  1. Well, it may sound cold-hearted, but looking at it from a practical and realistical point of view....Canada should not spend too much effort in those who are already neck-deep in it. Instead, focus on those who are not yet victimized....the future would-be victims...who are highly impressionable: the youth. If there's a hole in the dam, there's no point in trying to scoop out the water that's already in. We start with plugging that hole! Then....we worry what to do with the water that's already in.
  2. If it is a dud, why have the Conservatives kept it going? A lady representing Conservatives (the Sunday before last on Question Period) said it is "being reviewed." Anyway...all political parties will do what they think they have to do. Unfortunately, appeasement is almost, always part of the equation now whenever a leader makes any decisions. And opportunism is just part of the arsenal of any political parties trying to push their agenda. Anyway, will you explain how providing "safe-injection sites" is supposed to be a SOLUTION TO DRUG ADDICTION?
  3. Sometime last year I've heard on the news of a different kind of program one Asian province had been using to prevent the spread of AIDS. I can't recall the name of the country though. The school children are taken on field trips....to a different kind of museum. This museum is all about AIDS. Apparently it really delivered all the nitty-gritty....right to a mummified remains of an AIDS victim. This province (once dealing with an alarming high rate of AIDS-related disease) had been boasting of the steadily declining rate of the disease...and they are attributing the success to this field trips. I don't know about the mummified remains....but I think, having a gruesome museum dedicated to drug abuse and AIDS that really gives all the gruesome visuals will have a more searing impact on the youth. This will de-glamorize this kind of lifestyle.....and show plain, stark-naked reality. What do you think?
  4. Never said there was anything wrong with law enforcement. Thought you believed rehab was a waste of money as well so that's why I was asking. No, I didn't say rehab is a waste of money. Safe-injection sites are the duds! If we are to spend more money, I'd rather focus on prevention....than throw the money on those duds.
  5. Christina Aguilera had just finished promoting this new look ala-Marilyn....so expect a flurry of blonde wannabes. Now, I've been into those historical romances...and I'm telling you, the heroines are mostly red-heads! And from what I have read....true reds are becoming quite rare. Can we afford not to be blonde? I sure think so. Besides, practically everything about a person nowadays can be artificially enhanced, changed, diminished, lifted, colored, implanted, lasered etc.., So if one feel she's got to be blonde....then just go for it.
  6. For drug addiction. You think it is strictly a law enforcement issue? These drugs are illegal! So, there is nothing wrong with law enforcement....if we want to enforce the law! Well we do have rehab programs, don't we? There is already support in place for those who are already addicted. And there is ample information. The anti-drugs and AIDS campaign already going at it back-to-back! So it cannot be said that it is STRICTLY law enforcement only! I would like to see more effort in dis-couraging kids from EVEN TRYING drugs! Toughen up the FIRST offense! Scare the pants off those children!
  7. So what do you think the Conservatives will propose as a solution aside from closing the site after this year? What would be your solution? Solution to what?
  8. That is not what I asked. I asked, should ALL MUSLIMS feel guilty over all terrorist acts done by terrorists in the name of Allah? I am not ignoring the problem by asking this. I am showing the rationale you're giving. You seem to be deflecting my question. So, should they feel guilty or not?
  9. I don't think anyone is denying that some unfortunate atrocities did happened in residential schools.... and orphanages....and all other establishments where power and authority can easily be abused. We cannot do anything about the past. BUT WE CAN DO SOMETHING ABOUT WHAT"S HAPPENING NOW. It is easy to lecture of not seeing...and yet, those who do claim to "see" are guilty of "selective see-ing". What is the criteria to be "seen?"....so liberal-minded folks will scream bloody hell and "fight" for your cause? There are a lot happening right NOW that needs your sympathy....and most importantly there is still time to RECTIFY the problem! Since we're talking of babies....let's look no farther than the different standard of childcare the native children are getting! Heard about the child that was ripped from her foster parent simply because the foster folks are non-natives? They gave the child back to its mother....who ended up TORTURING AND KILLING her! And this happened inside the reserve of only a a population of a few thousand. The baby had been "missing" for months...and NOT EVEN ONE in that reserve even knew where that baby was! It was through the relentlessness of the foster mother, who kept pestering the agency that nobody gave up on this baby! Too bad, too late...she's been murdered! And this was not the only case! I HAVE BROUGHT THIS UP SEVERAL TIMES ON DIFFERENT THREADS! Where are the bleeding hearts? How come no one even gave a weak bleat about it? It's because of SELECTIVE SEE-ING! Some people "see" conveniently on something that....selfishly....further or give support to their OWN AGENDA. So stop beating your chest with guilt over things that happened years ago! We have more pressing problems that need attention right NOW!
  10. Hear, hear! That is a true definition of compassion at work. However, it requires courage and strength on the part of the intervenor. The government should come up with a program...especially aimed at the youth. Like the experience that I've recounted above, the couple approached the system for help, however the rules for the assistance indicated that the child has to come in voluntarily. HOW CAN YOU EXPECT A MINOR....IN THE GRIP OF DRUGS AT THAT.....to come to his senses and say: I want to clean up my act! Minors should be forcibly taken if the parents need intervention and assistance. Minors must be forced into rehabs! And make it so that the mere thought of possible rehab will strike fear into any child...that it will really play into the equation when he/she ponders whether to give drugs a try or not. Those that are already entrenched in it, unfortunately...a lot of them will never be able to kick off the habit! That means it is going to be a continuous effort and spending just to support their drug-use....a perpetual mess-cleaning. Why not get to the root of the mess instead? We may not be able to eliminate drugs at all, but surely we can do something to combat its magnetism that attracts our kids to it! Our money and effort should be concentrated in PREVENTION. Think of the youth....the future drug-users! And those that can still be saved. Youth has the resilience...so there is still hope for those already using the drugs. I say, spend the money in crack-down...NOT crack-up!
  11. It is part of a fashion fad. A way of thinking promoted by....who else? Hollywood! According to them, "blondes have more fun!" Just ask Marilyn and the other va-va-voom starlets of yesteryears. Lately, I've seen a lot of young girls who are normally blonde or brown-haired with black hair! One of my pre-teen girls pointed at one of my moms and asked " is she Goth?" Huh? What is goth? And this kid explained to me. Somebody else said..."she looks like someone from the Matrix" So it's just one of those things. I don't think it has anything to do with racism and all that.
  12. I had been touched by drugs! I had lived in a house in Canada where their teenage son was in drugs! I don't know what kind of drugs thoug...but it couldn't be just the ordinary marijuana. BTW, the parents were smoking it "recreationally". It got so scary that I moved out fast! That place was "borken into"....an inside job (the suspicion fell on this son). Some of my heirloom jewelries (antiques and with real gems) were part of the things that were stolen. Luckily, they missed some that were mixed with the retro trinkets that were obviously faux pas. I do not dare get up in the middle of the night to go to the washroom, because you could never tell if the person you encounter in the hallwayis a real intruder...or one of the many druggy friends that come and go in that house in the middle of the night. The walls in the basement were deeply slashed by knives....like someone going in a frenzy! The druggy kid hang out in the basement! The man's ex-wife (mother of the kid) was broken into and things were stolen. It was the kid. You can't leave anything of even remote value. If it can be sold...it can easily disappear. It's surprising their tv and vcr lasted long without being stolen....but then, the kid was using them! The couple don't know what to do! The kid already violently fought back with the dad! They wanted him "committed" since they cannot handle him.....but, apparently the kid has to come in voluntarily and want to be helped. I could not help but think that this couple somehow contributed to this situation. The woman had told me that the kid (as a child) once saw them smoking marijuana. If you have a child...why would you bring these into your own home? It may not be addicting....but it is the impression and message that is being given to the child that is detrimental. It is like an introduction.... The families living with someone on drugs are going through hell! That's why it's so laughable that someone suggested the effects of drugs being shown on tv is just plain rubbish! Anyway, I don't see how this injection sites are going to help the families! It might only encouraged those other kids ALREADY LIVING WITH ADDICTS...to go on right ahead....anyway, society is right there behind you...supportive every step of the way!
  13. And it was dismissed indeed. It became a joke! Really, why would outright "execution" be mentioned other than to twist the logic behind what the poster was saying. And to bring out "ovens" in comparison to Nazi gas chambers? If there is any comparison to be made at all with those dreaded ovens....those disgusting "safe injection" sites really fit the bill! The Jews were lied into thinking they were just going to have a shower to rid themselves of lice and other vermins. Just like these brain-fried addicts AND THE SUPPORTING PUBLIC are being lied into thinking this is for the good of our society!
  14. Whoa! I don't see any self-centeredness in not wallowing in any guilt-feelings when there is nothing to feel guilty about. We have to put things in proper perspectives. BUT DEFINITELY, there is something psychologically wrong in having an obsession about, and wanting to carry all the guilt over crimes and wrong-doings perpetuated by others. As someone stated in one of the posts...we should be learning lessons from the past! Which is true...since we cannot do something to change what had already happened....not until someone comes up with the time machine. If we're going to embark on any collective guilt-tripping party as a society...let's at least choose something that's happening NOW! AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT! Think of genocidal maniacs trying to exterminate people because of their race or beliefs. And speaking of prayers, I thought religion is supposed to be the one thick on the "guilt-traps."
  15. Well, I just assumed you were entertaining...not that there is anything wrong if you were. So it was a discussion group. Anyway, let's get back to your statement about your accusations towards your parents about the holocaust. I am assuming that like us, they are not involved in anything related to the slaughtering of Jews. I find it odd that you would readily condemn us all...that we should feel any guilt...over what had happened in the past. If I try to follow your rationale over this guilt-trip, are you then also saying ALL MUSLIMS should feel guilty for all the terrorisms that had been perpetuated in the name of Allah?
  16. Why, can't one not change one's decision if one sees that things had changed? Does a commander not change his strategies in the middle of a war...just because he already committed himself by saying he would do it that way? Should a leader still stubbornly push through if he sees that it will be wiser and more pracrtical to do things differently? As you said in the post above, the war is not doing very well. The message has changed. Well, what's wrong about that? It only tells me that he is truly practicing sound leadership by using his common sense. We don't even have to look far into foreign affairs to see the cost we bear due to the conceited folly of previous leaders! Just look at the Liberals! Look at all the money wasted on social programs that did not work out the way they're meant to, costing far more than they were supposed to....and yet, those leaders stubbornly kept them going!
  17. depends. Smokers of regular cigarettes....depends on their genes....some will catch cancer just like one catches a regular cold. While others manage to reach their eighties or more! But with drug addicts such as crack or heroin, I'd say it can take pretty fast to kick the bucket. The beauty of it is that, apparently, they have full control of the situation...so therefore it can take as long they'd want to last. That is if we believe the rubbish some would like you to believe that the brains don't get fried by these drugs. Anyway, from what I'd seen in the movies....3 whole big tablespoons should do it for heroin, and crack as big as a whopper should be enough.
  18. But then we're back into the messy part..... Besides, who provide the home ovens? Golly, I don't wanna use the oven we use for regular home-cooking! So that's another expense to shell out....giving every home druggie-oven-kits? Does it come with an electric chopper/food processor...or a very sharp cleaver? Gee, one thing for certain, they do seem to be typical Liberal-funded programs...expenses soaring out of control!
  19. Big ovens? What? We need to shell out more dough building those? Then we'll have problems with environmentalists to boot...once they start complaining about all them smokes! Much cheaper by the drugs! AND they die blissfully happy! Unless, if they were having a bad trip....what a bummer to pick a fine time to die.
  20. Why not hasten that by executing addicts on sight? Too messy. Besides, if you're a druggy...wouldn't you rather die "high?" More humane that way.
  21. Apparently according to one poster here, some sites have been providing the drugs too. What I'd like to know is if the providers get it on whole-sale price...and from where? Do they raid the "evidence room" and confiscated drugs of every precinct? Are they top notch drugs quality-wise? You know, we want only the best for our kids!
  22. Yeah. I missed that part about the doctor's note. Why would the mother resist in getting a note, if that's all that's needed? I do not agree with her. If she wouldn't let her son go to school unless the school bends to her will, well then...keep your bloody son at home and home-school him! Wheelchair-bound or not, rules are rules!
  23. Btw Margrace, how sure is your cousin that he was not talking to a cuckoo?? I guess it was a good conversation piece around the dinner table when you're entertaining....but I hope someone in your group at least questioned the mental condition of this woman....or had questioned its intended effect as another one of those "sob stories." The woman was crying...the babies were crying... hey, it could've happened, don't get me wrong. But before you all jump pronto in the guilt wagon and start bawling your eyes out....you know what I mean.
  24. It is an odd society we live in. I didn't know this issue has to go in front of a tribunal. After all, they have allowed daggers to be carried to schools...and here is this boy who literally depends on this dog, and yet denied.
