Some people use lies to prove their point, and knowingly lie to prove their point.

...curious if anyone has been counting; how many mass shootings in the US have there been since I made this comment?

Yes I'll vote for anyone who I feel is qualified. 18, 81, male, female, white, black, so on and so forth. edit I actually did vote for a 18 year old, because he was the only one in the race I could really trust. Myself. Though, I actually seriously debated voting for the sitting MLA as I thought he was doing an alright job.

My money is on Valeriote, but another blogger friend thinks it's an NDP ploy.

HOUSTON...The liberals have a problem

When I was born my father was 40 and my mother was 20 I'm curious if you'd like to make any comments about my parents, or, if you save your comments only for people you'll never have to speak to or with. -
Quebec Election 2012 -Unpredictable
TheNewTeddy replied to August1991's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
The Canada of 2012 is not the Canada of 1995. If the NDP came out in favour of a Referendum if and when it happens (IE, the NDP is not opposed to the idea of a Referendum, nor is it going to force it's members to vote NO) the NDP would not lose nearly as much support as you might suspect. Same is true for the Tories. -

Within 10 years at either the federal or provincial level, the NDP will win this riding. -

Supply and Demand are a pair, they work together to make things happen or stop them from happening. One without the other means that you are not getting your hands on what you want. -

GOOD As a card-carrying Liberal I don't want to share my party with the corrupt.

If the union said these things rather than "WE DESERVE AND DEMAND MORE SHUT UP TEDDY I DONT HAVE TO LISTEN TO YOU LALALALA WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU ARE GOING TO TELL MY BOSS YOU ARE OUT TO GET ME" they might actually have the support to win this thing.

fine... Everything you guys say makes perfect sense. So I guess you are right and I'm wrong. ...still PS. No that's not sarcastic. I'm just grumpy that I'm wrong about something.

Anyone who does not follow the rules of financing should be banned from political office.
-
All government workers should get a permanent wage increase, permanently tied to the rate of inflation, and not a penny more. IMO of course.

That's my point. After Layton died, Conservative after Conservative came out to respect the man. Then Stockwell Day came out and basically said "How can you respect a man who was so socialist?"

I say you are almost right, but miss one more line. Strikers, of any sort, need public support. Somehow that's become forgotten over the last decade.

Quebec Election 2012 -Unpredictable
TheNewTeddy replied to August1991's topic in Provincial Politics in Canada
Oh, I've mentioned my Blog where I make election projections. I'll mention it once, here, and link to it http://riding-by-riding.blogspot.ca/ so that anyone interested can follow. There are also others doing projections that are not me like 308 http://www.threehundredeight.com/ so you have other options. -
If it is a community in BC where English is not spoken, and you are running municipally, then yes, I think you could get elected. So long as you speak the language there. IE if you know Punjabi you are not likely to be elected on a native reserve. Provincially, however, this "rule" is not as insane as it is applying it to municipal governments. The legislature in many provinces, like PEI (I used to live there, so I know for a fact) operates in English alone. Therefore making a rule that you need to know English to run provincially is not out of sorts. However, there is a municipality on PEI called Abrams Village that is the heart of the Franco community. Something like 95% of the residents know French, so if you did not know English, only French, and wanted to run to become mayor of Abrams Village, I say knock yourself out. 86.8% speak French. Looked it up. In the town (250 people) nobody does not know English, according to the 2006 Census, but around the town in Lot 15 http://www12.statcan.gc.ca/census-recensement/2006/dp-pd/prof/92-591/details/page.cfm?Lang=E&Geo1=CSD&Code1=1103026&Geo2=PR&Code2=11&Data=Count&SearchText=lot%2015&SearchType=Begins&SearchPR=01&B1=All&Custom= 30 people know only French. 2/3rds speak French at home. Of those that speak English, half also know French. Are you telling me it is fair In any way tolerable on any level to banish someone from running for democratic office, and thereby banishing people from voting for these persons, because they speak the language of their community and not the language of their province?

Story: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/quebecvotes2012/story/2012/08/21/parti-quebecois-non-french-speakers.html I'm wondering if anyone around here would care to try and defend this as I can not comprehend how it is in line with freedom and democracy to bar a uni-lingual Anglo, running in a uni-lingual Anglo ward of a uni-lingual Anglo municipality from running for municipal office. I'm also wondering how Marois manages to say these things without getting thrown in jail for hate speech.

The future of Israel and Palestine
TheNewTeddy replied to TheNewTeddy's topic in The Rest of the World
The world does not support Israel as a Jewish (only) state. Frankly, most of the world also rejects Islamic states, and rejects Christian states that are larger than a single building. They (most of the world) also rejects the same on race. -
It remains to be seen if Layton, in the long term, will overtake Stanfield, as he has in the short term, as the "Best Prime Minister we never had" Regardless of if they are NDP or PC, the fact is both were able to gain respect from all sides. Many (MANY) Conservatives respect Layton. I'd say that there are less than 1 in 10 Canadians who do not respect Layton due to this political choices. Frankly, if you are one of these 1 in 10, the problem is with YOU.

The reason I hate the left as much as the right is it always is "all about me" and this shows the perfect example of that. If it's not about MY tax dollars, it's about MY wages.
