What sin is to me, "irresponsible acts or intolerance-of-all-kinds" is to you. What heaven is to me, "quality of life" is to you. What save the soul is to me, save the world is to you. What salvation is to me, welfare and social assistance is to you. What spreading the word is to me, legislation is to you. What Jesus is to me, the almighty dollar is to you....or whatever it is you favor at the moment. If you really look HONESTLY into what some of you guys are saying....and to what some of you are advocating and trying to impose on society (the different bannings you try to come up with in our everyday lives)....and to what extent some actions you may take, from your tree-huggers, to your veggie munchers, to your GreenPeace, to your incense, your human-shield volunteers (who probably inspired the human-shield factor now being done in the Middle East), and the list goes on.... ...you are also neck-deep in fanaticism! You are fanatics!

Don't get me wrong...I am not denying that Christians have their share of religious extremists...."wing-nuts". But what I'm doing is making you guys see how FAIR and LOGICAL your reactions are when you are faced with two types of religious order with two different....and practically OPPOSING doctrines! If you are speaking openly as liberal-thinkers...then I guess there's no longer any arguments there. That's your liberal views. But do not pretend to make your views seem objective...or try to pass your evaluations and judgments to be without severe bias and prejudice! .

That's kind of a stretch, don't you think so? I wouldn't compare burning witches at the stake to telling Muslims to stop supporting hatred and advocating death to non-believers....and to make their radicals to stop from making themselve martyrs by blowing up innocent people. For one, there's no muslim being imprisoned for attending mosque service....and second,this reaction is due to a norm called, self-preservation! BUT I would compare Burning Witches a few centuries ago to the kind of agenda some lefties would want to impose: banning second-hand smoke from homes. This opens up the way to a full witch-hunt galore! I could see it now, a child mistakenly state ,"my dad smokes at home" or specially trained cigarette smoke-sniffing dogs, AND sniffing neighbors make some accusations ...and the inquisitors swoop down in full force. So okay you've had your say about Christians. What I'm interested to hear is what you have got to say about them Muslim suicide bombers! Anything derogatory at all? None whatsoever?

I know a man who tried to study different religions because he is "looking for the truth." He was a confused Christian...that his faith was on rocky grounds is probably an understatement. he read different books on different religions, and different theories by atheists. The last I heard of him, he was seeing a psychologist. I, myself, do not fully understand my own religion. I guess you could say it had been "programmed" or "bred" into me. I have no problem with it...I'm happy with it. But then again, I know a lot of kids who go to McDonald's...because their parents take them to McDonald's....because their grandparents had taken their parents to McDonald's. So a lifestyle is bred into them. Their taste for a kind of life had been "programmed"...it's like brainwashing, but on a lesser extent. Was that right?

Thats true. Proselytizing is annoying for alot of people no matter what the religion is. But nonetheless this is not forcing beliefs on people. Its just promoting them. Would you say campaign ads are forcing political ideas on people. Or those commercial ads! I wonder how many among those who'd railed against "brainwashing"...or "programming" children will max their credit cards this year buying the latest craze demanded by their children....because they were advertised on tv!

I've read critiques of this book of Mark Steyn, and the thing is: I noticed all the negative name-calling critics have nothing constructive to say. Not surprising considering they're coming from the lips of liberals.

I've had strangers knocking on my door, handing me leaflets (Jehovah's Witness). It could be annoying and an inconvenience for some to be bothered answering the door...however, for some of the comments I've read from that link ("I would slap her face, etc...)...I think those reactions or statements are way too extreme when a polite "no, thanks." would've sufficed. Again, I can't help but compare the reactions of those who would bash and criticise the girl (and her "trainers") for just giving what you might say is a "sales pitch", which is quite harmless really (even if you think it is fanatism)... ...But, I've yet to hear some of you who had openly ridiculed and openly criticized this girl with contempt, do the same thing to those religious fanatics who strap bombs on themselves and blow up innocent people. Can you please explain why your reactions towards this girl is different from those fanatics who deliberately kill?

Maybe it's healthy because, as you said, the parents don't expose the child to their smoke. Put two and two together, Betsy. It helps your argument in the long run. Yes, but they did it of their own accord. There was no legislation that made them do it. Majority of parents do care for their kids. And majority do try their best to be responsible parents. I would think that those who would wilfully jeopardize their childrens' health are the ones who are most likely to be abusive and neglectful as parents anyway...and there are already laws in place for such situations. So why penalize the majority and tamper with our rights?

While this Christian Pro-Western Minister was being assassinated....Kofi Annan was endorsing getting Iran and Syria to help in Iraq! The wolf and the fox...together....in the chicken house! It is quite frightening when you really think about it....the way liberals see things! Frightening, because majority of the people are liberal thinkers...and God only knows what they'll want to do if ever we are seriously threatened right on our doorstep. I guess to them, giving in is a really serious option! It's like being Alice down the rabbit hole....or the twilight zone.

I've got a 2 year-old kid who's been having some chronic coughs. Both parents are non-smokers. But he's not given milk (they believe it's not good for him)... yes they've got pets....last summer he broke out in hives (because they bathe him with a soap based with tea-tree oil). Allergies been ruled out. he's got asthma. No, they don't believe in puffers. Fortunately, he's not coughing as much now...probably growing out of it. So who knows what induced it! Then I've got a baby whose parents are both smokers. Both parents smell heavily of cigarette smoke....but surprisingly, the baby does not smell at all! I wouldn't even suspect he came from a smoking household just by smelling him. So it tells me, the parents do not expose their child to their smoke. The baby's healthy. No asthma here or any respiratory illness! But I challenged the dad though when twice in a row, he gave in to his son's protests and took him out without putting his coat on. I asked: what will you do in the winter? From what I've seen and experienced with the tons of parents that I've dealt with over the years...there's one thing I've noticed: most of them are too lax and do not insist that their kids button up during the cold weather! They think it's okay to run from my front door to the car in the driveway without a coat on! I HAVE TO PUT MY FOOT DOWN because I know how colds can easily be spread around in a daycare! Yes, asthma and other chronic illness is on the rise...but don't tell me that it's ALL DUE TO SECOND-HAND SMOKE ALONE. So those of you who insists on legislation....citing the childrens' health as an excuse.....do a thorough job of it! Don't just legislate one, and leave the others to continue! It pokes hole in your credibility...and it actually seem like a farce, when you just want to target cigarette smoking...and yet you are all mum about hot dogs and pizza, and other irresponsible and stupid acts parents do! Pizza and hotdogs.... which I guess are the most convenient fare for working couples to put in front of their children at dinner time...no wonder nobody wants to say anything about legislating those! Heck, even schools have a pizza day and hot dog day! Go figure! And we all worry about obesity and heart diseases! Shame on this hypocrisy!

And to be honest, your method to resort to insults and personal attacks....everytime you are unable to support your own views....is quite tiring already. Although it is understandable for some heated arguments to get out of control and resort to personal attacks or name-calling every now and then....yours, is a CONTINUOUS effort at insults and labelling, that follows and transcends to other threads...particularly labelled to a handful of posters whom you are decidedly bent on labelling. This is not just flaming....or harrassment. This is character assasination. I have admired Mapleleaf Forum because it stands out among the other political forums for the simple reason that it appears to be a forum for educated and mature people. Do not take it out on us if you fail to defend your stance....nor should you be hard on yourself. Some arguments just happen to be so logical....that to stubbornly try to refute them...only makes one feel pathetically stupid. Resorting to juvenile behaviour is not the right way to go, however. If I remember it right, they also disagreed with the way Chretien "cozied" it up with China over Trade...saying Chretien did not push for human rights issue! You never win, either way! So Harper should just do it his own way!
