It has been argued that if a referendum was put to the Americans to join Canada, the lower 48 would form the majority in favor. There is no question that U.S. citizens are envious of the Canuck nation - health care, maternity leave, no racial riots, no facade of a government for the people, no fascism, no Trump, no ginormous inner city slums, maple syrup, real beer, Tim Horton's, lower cost of living, uber quality of life, better social programs ................ to name a few. Supposedly what really pi$$es off Canucks abroad is U.S. citizens displaying the Maple Leaf and having zero knowledge re; the country, that said, Americans generally demonstrate complete ignorance of American history as well. 🤣

The Americans fought the war of northern aggression with the southern invasion of the confederacy......... preventing them from seceding. The October crisis resulted in the death of Pierre Laporte and the PM evoking the War Measures Act? Quebec was occupied territory and the action was much resented. ........... arguably the October crisis resulted in the election of Rene Levesque and his separatists and by extension the most divisive statute imaginable - Bill 101.

(partisan hacks expected the vote to be defeated) They guessed wrong ...... the people decided favor! On May 8th, 2026 the V. Supreme Court declared, in a 4-3 decision, the results of the measure were void because the GA violated procedural requirement when placing the measure on the April 21 ballot. The V. Supreme Court of course voided election results for V. redistricting referendum (despite the people deciding in favor), blocking implementation of a map that would have shifted 4 congressional seats towards Dems. Typical political corruption - the PEOPLE had decided in favor........ The Supreme Court had previously decided (Feb 13) before the vote that the referendum could proceed and then voided the unexpected result. A designed bushwhack - after millions had been spent.
