  1. " So this means we better throw out christianity I guess, eh?. " did I say that anywhere, at all???? Nope! 'and must be pushing 40 or older listening to Marilyn Manson for? " does age dictate musical listening habits? "How is it that an educated 40 something year old can groove to an artist whose groupies are mostly made up of bitter kids rebelling against their parents with the type of music they listen to?" Does age dictate musical listening habits? do you dictate 'shoulds' and 'should nots' by stereotypical standards? Does it concern you that I used a quotation of a Manson lyric? Exactly what's your issue, with that? You did not say to throw out Christianity and I did not say you did. But you frequently deride Christianity, I'm sure an educated 40 something yr old has the life skills to be able to think critically and put 2 and 2 together without someone spelling out each dot that is to be connected. Or not. Yes, age does tend to dictate musical listening habits. For one reason, as one grows out of the teenage years one can discover their previous musical tastes to be shallow and poor examples of the music industries' efforts to free us of our babysitting money. Or not. But hey, listen to whatever turns your crank.
  2. It's your loss if you won't open your eyes to an article by Andrew Coyne, and to Harper's fiscal policies.Dobbin's point is correct. In absolute terms of constant dollars and on an annual basis, Harper is spending more than Trudeau did. Moreover, Harper has increased spending faster than economic growth in Canada and his projected spending is also increasing. You say that this is "politics as usual"but I, for one, voted for Harper primarily because I want government to spend less. It may be true that Harper has made the political calculation that the NDP/Liberals and BQ would be even more spendthrift. I don't care about that and neither should Harper. I have the option of not voting at all. A big chunk of money is being spent on military toys. That's like a guy showing up with a new digital camera, a new Hummer and a widescreen TV. What's the wife going to say? Harper has a long way to go to outspend PET. In another year the revenues may change and a resulting change in the budget could wipe out your concerns August, although not dobbin's. I understand the point, but I think in real terms it's a biased way of looking at it. But to each their own. It seems you also have a bone to pick with military spending, which was drastically cut and for a decade our military has had to work with worsening toys which put them at greater risk, such as transports that break down and have light weight armour that can be pierced with a sling shot. As well the Sea Kings continue to be a national embarrassment. But again, since that obviously doesn't bother you, perhaps the slash burn of our military done by Chretien doesn't either. But I think the 'wife' would be happy to know that the Canadian government is now taking better care of her husband. In the long term, I would be concerned with spending if it continues at this pace, but so many variables come into place, it's kind of like expecting that Chretien was actually going to rebuild the transcanada highway when news reports came out saying he would to leave a legacy of his reign. The potholes are getting bigger.
  3. Quite a list, scott. No doubt this is where the hard left trots out numbers including what the American government has 'killed' and call it religious ritual kilings.
  4. It is apparent that in the summer session of parliament, the Tories have embarked on a strategy. Whether you like it or not, many liberals want the government to take care of every detail of their lives. Perhaps this spending is an attempt to give it to them in spades, I don't know. You contend that The tories are outspending PET, but this is spending that hasn't been done yet. Get back to me with your claim of outspending PET when they actually do it. The reason I am not concerned yet about the Tory spending is after over a decade of Liberal spending on liberal minded programs of all kinds, it's nice to have a conservative holding the purse strings for a change, as long as they do some tax cuts and debt payment as well.
  5. Wow, quite a gem you've found kuzy. No duh the guy doesn't practice what he preaches. So this means we better throw out christianity I guess, eh?. Manson was right after all. By the way, what's a woman who's been married for '20' years (as you mentioned on anther thread) , and must be pushing 40 or older listening to Marilyn Manson for? How is it that an educated 40 something year old can groove to an artist whose groupies are mostly made up of bitter kids rebelling against their parents with the type of music they listen to? What does your husband say about this? Something doesn't add up.
  6. Further, I find it kind of funny that you keep mining the National Post for stories against Harper dobbin. You pick out the one story critical of him and ignore the five supportive stories. Maybe you should read the whole paper, it might do you some good.
  7. Your statement was still wrong since it made no connection to the link. I don't bother to read many of your links or the links of some other left wingers since I know of the biases involved. Like I said, Harper will have to spend for many years to outdo the spending of Trudeau. Further, with record budgets, I'm not surprised to have spending up. Haven't you heard that the Tories are down in the polls? Spending is usually what a party does in such a position. BTW, your claim that the Tories will outspend PET is based on projected spending, not actual, according to the info in the post you made.
  8. His defence team rejected a judge only trial this time around. So? I'm guessing you don't know what an appeal case would consist of?
  9. I don't need to give any links, your ORIGINAL statement, from which you have now back pedelled and spun, claimed that in two years, Harper has outspent all of Trudeau's era. Silly as well as wrong. Here's your statement: Use caution before making such wildly wrong statements, please.
  10. Well I'm so glad to discover that there actually are no races. You brave people who have championed this cause have also slayed racism. And to think the world has been struggling with a problem that doesn't exist! We're all one.
  11. Your remark about PET is still flat wrong. If you'll notice, I never denied the Tories are spending, I don't mind so much since we've had a huge surplus recently, something you were also complaining about. What did you expect a politician to do when he's got a record surplus, save it for a rainy day?
  12. This is often trotted out as a means to educate others to the fact that there is little difference between Islam and Christianity as they both have their killers. But when you analyze, it doesn't hold up. How many have been killed in the last year to prevent abortions? How many have been killed in the last year in Holy Jihad? The devil is in the details.
  13. AM, please don't feel that you have to apologize for what your government does or does not do. It is simply out of your hands. And when you read the hate speech that some shrill posters love to spew, remember that there have always been haters of the U.S., and when you are number one in the world some will hate for that reason alone.
  14. Uh, right. PED was in power for how many years? Harper will have to go a long way to outdo him, but I appreciate your optimism.
  15. In the time I've been here (going on 2 years and 2000 posts), I've received maybe three warnings. You mean you've NEVER received ONE warning EVER? Really? With your mouth, and 3300 posts, I don't believe that. Love me while you're leavin' darling.
  16. Kuzzad, you often accuse others of adding nothing to the discussion, and then you go and add nothing to the discussion...keep listening to Manson.
  17. Once again an inaccurate comparison. In a country that governed with Karl Marx or Muslim principles, those dolls would have been forced on children by the government. In Walmart land you are free to not buy it. Even avoid that aisle like the plague, if you so choose. I suggest those so concerned about this feel free to not shop at Walmart, or as I'm told when protesting about liberal crap on the CBC, " Just change the channel!" But somehow I doubt those lefties with their panties in a bunch will be able to change the channel and let the market decide. At least Walmart sells tinfoil.
  18. The Canadian press loves to froth at the mouth over such things. It helps them sell their product even though they've been wrong many times before. Since the Tories don't have the control over an election date that a majority government would, it makes it a rather hard sell.
  19. As someone on the right, I've been given a warning on at least a couple of occasions. I think since these warnings don't get publicized around here the lefties such as kuzzad and chick (among others) may think they are hard done by. You are not, but feel free to abstain from this forum in protest all you want.
  20. So, how do you encourage people to have a family? Throw more tax money at them? I don't think any realistic amount will do, we are headed for a time perhaps unparalled in history. There will be not enough workers, too many demands on the medical system for which there will be not enough wor... uh, you get the picture. The education system will have to shrink greatly, and what will it do to private property values as baby boomers retire to the old folks home. I say we are going to reap what our philosophy has brought about. Convenience abortions and the pill in the age of the gland. We wanted sex without responsibilities and man did we get it. The family unit has been on the retreat ever since it was wrongly accused of being a religious thing. People are so easy to manipulate. Ah well, at least it will be interesting.
  21. How would you know? Perhaps I should point out that was an attempt at humour. Reading my post again just now it seems to be something else.
  22. Juries can be interviewed and the reasons for their decision can form part of an appeal. One thing that seemed significant to me is that the jurors have said that there was no written record to support the fraud charges. They instead relied on "what he did", or something like that. It appears to me, that a verdict based on ignoring the written record very likely won't stand up on appeal. From what I've read the non-compete payments were not secret. They were approved by the board and provided to regulators at the time which doesn't seem criminal to me. This is really just a witch hunt because he's rich and arrogant. Being rich is a crime of course, and too bad if the evidence is inconclusive. Do appeals on cases like this have juries as well? He stands a better chance someone schooled in the law has the case, like a judge only.
  23. Sometimes I think that some people wait to see what side of an issue certain posters take before then automatically taking the other side. It's so rare to see agreement even in our own culture, perhaps even this is evidence of the uniqueness of cultures and the need to preserve them.
  24. I remember that thread, and it had nothing to do with politics whatsoever. Some people commented that they stopped the video when she took her shirt off. That kind of nonsense can be posted elsewhere, but not here. So now you're back and the first thing you do is complain about it? Let it go man.
  25. Tell that to the starving children in Africa. They obviously deserve it for not following <insert faith that they didn't follow>, which is of course the true faith. There is enough food for all. There is enough water for all. It is man's greed and power lust that cause unexpected results like the destitute poor and starving children. And God doesn't run around fixing our mistakes. He gave us free will to do what we would in this world, and that is what we are doing.
