I would say it's one of the results of wealth, in any country. -
Why liberalism is destined to fail
Barquentine replied to paxamericana's topic in Political Philosophy
How so? Doesn't the governing body just codify it? And it can go either way, depending on the philosophy of that body. For instance, the same bodies that overturned Roe vs Wade are the same bodies that brought it forward in the first place. The same ones that advanced civil rights in the US are now trying to repeal them. -

Is The Trump Cult Fascist?
Barquentine replied to robosmith's topic in Federal Politics in the United States
Talk about cheap and lazy thinking! Every accusation a confession from you. This from the guys that thing global warmin is a hoax, and that support anti-science imbeciles like RFK and Trump. -
Are you really that stupid or just so desperate for a 'Gotcha" moment you're fantasizing and clutching at straws? Harper was signing the same type of MOU years before. Exactly! NO it's not. Are you so insecure you have to level schoolyard insults with every post? You have my sympathy. (But not my empathy, though since you guys don't believe in that I guess it doesn't matter.)

This is nothing new whether we can read the text or not, which I suspect they will release. https://www.canada.ca/en/news/archive/2012/02/canada-china-law-enforcement-judicial-cooperation.html To this end, on February 9, 2012, Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Premier Wen Jiabao reaffirmed Canada and China’s intention to strengthen cooperation in combatting transnational crime and repatriating fugitives, and to enhance judicial and law enforcement cooperation. In June 2010, Prime Minister Harper and Chinese President Hu Jintao witnessed the signing of the Canada-China MOU on Cooperation on Combatting Crime. The MOU aims to facilitate cooperation between the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and the Chinese Ministry of Public Security. Close cooperation between Canada and China on mutual legal assistance in criminal matters also led to the prosecution of Ang Li in China for his role in the death of Amanda Zhao in Vancouver. Discussions between Canadian and Chinese legal experts also facilitated the deportation of economic fugitive Lai Changxing to China in July 2011.

building Chinese cars here in Canada....
Barquentine replied to Army Guy's topic in Federal Politics in Canada
So much for capitalism and the free market. But Chinese cars will get into the US eventually. Even the Orange Ass likes the idea: https://www.nbcnews.com/world/asia/chinese-evs-take-world-storm-united-states-rcna344680 "Wang said he favored greater Chinese investment in the U.S. because “greater competition generally improves product quality as well as the price points.” He pointed to the improvements in American cars that resulted from Japanese competition and investment in the 1980s. Trump has expressed openness to the idea. “If they want to come in and build a plant and hire you and hire your friends and your neighbors, that’s great, I love that,” he said in January. “Let China come in.” And: https://www.lowyinstitute.org/the-interpreter/chinese-evs-made-usa# "Certainly, Ford has been relatively forward-leaning in seeking to integrate Chinese technology. The company, whose CEO Jim Farley personally drives a Xiaomi EV, has partnered with battery giant CATL to license and manufacture lower-cost lithium iron phosphate batteries in Michigan. This partnership was recently extended to include energy storage batteries." -

No. By that time they're throwing up and crying for Mama. Want? Like hunger, like living on the street in winter? Pain, like severe disease? Any country being bombed would withstand. What else could they do? London during the blitz? And we may cringe at inflation, while in other parts of the world people riot over it. Compared to the East? Japan, Dubai, all the other rich countries in that hemisphere? Is the US soft? Don't think Iran, Venezuela, Cuba... would agree with that. -
AI The RCMP has formal law enforcement agreements, such as Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) and liaison arrangements, with law enforcement agencies in over 60 countries to combat transnational crime. Core Details of the AgreementThe Objectives: The MOU formally commits both nations to strengthen cooperation, share best practices, exchange investigative information, and coordinate technical training to tackle transnational crime. The Controversy: The Canadian government and the RCMP have kept the exact text of the MOU confidential, citing operational security and inter-agency confidentiality requirements. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and Germany operate under the Canada-Germany Treaty on Mutual Assistance in Criminal Matters. Signed originally in 1977 and continually updated, this treaty establishes a formal framework for both nations to exchange evidence, locate suspects, and cooperate in joint transnational investigations. The primary active agreement between the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and France is the In-Flight Security Officer Treaty. The RCMP also maintains ongoing law enforcement and tactical training partnerships with French agencies. Your extreme partisanship makes you ridiculous, as usual.

Interesting that it's the 'Pursuit of happiness" not just 'happiness" that's an unalienable right. Is there a definition that fits every individual? Freedom from want or pain? That never changes. -

limitless pleasure? No such thing! Every kid learns that by their third bowl of ice cream. -
Carney does not run the RCMP. The RCMP have agreements with a lot of countries on criminal investigations and does not release a lot of the agreements. Why do you automatically assume the RCMP is stupid? You think they're just handing everything over to the Chinese? Oh, I forgot - you know more than anybody else about every thing (except your idol Trump, of course).

“The machinery of government should never be weaponized against any American, and it is this Department’s intention to make right the wrongs that were previously done while ensuring this never happens again,” Blanche Unless you're Trump, of course. What is this, 1984? James Comey, John kelly, and Letitia James should get about $300,000,000 of that fund. Yet one more reason Trump's administration IS the most crooked in history.

You guys still want to hang Mike Pence? Attacks on Capitol Police The U.S. Capitol Attack: On January 6, 2021, an unprecedented assault on the U.S. Capitol was carried out by right-wing extremist groups (such as the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers) attempting to protest the 2020 presidential election results https://www.justice.gov/usao-mn/pr/vance-boelter-indicted-murders-melissa-and-mark-hortman-shootings-john-and-yvette-0 Vance Boelter, 57, has been indicted on six federal charges in connection with the stalking and murders of Minnesota House of Representatives Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman and her husband Mark Hortman, the stalking and shooting of Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette Hoffman, and the attempted shooting of their daughter Hope Hoffman https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Right-wing_terrorism Sands, Geneva (6 October 2020). But you didn't condemn it. I at least said Kirk didn't deserve to be killed. Please, please quote where I defended violence or is it just the voices in your head telling you I did? -
