  1. Yup, that's stupid alright. What I mean is when there's banter going on in a thread: A - "Trudeau is good for the country and all Canadians stand 100% behind him!" B - "FFS, quit being an idiot - the guy is a fiscal nightmare." The "idiot" comment being reported and whined about is where I take issue. Are people really that frickin sensitive? Maybe they need to go back in their safe space and hide if that's the case.
  2. I'm absolutely fine with the name calling, etc as long as it's evenly enforced. Don't much care what the rules are as long as they apply to everyone the same way. This place was getting way, way too politically correct for a long time. Glad to see a little "life" being brought back.
  3. The way I read that exchange (you and Michael) was that he wasn't responsible for moderating that particular section of the forum. My guess is that the team has split up responsibilities for moderation (like in other forums I've been in). If I had to take a completely uneducated guess (based on other forum policies), a moderator can only post as a member on sections of the forum that they do not moderate themselves. I actually have always liked that idea as it keeps them from posting with any bias when involved in a thread. Of course, like normal, I'm probably wrong.
  4. We've always had it. It's just that progressives like to denounce it as "god bothering" or "......ism" or "......phobia". Apparently, loudly denouncing brutality and disgustingly barbaric acts against women and children makes us "intolerant of other cultures".
  5. Whether you are pro-immigration or anti-immigration, this is barbarism plain and simple. The fact that certain people refuse to call "a spade a spade" doesn't change that. If immigrants themselves aren't willing to PUBLICLY denounce these kind of caveman-like actions, then they absolutely deserve to wear the names and stereotypes that are foisted upon them. In the west, we call this torture. And psychotic. And cruel. And anyone who is not an immigrant would be convicted and jailed for brutalizing children. These are the types of people who are found to be in need of segregation in prison because even the inmates want them dead. But we shouldn't say anything like that because........islamophobia. Disgusting. Edit: After looking into this a little more, it seems that it is primarily African in nature and less prominent in areas that are muslim. So much for me jumping to conclusions. http://www.ohchr.org/Documents/HRBodies/CEDAW/HarmfulPractices/GenderEmpowermentandDevelopment.pdf
  6. Do you mean policies like that being implemented by the godling Trudeau? THOSE impractical and trendy policies? Even staunch conservatives like Argus can't offset the utter stupidity of the scads of people that are electing governments like this which are led by completely empty suits.
  7. And that would lead to yet another logical conclusion: A Canadian citizen's right to ignore another person's expression and ignore another person's religion. It would also protect Canadian citizens from having another person's expression or religion imposed upon them. It would also allow a Canadian citizen to openly criticize another person's expression and religion as stupid, corrupt, repugnant, disgusting or immoral. When a government places a higher importance on one groups expression or religion, it is violating that separation willingly. And THAT is not a success.
  8. Again, there can be no criminal consequences as what was done is not criminal in nature. That would likely violate their Charter Rights and they would be entitled to......$10.5 million??? Technically, yes.
  9. Yes, they are. "A Canadian is a Canadian is a Canadian" https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/news-video/a-canadian-is-a-canadian-is-a-canadian-harper-trudeau-spar-over-right-to-revoke-citizenship/article26580135/
  10. No law was broken as far as I can tell.
  11. Can you be more specific? Which "great institutions" are you referring to? Separation of church and state or something else?
  12. ^^ This is my kind of humor. Kudos GH.
  13. If a poster is "cluttering" threads with, say, conspiracy theories - you know Charles would just tell you to "ignore and report". For the longer term members, think back on your time here....there have been so many people like this on here over the years that you can't count them all.... Lictor666 - everything was "why whites are superior" Norman Chateau - everything was "Harper is evil" The "Mohawk Warrior" guy - everything was "Mohawks of Six Nations will take back their land" MikeDavid (and all of his subsequent incarnations) - everything was "don't Tax Me" and "homosexuals are what's wrong with this country" Me! - everything is "Alberta rocks - everything else sucks, especially Notley and Trudeau" I know the best way to "deal with" posters like this are to completely ignore them, but even if everyone did, they would just come back in one form or another. It can be too much fun poking the bear in these cases - I just try not to do it too much. And are these people really breaking any forum rules (any more than the rest of us)? If someone calls a past US politician a war criminal, is that technically incorrect? Imagine if you were living in the country where the "war action" took place - maybe they DO refer to that person as a war criminal.
  14. I'm really starting to enjoy this whole thing... Go back (not that long ago) and check the thread that is all bitching about moderation and read it. Posters complained that moderators were using too heavy a hand when giving out suspensions. Then the whining continued that moderators were removing "improper" posts and comments without warning. Then the ever-present sniveling about moderators not having a rock solid definition of "trolling". Then what happens? Moderators take a new approach - they are hands off except for extreme cases on the board....and posters bitch and whine about "no moderation" and "not taking down bad posts" and "not handing out suspensions to trolls". Well, which is it people? What exactly do you want on MLW? Moderation? No moderation? Suspensions? Free reign to post whatever? Make up your friggin minds for once. I happen to think the board is regulating itself just fine. "Trolls" are being sniped back at a little and then ignored by everyone for the most part. Isn't that what everyone was crying for in the first place - to do whatever is within the rules and not have The Hands of Greg come smashing down? Grow up or go home. /rant
  15. Hey! Don't forget about us "alt-right" fools that refuse to believe that anything like conspiracies could exist. You really need to be more inclusive. Hopefully McCain beats this, but the stress of the treatment can sometimes be almost as bad as the disease. The man is 80 and that likely doesn't bode well.
  16. 1. So this criminal makes IEDs to use against Canadians and Americans. 2. Then this criminal gets caught fighting for the wrong side and gets sent to Gitmo. 3. Then this criminal's "rights" are violated and he gets a $10mil payout. 4. Next.......Canada needs to take back the money as it is "proceeds of crime" - see point #1.
  17. It's a culture that won't be kicked around like a small dog.
  18. That is AWESOME! Krav maga for the win. Methinks I just figured out my next vacation.
  19. And the OP article is just some anti-oil tree hugger type.
  20. And where, pray tell, are those electric drive trains getting their electricity from? The Electricity Fairy? And how can diesel trains not "possibly complete"? In what regard can they not compete? Torque? Emissions? Noise level? They are far, far superior when used in areas outside of urban/suburban centers since diesel is portable and burns no matter what - electricity can discharge if stored (batteries) or diminish over distances (it electric lines or rails are used). Want to get a train stranded in the mountains? Send an electric one. Sorry but Seba is a complete flake who is just trying to get published....in anything....even a newspaper. Nothing more than an eco-evangelist it seems. He's dreaming and his writing reads like a 1960's fortune teller at a county fair. He points to no hard data in his assumptions and that this is just daydreaming is exceedingly obvious.
  21. Oh, that little story is frickin hilarious....from back in May (I KNEW I had heard that crap before). This guy has absolutely nothing to back up his assumptions. Zero. I could just as easily write: "Peak oil will arrive in 2122 at 3 billion bpd. The spread of cheap cars will ensure that Ethiopia will become the country with the highest car per person ratio and the price of crude oil will be steady at $75US/barrel as demand increases, ensuring that conventional and non-conventional extraction methods are used to their fullest degree. Oil exploration will become the single largest employment industry accounting for over 89% of all employees worldwide. EV batteries will be a thing of the past as consumers largely abandon the unsuccessful technology introduced this century. With Tesla's value falling rapidly, Nintendo will purchase all of the trademarked technology for its next generation of handheld games that only need to be charged once per year. After realizing that carbon dioxide emissions have actually exponentially increased food production and opened areas of the planet to conventional harvest practices, government subsidies will be created to encourage people to use as much oil and oil byproducts as possible." Now wasn't that fun?
  22. If they had, there would be one more dead terrorist and Canadian taxpayers would still have their $10.5 million. Seems a real shame that they didn't.
  23. As far as I know, there are no internationally recognized treaties that address "child terrorists". As this guy was not a national (he was a Canadian), the only way he could legally be recognized as a "child soldier" would be if he was officially fighting for one of the "recognized" sides. He wasn't - he was engaged in terrorist activities, which as far as I am aware, carries no protections whatsoever. Canada should have had absolutely no responsibility to him as he had abdicated his citizenship for all intents and purposes.
  24. How does one take a picture of something that is vaporized? Would it be a picture of vapor?
