Respecting the Bible / Ignoring the Bible
TheNewTeddy replied to msj's topic in Moral & Ethical Issues
If there is any book of God's wishes; any book that God himself or those acting on his behalf wrote; IE any book where God is the author, then it MUST be accurate if it is to be followed. Such a book with errors can not be considered the word of God because God does not make mistakes. Hence, any book that you consider the "Word of God" must be without error, or, you are insulting God by claiming he makes errors. Any claim that "Humans wrote the book and they made the errors" is easily wiped away by "Then how do you know what is an error?" Therefore, again, any book with an error, can NOT be the word of God. Now that this is clear, it is very simple really. Any book that IS the word of God must be 100% correct. Every paragraph, every sentence, every word, every letter. If even a single letter is wrong it means that your book is NOT the word of God, but rather, just what YOU think God wants; but not what God actually wants. Considering that every holy book has "unpopular" parts that are not followed, it really just backs up my view on this topic and all related topics: God is not an Author. -
Quebec Election 2012 -Unpredictable

You need to read my blog posts Anyway, it seems that my view that Legault bombed is not shared by the majority, so he may not have lost it all just yet. -
I've been staring back at a post on the "zon" of the Euro for a week now, and while I realize this was a type-o most likely, the fact that it's not been fixed... well it ticks me off. I'm wondering if it would be out of sorts for me to PM people who have these type-os in their thread titles, or, if a mod on regular rounds would be oppose to doing it when it happens?

They will if it brings peace, and, if it happens soon. -

FTR my preference is the following https://maps.google.ca/maps/ms?authuser=0&vps=2&hl=en&ie=UTF8&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=214668381355121949879.00049afec217cdeb22f83 However I think that by the time "peace" is found that Israel will end up looking more like this: https://maps.google.ca/maps/ms?authuser=0&ie=UTF8&hl=en&oe=UTF8&msa=0&msid=214668381355121949879.0004c7ab6e6ba1b0af77a -
The future of Israel and Palestine

Frankly, the price of peace is as low as it's going to get for Israel. The longer the wait, the worse of a deal they will get. They have maybe a decade, at MOST, before things start to really turn around, and when they do, they'll do so quickly. Within 30 years, the 1967 boundaries without one inch deviation will be seen as "Too pro-Israel" to be accepted. -
I went to the McDonalds near the metro station on Longueuil and had a server that spoke no English. It was not a problem however - if both participants in the conversation are willing to put in the effort, you don't need to gesture wildly and scream, you can be understood. The problem is with those Anglo Canadians who refuse to even try French and those Franco Quebecois who refuse to give an Anglo the time of day.

Legault lost the entire election in the debate, now I don't see anyone stopping a PQ Majority. -
I can not "Damage" you in this instance, you can only "Damage" yourself by what you say and how you say it.

Curious what people think will happen with the holy land, regardless of what they think should happen. Some words on the options. What solution 1 - This is what most people presume when talking about peace nowadays. 2 - This is, in effect, what we have now. It means, in short, no "peace" and Israel continues on as-is. 3 - This is the worst case scenario for Israel, in short, their defeat. 4 - This is a one-state created peacefully, with "cantons" perhaps where some are Jewish and others Islamic. Many similar options can fit in here. 5 - Jordan and Egypt re-annex their portions of Gaza and the WB and "Palestine" never gets to see the light of day. 6 - Similar to option 4. The land is split into a Jewish state, an Islamic state, and a 3rd state shared by both. 7 - Israel loses a war to someone not interested in Palestine and they occupy both nations. How it comes about 1 - War. Obvious, Israel goes to war and one of the above solutions is the peace treaty. 2 - Nations like the US or the Saudis put extreme pressure to get a solution NOW and Israel/Palestine is forced to oblige 3 - Both sides come to the table on their own and work out a deal 4 - Think the recent "Great recession" but far worse, changing the dynamic, and forcing peace on both parties. 2070 1 - Israel becomes the clear winner, having gotten what they want today and more. 2 - Palestine becomes the winner with people wondering why Israel did not sue for peace when the price was a bargain. 3 - Neither side "wins" / both sides "lose" / The populace of both "sides" win / etc

Assange not so big on justice when he's the object
TheNewTeddy replied to a topic in The Rest of the World
The UK would not go though this much effort to get him if it was not political in nature, it's just that simple. What is shocking is the number of countries that are keen on arresting him. -
The statement that Garneau is a bad politician like Dryden hits the nail on the head.

Cross border shopping is a cultural event for many Canadians. The milk industry, however powerful, could not combat that. Canadians would be up in arms if there were attempts to combat cross border shopping. They'd then vote for whatever opportunist party promises the best cross border shopping. Keep in mind that Vancouver is right on the border. Toronto is 2 hours away from Buffalo. Montreal 2 from Burlington VT. A majority of Canadians, weather they chose to cross border shop or not, have the option to, and don't want that taken away.

Michigan Cop visiting Calgary - what a world view!
TheNewTeddy replied to msj's topic in Canada / United States Relations
I don't see what's wrong with that. You can always arm yourself with a knife if you are that paranoid. If you are paranoid walking around in what polls show is one of the most friendliest nations in the world without your weaponry attached, then yes, you are a paranoid psychopath. -
Frankly, I'm tempted to contact the school board and let them know that someone claiming to be a teacher is saying these ridiculous things.

Are you implying that anyone who is not a socialist does not "know anything"?

I've heard that on a number of recent occasions Israeli troops have crossed the border to get at troublesome elements without a peep, officially, from Egypt. I think the "wink and nod" theory makes sense and that both sides are committed on this - which again from where I stand backs up my point, as the way I see it, Morsi is working closer with Israel than the former government. -

The rape charges are clearly falsified just to allow the US to either directly or by proxy get their hands on him. -

The PQ vote has been stable for quite a while, but every poll, another point bleeds from the PLQ to the CAQ At this rate, we are looking at a CAQ majority. -

I've seen tags at the end of TV shows, grants from the feds or various provinces, and these I support. It's the idea that some random idiot on the street who thinks lying in the nude covered with rotting meat products in the hot sun is somehow getting tax dollars that makes me ill. -
LOL!!! The only thing funnier than "Garneau 4 Leader" is Garneau as leader!! ---- Trudeau will run and win, but who else will do well, that is a good question. I honestly think Brison can run and do very very well. Brison, depending on who else runs, could finish second. If so, Trudeau could make him the Deputy and give him charge over money issues, signalling a move to the centre. I don't think any others from the Atlantic could do well. Heading in from the west, I'm also drawing blanks. Nenshi could actually win if he runs but he will not run. Ontario has a lot of people who could be interesting. If David McGunity gets his brother's backing it could make things fun, but I don't see that. I'm wondering of Sorbara really wants to go home or wants to run federally. Bennett might be an interesting candidate. McCallum too. Frankly, all the really interesting names are from Montreal. Coderre, Cauchon, Cotler, Garneau, Trudeau, maybe even a "so I wasn't so bad after all" Dion2 run.

The TTC is getting bendy buses again. 60 footers with the slinky in the middle. I can get links if need be, but LSS, it's a good thing.

Pussy. My response would have been -
There is lots of "empty land" between Bellingham and Vancouver. Why not build a new Costco there? There are examples on the border of NC and SC in the US of gas stations setting up on one side of the border for customers on the other due to taxes. Here in Toronto, where you have a municipal boundary (like Steeles Avenue) you often have residential buildings on one side and shoppes on the other, again, due to taxes. So why not an entire "Canadian Shopping Centre" right on the border?
