Tell me about it! I feed a family of four on a small income. Events of the last 6 years are largely to blame but there has definitely been price-gouging by the big chains. A lot of items that we buy (or used to buy) at Loblaws have doubled in just the last 3 years, well above the rate of inflation. Oddly enough, while prime rib is mostly out of reach, I was getting same-day caught lobster for $7/lb this year. Go figure!
