  1. Please share with us the reliable source that shared this with you and no one else. Thanks.
  2. Robert, I see only that you're trying to equate political donations to political appointments. If I can become "a director of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Canada" for a donation of a mere $1000, count me in. Does anyone seriously believe that you can buy a position like this for a grand without considering that the guy might actually be qualified for the position? Bank of Canada
  3. Then do that for a change. Come up with some credible evidence. You haven't been able to throw anything in anyone's face for as long as you've been on this board.
  4. Harper will be remembered in Alberta, but not as fondly as many would believe. He and his party gave up on the belief base that put them in Ottawa, and as has been said over and over again, he remains in power because there is no one else to vote for. In my opinion, he would NEVER be elected as premier of this province because there are too many of us that think of him as a turncoat. He'll do well on the lecture circuit, but all ex-PM's do.
  5. Alberta as a whole is little like the ROC as a whole. The reverse is also true: we have NDP'ers and Liberals in this province, but not enough to make a difference in the way Alberta votes as a whole. Reform was going nowhere until the PC's self destructed. The worst thing that could happen would be for this party to go federal and split the right wing vote, allowing the Liberals to keep coming up the middle. The only thing keeping the right in power is the lack of an alternative to vote for on the right. As for long memories, you are exactly correct. I loved watching Deb Grey, the political whore, getting heckled and booed from Reformers for turning tail and taking the pension money. Another hog to the trough. I know I am not alone in that I would punish the CPC for that BS, but there is no one else to vote for to keep the Liberals out of power.
  6. Walmart isn't religious. People are religious. I've never seen a box store attend mass. If the manager felt that she should watch you guys (in particular), then there was probably a reason. Maybe not you, but a reason nonetheless. People will steal from large and small stores when they can. The bigger the store, the easier it is because of the sheer size of inventory (who's gonna miss just one?). Why would people steal from Walmart? Because they see it as a viable option to paying for it. Afterall, these are the same people that are working for peanuts so they may not all be the world's "cream of the crop" employees. You weren't a slave at Walmart, so you exercised your option to leave. Good for you.
  7. Why don't you just cite your reputable source and end the argument? If you know where this proof is, you should charge a $1 billion dollar finder's fee to the group taking Walmart to court. That's only 10% of what they'll win with your concrete evidence.
  8. Huh? Less crimes? How exactly do you equate the two? I have my reasons for detesting these groups that exist to extort and protect underachievers, but I do not see how they cause crime. More jobs? Ya, probably. Less crime? Maybe Canada should restrict or cut off immigration from countries supplying criminals (Somolia, the middle east, China). That would help.
  9. Yes, because it would be stupid to declare war on your own country...
  10. To the best of my knowledge, not one single employee of Walmart is a slave. They have not been purchased by the company and have free will to leave. Want better pay? Leave and go somewhere else. Everyone in the majority of tax brackets shops at Walmart sometime. One of my kids wants Call of Duty Modern Warfare II for Christmas. Local game store $74.99. Walmart $45.00. Any guesses where I bought it? I don't tend to buy crap, but when Wally World has the same product I'm going to buy anyway for less, I'll go there. Don't really care to spend an extra $30 to "send a message" to Walmart (the evil bastards!!) As for unions, I'm exceedingly happy that they killed off the store to send a message to the unions. Unionize and we'll make you go away. I just wish Canada would end the charade and proclaim "union busting" as legal since it's done anyway. Take that, you little union whiners.
  11. That may not be a great idea. We saw what happened to the last party we sent to Ottawa - total destruction of it's principles. The WA needs to take over Alberta with a majority and implement the "Firewall letter" from years ago. If they go federal, they'll just turn coattails again in order to get elected. Once outside the provincial border, they cease to represent the ideals that got them elected. Alberta is nothing like the ROC (in general terms) and therefore the same belief systems don't work.
  12. Wildrose currently crushing everyone else: National Post Wildrose Alliance 39% Conservatives 25% Liberals 25% NDP 9% Other 2% There may be two years before the next election, but I think Eddie the Idiot may lose some "party faithful" and some MLA's over this. Great news.
  13. "We" would be Smallc and myself. Look at the post I replied to and try to follow along. It's not that complicated. You would hand out a life sentence for stealing pizza? Wow. Hope you never go buy the university dorms.
  14. Who the hell cares how they lead the rest of their lives? We are talking about people who murdered other people. For that they should die. I'm sure Jeffrey Dahmer would've been a hoot around a poker table. Again, who cares? Steal money.....spend time in jail and then get out to do it again. Rape a three year old girl.....spend time in jail and then get out to do it again. Violently rape, murder and eat a dozen people.....spend time in jail and then get out to do it again. People with attitudes like yours are those that destroy people's faith in a justice system (which is why we don't have one in Canada).
  15. You have just given everyone on this board reason to believe you're stoned. Debate can take place over the NDP in Ontario (as unlikely as a victory could be), but to say that the Federal election could be in favor of the NDP is beyond ridiculous. There are laws against smoking that shit.
  16. So what then is the option for the true conservative voter? There's no one left on the right to vote for. The "left" doesn't stay home during voting time, so if the "right" does, it's all over and we know it. Why should one be careful about anything? The CPC know people like me will vote for them regardless of how far left they move, as long as they are the "most right" choice. You talk as though there are options available that both satify (or nearly satisfy) my political leanings AND keep the Liberals out of power. If you know of such a party, please share.
  17. I agree that this should be worn by Harper. The provinces wouldn't dare without federal (what did you call it?)...oh yeah...BRIBE MONEY. Maybe Iggy should stand on a pedestal and say "I will get rid of the HST!!!". It's worked for the Liberals before......
  18. I have said this for a very long time now: The CPC will move left and will gain from it. Not because it is what the "majority" of Canadians want necessarily, but because those on the "right" will not stay home out of fear of the "left" winning and have no one else to vote for, and those that typically vote Liberal will be given an option they can live with. It's sad but it's true. It's not that the CPC are trying to retain their base, it's that they CAN'T lose them because they're the only game in town.
  19. Tell me about it... This is what is so frustrating. I can't vote to the left of the CPC, but the CPC themselves are far too left for me. Without a credible party to the right (and being raised that it's my duty to vote), I'm left with a voting choice that IS no choice. Plug thy nose and cast thy vote.
  20. Why is it my responsibility to pay for your train ride to Montreal? If you can't afford it, why the hell are you going to Montreal in the first place? The world's knowledge anywhere? Get a job and get a Roger's stick. There. Internet anywhere. You had the kid...you pay for it. Want the kid to receive the best early years development assistance? Pay for it yourself. "Affordable" means your kid will be warehoused while you're at work. Deal with it. Environmentally-friendly, livable cities? Who the hell cares about environmentally-friendly? I live in Canada and I want a warm house to live in, even if I have to burn down an entire old-growth forest to do it. I will vote for whichever party quits throwing my money away in foreign aid to countries that use it to buy arms instead of feeding their people. Whichever party quits spending money on gay parades, or arts festivals, or fountains in Shawinigan. Whichever party pulls their hands a little farther OUT of my pocket. I like "stuffing" my home. I have a 52" and a 57" for tv's in my house. I want a 65" plasma. Or maybe two. I can do that because I WORKED for my money. Pay for your wishes with your money.
  21. Let's see... Canada 1) <police> "Can we come in? We're looking for a missing person.> 2) <you> "No. I don't want you coming in.> 3) <police> "Fine then. We'll be back." 4) <police get search warrant> "Open up. We have a warrant to search the premises.> 5) <you> "You'll hear from my lawyer!> 6) <police search the house and leave> 7) <you talking to press> "They should have no right to search my house. I did nothing wrong! I'm going to sue!" 8) <you talking to judge> "They were aggressive and rude." 9) <judge talking to police department defence lawyer> "I find in favor of the plaintiff in the amount of $50,000." Communist China 1) <police> "Open up. We're looking for a missing person.> 2) <you> "No. I don't want you coming in.> 3) <bang> 4) <police to your new widow> "Open up. We're coming in.> 5) <you're new widow> "No. I don't want you coming in." 6) <bang> 7) <police to your newly-orphaned children> "Move out of the way. We're searching the premises." 8) <total lack of reporting in the press> 9) <government never has to comment, and if they did, they deny it> Yup. See? Same amount of steps, only Canada is unfair.
  22. Do you ACTUALLY believe your own bullshit? 6 hours a week, huh? And we're supposed to be, what, impressed? I've spent significantly more than that at Karate dojo's over the last 10 or so years and let me tell you....point a gun at me and I've got two choices: hand over what you want or draw and drop you. Ki-ai has bugger all to do with the outcome. First of all: Belt colors are a north American thing. True (meaning original form) of martial arts have nothing....absolutely nothing....to do with belt colors. Belts are for keeping your ghi closed. Second: If you are actually from an "asian" country and trained there, you would know the point brought up in the statement above. Third: If you trained for three years and received a black belt designation, you trained in a north American Taekwondo (Korean) dojo. Karate (Japanese) dojo's in Canada (World Karate Federation) require that all black belt applicants be of at least 18 years of age and minimum training is about 10 years. Kung-Fu (Chinese) is about the same. True traditional (asian countries) do not recognize belt levels. Martial arts are no match for a .45 at close range. Bullet trumps reverse punch every time. Basic physics (speed measured in ft/sec). Hand to hand has it's place, but that place is not at the small, hot end of a pistol.
  23. Wow. You make Argus out to sound like someone on welfare. "Want a lot of things without having to lift a finger." - just like a welfare recipient. "you want it basically handed to you" - just like a welfare recipient. "you sound like a lazy, spoiled brat." - just like a welfare recipient. Argus is making a point that because he works, he can afford to hire unskilled labor to do some things for him. And this is wrong why? If it weren't for that type of opportunity, where would these people find work? Oh, that's right. They'd just stay on welfare.
  24. So how is that different from what you assert? How far back would you like to go? You blame the Cons for accelerated parole, and I counter with the beginning of the end of the justice system. Only when I do it, it's The system is screwed up, and in your eyes it's never a Liberal's fault. Impossible you say. Can't happen. Must be a Conservative's fault instead. And when someone (anyone other than a Liberal) tries to propose something to fix it, you make some off-hand statement about how it's Harper's fault...or Mulroney's fault...or the NDP's fault. Who the hell cares? Just fix the damn system and get on with it.
