  1. I have no problem with private funding of Catholic Schools! Let Catholics fund our own! Actually, if it's one good way to keep interference with the way we practice our belief......I'm all for it! Those who cannot abide with the Catholic doctrines and respect our religious beliefs should stay out of the Catholic schools! ....AND CHURCH! That goes for perverted priests (whether they be sodomists and/or pedophiles...or both).....including those women fighting to be ordained as priests....who are challenging and wanting to change the Church and its teachings. They are always free to establish their own religion...free to do with whatever distortion, contortion and interpretation to their hearts' content!
  2. There had been clashes between parents and school boards in Hamilton and BC regarding the curriculum. It's been in some news not too long ago. Then there's the parent who saw the kind of reading materials her grade school children were told to read....the subject was about same-sex couples. I heard this on the CBC hourly news radio program sometime this year. It was just a short clip. There are controversies happening that somehow don't get played prominently on mainstream media....and if they ever make it to the news, they seemed to be "down-played" considerably. They don't get the same massive exposure like say...Dawson shooting, when special interest groups like the anti-gun lobby groups or pro-gun registry liberal thinkers have something to gain.
  3. Challenging a CATHOLIC SCHOOL to let a gay bring his partner to the prom is an imposition! The nerve! I would just like to see him try that to a Muslim School!
  4. Well I think even the middle-class is getting poor! They're slowly getting squeezed out...to fall under the bracket of "poor". Money don't grow on trees, you know. Who do you think ends up paying for all social programs? Including monstrous boondagles? We ain't seen nothing yet! Wait til the Libreals or the NDP gets in and universal daycares gets into place. Drug Shooting galleries filling up every cities....more money on the segment that not only hardly produce ...but also contribute to a lot of crimes that we need to spend more money on to control! And if the NDP will have it their way...all corporate "evils" will go through the grinding mill...and we lose investors and creators of jobs to third world countries! Who picks up the tab for all of these? They surely don't come from the pockets of the Liberals or the NDP!
  5. Btw, how many $$$ are these so-called "guilt" worth?
  6. When we talk of guilt...along the lines of what Margrace wants us to feel....all these whiners about the residential schools only end up looking SHALLOW and SELF-MOTIVATED.....when the world right now is faced with so much tragedy! If you want to keep your undivided attention to your clan or whatever...you need not look beyond your own reserves! WHAT ABOUT YOUR CHILDREN THAT ARE DYING NOW INSIDE YOUR RESERVES? The residential tragedies you keep sobbing about happened in the past! If you truly care at all about them...then show that you had learned lessons from it! DEAL WITH THE PROBLEMS OF YOUR CHILDREN....happening RIGHT NOW! You've got a voice now. Use it! Then your seeming sorrows about what had happened in the past wouldn't look so phoney!
  7. I'm lost with your comments here..... But then, since you've mentioned the bible... ...what about some Islam beliefs based on their Koran....the passages that the extremists are clinging to in their justification of terrorist acts? Quit being the typical Liberal that loops a never ending circle that makes no sense in an effort to muddle up the discussion....a typical tactics of spinners when faced with a question that they don't want to answer! STICK TO THE QUESTION directly relating to your accusation and argument! Should ALL MUSLIMS feel guilty then? ARE ALL MUSLIMS guilty then for all the terrorist acts done in the name of Allah?
  8. You keep on heaping guilt and blame...and yet, for what is practically along the same lines of what you want us to feel...you don't want to answer a straitforward question. Are ALL MUSLIMS responsible for all the terrorists' acts in the name of Allah? Stop being SELECTIVE with your guilt-heaping! It shows the double-standard!
  9. It IS the issue of marriage itself! THEY wanted to change the DEFINITION! I have always agreed that THEY should be allowed to have their own definition of a union...with all the protection and benefits of any married couples. The outrage is not about whether they can openly and legally shack up together in a union.....the outrage is about the changing of the definition of marriage!
  10. What is anti-semitic and anti-woman of the Catholic church? I'm not familiar with the Church's policies towards women, aside from non-eligibility for priesthood, and requirement of priestly celibacy. Speaking as a Jew, I have no complaints about Church policy, since the elevation of Archibishop Rancalli to the papacy as Pope John. In fact, it's only gotten better, though the jury is still out on Pope Benedict. I have never been doctrined or taught anything against the Jews, but I must admit that I do not know much about the previous Popes. As for being anti-woman, the Catholic religion had placed so much emphasis on Mother Mary...and all other women saints. The Philippines, which is predominantly Catholic...is one of the few Asian countries that elevates the status of females. Traditional courtships and marriage have the men giving the "dowry" and performing tasks. The man traditionally shoulders ALL EXPENSES of marriage. It is even joked about that women actually rule the households! And this country is steeped in Catholicism.
  11. What is anti-semitic and anti-woman of the Catholic church?
  12. Now they've done it! The muslim fundamentalist western-haters had just made a major blunder. You don't tangle with pet and animal rights activists!
  13. The public sphere doesn't need The Magic Sky Pixie's version of morality. Who says so? The "magic sky pixie's" version of morality had always been the foundation of this country's values....if I'm not mistaken. Perhaps the social ills and problems we see burgeoning now is the result of the decay of our moral fabric....
  14. Good! I hope the Catholic leaders who had anything to do with those legislations are feeling the sting.
  15. I think if police weren't spending their time on traffiking or minor possession offences, they could devote more time to property crime or what have you. maybe not much on minor possesion....but definitely big-time on the trafficking. Children are becoming the targets of pushers. Lesser addicts would definitely mean lesser property crimes....not to mention other crimes.
  16. I do not even know a single Canadian who even knows what the Kyoto plan actually involves! Hands up anybody out there who knows anything about the Kyoto deal???? I don't know much about it.
  17. And as anyone will tell you, there's no drug problem in Thailand. I would bet it's far, far less than we have here.
  18. Already, they're talking of homeless addicts who do not want to use shelters simply because they are not allowed to bring in their drugs. An interviewed druggie said that being on the streets could only have them ending up doing crime. It doesn't take too much imagination to know what will be next. Somebody will scream: these addicts need to be off the streets! It will reduce crime! We need to give them a safe house to freely practice their illegal activities and a place to live in! Btw, what happens if a druggy happens to die in one of these sites? "COMPENSATION"-time, folks!
  19. Unless you're a libertarian who doesn't believe in taxes or government at all, that's not an argument worth making. If you accept the role of government, you're going to have to accept that your tax dollars might end up funding something you don't agree with, whether it's SIRs for you or religious education for me. So, they are government-sponsored shooting galleries!
  20. Do we even need to be told to have an idea? Besides, the cost they tell you now is not the real cost! You can be sure of that. Ala-gun registry! Deja vu...all over again...drat, we never learn after all these redundancies!
  21. Again: it's not a zero-sum game and, frankly, youre "fear of god" meets "just say no" aproach has been the de facto status quo for a long time. It's pretty safe to say it's been a failure. I would think the decay of values and morality has far more to do why the "fear of god" meets "just say no" had not been effective. I had been lectured thoroughly by my parents about the horrors of drugs...vividly explained! The consequences of drugs really scared me that no one....not even my boyfriend...could pressure me to smoke pot! He had to apologise for me whenever we went to parties where other youths were passing the joint. It worked on me....I'm sure that approach had worked on others too!
  22. It is almost impossible to eliminate the whole drug problem. There are far more effective ways to spend the money than just throwing it on SIRs.
  23. But we are footing the bill! Why don't those ardent supporters of these sites personally finance them ALL THE WAY THROUGH?l
  24. How many will actually use the SIRs? What's the guarantee that those who use the SIRs do not shoot up anywhere else too? Will a druggie desperate for a fix bother to go in? Just think....if women risk unwanted pregnancies by going ahead without contraceptives, what more with an addict who's dying for a fix? SIRs does not necessarily mean they will not end up in my backyard! So why waste money on it?
