really fail to see how making the census more cost effective and efficient is a bad thing. Surely we have more pressing matters to hurl our impotent rage at. Edit: K Wow, the longer i spend on the forum, the more and more right-wing I start to sound. Damn you people are convincing.. or are subliminally manipulating me..

I'd like to know from what source Argus copied that cute little compilation.

Where did he copy that from?

But why should assimilation be forced upon people? (this next bit has nothing to do with the so called anti-American part of Canadian culture, im using it strictly as an example) The US has a melting pot assimilation style view of immigration, and I would not say for certain that they have any less, or the potential for any less cultural fractioning. If anything, I would say they are largely culturally fractured. At the same time, I acknowledge your point, what I just stated does nothing to say that the same thing could not happen to Canada without addressing it. My whole point is, if you really think about it, Canadian's sense of nationalism (such an artificial thing of which i am highly skeptical) is based on very few things that all can agree upon.. its more like combined regional pride.
-
I especially agree with the second point you made, Canadian culture is basically just trying to seperate ourselves from the Americans. Logical maybe, at one point neccessary for survival surely, but nowadays what real purpose does it serve? Other than to make people think that if we hold our noses, we must be better liked abroad than the US. Lol at the last line.. no no your definetly Canadian.. but what that means.. who knows. You see uOttawaman, compassionate conservatism is what it's all about (that's why the crime rate in my nation is so low..."progressive social policies in education and welfare.") You are gonna laugh at this.. my nation went from "Scandanavian Liberal Paradise" to "Capitalizt" with a "z". Must be the influence of you cons on this forum... LOL.. aww crap.. I just checked it now.. I now preside over a 'Capitalist Paradise" . Times, they are a changing.

The Oscars are the biggest waste of air to date.

George Bush is on record saying God told him to invade Iraq. What a religious wacko. God told me to start a religion in which I wear a blackjack on my hip. I better get protection by the courts.
-
My whole point was referring to Argus, who seems to believe that Canadians actually have a national identity and culture, to which he thinks that all immigrants should be forced into.
-
Lol and please please explain to me what Canadian culture and identity is, because as far as I can tell, in English Canada, its Tim Hortons, hockey, and anti-Americanism. More like what are we not than what we are.

Oh, NOW that you're being called for it you QUALIFY it further. You never said "fanatics" before either. Or that they were running around with "swords", just kirpans. In actuality, you called my nieghbour who wears robe-like clothes (not a costume) a "goat-herder". He's not a fanatic, and nothing I said would give you that impression. If someone routinely wears wierd costumes around because of his religious zeal then he's a fanatic. And virtually all such people are from third-world rat holes. There's nothing racist in saying that. Maybe if you ever get a decent grasp on language you'll have a better chance of not being walked on during arguments around here. Again, you don't understand what the word means. You're simply regurgitating the politically correct mental mush you have been fed because your mind never opened up enough to consider life's complexities. So your saying Sikh members of parliament are "goat herders " too, just because the are Sikh? And how does being bigoted make life complex? If anything it's simplifying your life because you a breaking things down into stereotypical classes, without having to actually get to know the people or issue you are addressing.
