Crime Rate Drops to Lowest Level
uOttawaMan replied to jdobbin's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Oh yes, the crime rates would go down when things like a judge ruling border officers need search warrants to search a vehicle. Brilliant. -
Trudeau better than Harper and Mulroney combined

Canada in Afghanistan: Are we doing this right?
uOttawaMan replied to August1991's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
Oh ya? What would you call it then? I hope it's something vague and comforting, like "conflict" or "military action" -
Some critics have compared Harper to Hitler

This poll is so flawed and ridiculous, it has me tickled blue. -
Stupidest waste of Parliamentary time and money ever.

Why? They post excellent profits and dividends as it is.

Are the conservatives commiting suicide?

I doubt you'll find very many apathetic posters ... err i mean.. neutral moderates on these forums. -

Oh? They aren't getting basic human rights now? You are right, we should get out the old Liberal peacekeeping gear and hand out cookies to the Taliban.

We ? I think "they" have a problem, unless the perps use bombs...then it is we. How long until someone here blames Arar ? (where is mikedavid anyway) Haha.. you said "perp". -
Hillier isn't going anywhere.

Because one only has to use one's mind to realise that it doesn't matter in the slightest anyway. It's a beautiful political move. It leaves the Liberals whining for apologies. It locks up the CF vote. (Not that it was ever in doubt anyway) Without having to do anything he leaves the Liberals in a whole to dig themselves out of, and get rid of those comments off the minds of the electorate. The 'worst thing' that came out of it for him is "whispers" that these statements 'could' hurt him and the party?

You sir are earning respect with each and every well-considered and thoughtful post you make. Did anonymously issuing an order on an Internet message board relieve your anger at your clear lack of power and feelings of powerlessness in your everyday life? Starving the Canadian Forces to the point that CODS Hillier spoke out about the refreshing change and invigoration brought by the Harper Goverment to the CF. Does the second anonymous order may you feel better? Does my not "slinking away" add to your rage? I guess he missed the last decade of darkness for the CF. Got so bad they couldn't even project the image of an unarmed person in camo with a cute little blue helmet handing out cookies and blankets. Oh wait.. that's that darned "peacekeeping army" myth cropping up again.

I would call it happiness at evidence of justice in the universe. Harper turncoating on the principles he claimed to stand for and selling out the interests of the very people who supported him is 'evidence of justice' in your eyes? My my. How dare people's strategies change.

Never alleged any particular person of being behind the rumour. How do you know it's a rumor? Because until any proof of such conversations occuring are brought forward, is it, in fact, a rumour.

Who the hell cares if one was an off-duty firefighter? That has nothing to do with the situation. When's the last time someone says while resisting officers: "I'm an off-duty garbageman!!! A GARBAGEMAN!!!!" Being a firefighter doesn't give you some magical get away with crimes status.

Awww.. someone got called out and didnt like it? ZINGGGG

It looks like the CBC is starting to hits its stride again. Not to mention , they WILL be without HNIC in the VERY near future. That's like taking a two by four and swinging it clean through someone's stride.

Sure we need more cops! As someone in the process right now... I like that idea. In all seriousness, there are a myriad of systemic problems, the courts definetly included... which are the reasons why "crimes go unpunished" in the public opinion.

If selling himself all the way to majority is being a sell-out.. then yes.

Good man ! Does what's best for his constituents. Too bad he had to be in a position where he no longer cares about his political future to really do so.

Poll: Should We Have A Referendum On Same-Sex Marriage?
uOttawaMan replied to betsy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So it's up to a judge or partisan politics to determin the social norms of our society? That's what I call a non democratic dictatoriship. You find me some non-partisan politics anywhere, and I'll gladly eat this cookie.
