From Power and Politics, latest poll from Ekos show Conservatives have 7 points lead. Apparently Harper is getting solid support from Ontario.

Stockwell Day to leave Federal Politics
betsy replied to William Ashley's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
From what I understand Stockwell Day is a Pro-Life activist. Perhaps he'll devote his time to this. Being out of politics, he need not walk on eggshells anymore. -
Chuck Strahl to leave Federal Politics
betsy replied to William Ashley's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
If he's still battling cancer, perhaps it's for the best that he leaves federal politics....what with an election looming, as I understand it's a very stressful, not to say taxing event with all the campaigning to do. I wish him well. -
Then why bring up Christians as a rebuttal? You know that by just sheer statistics alone....your response is....irrelevant, and that's me trying to be polite, trying hard not to follow your lead by resorting to juvenile name-callings. Why sass me when I'm only responding and pointing out the....absurdness....of your rebutt! So I take it you 're not happy with my explanation? And I explained to you why you cannot compare the two. The motives of the two radical groups are poles apart. In fact they turn to opposite directions. Whereas the Christian radicals - be it terrorism or not - are killing to defend, to save lives....Muslim radicals, on the other hand, are killing for the sake of killing, to exterminate. I'm glad to hear that.

If I'm not mistaken he was - or still is - battling cancer? -
For the record, I do not support these murders. As pointed out somewhere by another poster, how many radical Christians kill abortionists compared to the numbers of radical Muslims gungho on blowing themselves up? Are you saying all Christians are terrorists? Furthermore, your analogy falls apart since the handful of radical Christians defended the babies. Radical Muslims are killing the innocents....and that includes the babies! Hitler, radical Muslims and the abortionists are all on the same boat, as a matter of fact! They're all killers of innocents. Let's talk....MOTIVE. And what is the motive why these radical Christians are doing such things? Isn't it because helpless, innocent babies are being butchered? Could it be out of frustration...and desperation... not only because a somnambulant society continue to look the other way and let these baby-killings go on, but also sanctioned such barbaric acts? Anyway, you see a serial murderer going on killing one victim after another....you just stand there without doing anything? To be honest, I don't know what I could do if I were in the same room watching someone tearing a baby apart. When Hitler and the nazis were slaughtering Jews, and the western world remained unconcerned, resistance groups were formed. Canada (recently apologised) for having sent back a shipload of Jews to Europe....most of whom ended up getting killed! Then years later (and millions of slaughtered Jews later)....this same civilized society ask: How could we have let it happened? Resistance fighters fought to defend those who cannot defend themselves. M O T I V E. You cannot compare these two groups of radicals.

At least the USA is waking up and seems to be taking some steps. http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2011-03-09-muslim-congressional-hearings-poll_N.htm Hopefully, Canada will follow. The radicalization of Muslim youths have to be addressed....sooner or later. We can't keep pretending it's not happening.

http://politifi.com/news/WifeBeheading-Muslim-TV-Executive-Found-Guilty-In-Buffalo-1719790.html I'm not familiar with the Koran. Is there anything significant about "beheading," seeing that this practice seems to be the most preferred act?

Jonsa, the answer to your unsuccessful quest for understanding lies on the statements you've made, which I highlighted. You cannot possibly open your heart to something you consider as "mythology." What more, how can you possibly "acquire faith" on something you mock and scoff at as mythology? So all these many, many years....you were just going through the motion. If one wants to understand something so important - and it must be that important to you since you've spent 40 years of your life seeking to understand - isn't the logical approach to finding knowledge and understanding be that you approach it with at least, an open mind? You have to get over that barrier. That which you said is the "suspension of reality." Treat it as you would....psychology. And your statement below clearly suggests that indeed, you only went through the motion of "seeking".....but understood nothing. Perhaps you wonder why I came back to you about this. Again, I came across a passage in the Bible that made me think of you. In the Bible Study interpretation: Wisdom means wise behaviour, good sense. Understanding means the capability to distinguish between true and false, good and bad, what matters most and what does not matter at all. Knowledge means apprehension of reality, including an experiential knowledge of God. The Simple are naive young people open to any influence. The wise as well as the untaught can learn from this book. Fools or the morally dull.

That's because they cannot reason with reason. They tend to throw everything but the kitchen sink - skirt and wander around everywhere but never tackle the real argument. In the abortion issue, they can't. There is no excuse. And they know it. Their support for abortion is fueled by their abhorrence for religion - that is the real issue for a lot of secularists/liberalists/atheists. And it is the same Communist climate - Godless. That's why the Feminists Movement is so cunning in painting religion/Catholic Church as the "villain," it galvanized these kind of blind support. If we do not have democracy, this God-less state will be fully enforced. We'd be a society that place so little value on life (except one's own since this mindset places self above all else). All it takes is a Movement that will propagandize something "good," and certain people become in-human. We're now tilting towards the mentality that any imperfect children should be aborted. Just wait til Euthanasia becomes legal. Those who have no voice make the easy targets. Drug addicts need to be wary - my hypothethical suggestion isn't quite so far-fetched. All it takes is a powerful lobby group and pandering gutless politicians.
-
Yes. I agree. This abortion that's championed by the left is neck-deep in propaganda.
-
Eh??????? Are you a single person? That could influence my decision....
-
The Christian Faith - most notably the Catholic Church - is being used as the convenient "villain." That's part of the strategy of the Feminist Movement, as shown by one of my previous statement somewhere in this thread. It's obvious, as shown by some rebuttals from pro-choice - they automatically invoke religion. As I've stated before, my argument is with the pro-abortionists....and bringing up the Catholic Church is a sorry excuse. This is what you wrote: Your first sentence nullifies your second statement. The Catholic Church was vocally opposed to birth control - and yet, as you yourself acknowledged, there is a widespread use of birth control devices that we curently enjoy. So it didn't matter whether the Catholic Church approved or not. Why is there such a resistance to a logical suggestion about the promotion of condoms? Isn't it a practical solution, especially when it will also benefit a lot of issues, - prevention of STD, population explosion, food shortage - issues dear to the liberal hearts? Why not focus the resources and energy into heavy promotion of condoms? Look what the leftists did when they focused on anti-smoking! I'd like to see that same passion. Why does it seem more palatable to resort to abortion as the only preferred solution?
-
I don't think anyone will find fault with that....although in some cases, some mothers insist on giving birth to the baby even though it could mean their own death. There is the normal procedures for rape cases. It's not only to prevent unwanted pregnancy, but also to prevent STD. There's the argument that says some women do not want to say they were raped because of shame....well, a woman has to disclose the reason for abortion anyway, isn't it? Besides, there's also the morning-after pill. What happened to that slogan, "it takes a village to raise a child?" Surely Clinton didn't mean it only applies to healthy, adorable-looking kids, did she? Btw, do you think Latimer was right in murdering his disabled child? Well, what happened to all those pills, condoms etc.,? I take it anyone can get rid of an unwanted....or unruly child by reason of....post-partum blues! Didn't a woman in the USA drowned her two children because she fell in love with a guy and she felt her two children were "excess baggage?" How "valuable" life is? You can become expendable at whim! What do you say if I suggest, let's kill the mother instead! Since she's supposed to be in full control of her own body, what with all the birth control devices available at her fingertips, she still got herself pregnant....thererfor she's solely responsible for her predicament. She's a useless drug addict! She's more likely to be pregnant again! If we do her in....that's the root of a weed, gone! Why does the innocent baby be the one to pay the hefty price?
-
Surely not in the grave, I hope. When the life of a mother is in danger, I believe that's where personal choice kicks in. The life of a mother, especially if there are other children to think about, has more weight I guess. I guess no one can fault a mother if she chosed to abort her child under that circumstance. History is full of unwanted children who grew up in orphanages or lucky to have gotten adopted....then later on became success stories. I just watched the movie "Blindside," based on the true story of Michael Ohr. Who knows how things will turn up in the end? Even if they would live only ordinary lives, barely ekking out a living.....surely they deserve to live just like you and me. To be able to exist and experience life. All the more so if we believe what atheists believe - if we get only one shot at life. Opting to kill a fetus just so someone need not be inconvenienced for 9 months underline what I've stated somewhere in this thread that to someone God-less, life has no value. Should we discount a baby and say "he's better off dead" simply because he's not wanted by his mother?

You don't think so? How do you know? Btw, you seem to suggest that kids should be murdered since there will be nobody to adopt them. Talk about slippery slopes! With your kind of thinking, children in orphanages should start trembling in their boots. Children at full term are already not seeing the light of day because of that type of thinking. Anyway, don't worry if abortion is outlawed, those who are self-centered enough to have an abortion in the first place wouldn't hesitate to have one anyway, and futhermore they'd be far more likely to make sure they didn't get themselves into the position of needing to have one. The most logical for them is not to get pregnant!
-
I'm just stating a fact. The topic is about evil, not about the Catholic Church, regardless of your opinion of Roman Catholicism. Don't you change the topic. The topic is evil. The topic is abortion.
-
And it should stop there. If it weren't for the left we wouldn't have the widespread use of abortion as a birth control method of last resort either. Not to suggest that abortion hasn't evolved beyond last resorts. Never mind the Catholics. We're not talking about the Catholics. My argument is with the pro-abortionists. We're talking about abortion.
-
Instead of Atwood, here's what our wish should be: If all the resources, passion and energy of the left is concentrated more in the full-scale propaganda of promoting the usage of condoms....there would hardly be any unwanted pregnancies, and AIDS, HIV, HPV etc.., After all if propaganda to anti-smoking worked, why should we think it wouldn't in promotion of condoms? If we made the smoker feel like a "phariah" for lighting up, and eliminated the places where he could light up....I guess outright banning of abortion should drive the message to use the condom! That propaganda would also help - from the leftist perspective - with the population explosion in the third world, and food shortage! And no fetus needlessly die.
-
I don't think we need to resort to Margaret Atwood for our inspiration. Margaret Atwood's is a liberal relativist's fantasy. George Orwell's vision became a reality.
-
With all the birth control devices and pills available nowadays...including morning-after pills.... there's no excuse for having an unwanted pregnancy. Those hollywood films cited in that link and the "plight" of women being thrown back to the "coat hanger" days of ancient past - the very usage of "coat hanger" is evidence enough - are nothing more than propaganda to promote the "good" in the evil of killing babies. The fact is: we're no longer in the "coat-hanger" ages. Birth control pills and condoms are reasonably priced. Society even give them away for free. Should I cry for the girl who had options prior to getting pregnant.....or for the fetus who had no say or option at all?
-
Yes, the discusssion of evil. The philosophical premise that.....no movement set out to say "we're going to do something evil. Period." Thus the parallel between the evil of Hitler's Third Reich and Feminists' Abortion was brought up. There's still no excuse for the senseless killings of innocents.

Harper's election to lose? He's trying hard...

This is still a free country, as far as I know. There should be no one to censor....or "filter"....what we can read or post. If someone's opinion or style offends you, kindly exercise your freedom to ignore. Besides, I've openly and proudly supported George W. Bush, and I'm a Canadian.
