Obama was probably forced to take Biden because he was an elder statesman that has been in government for a long time and he wasn't a threat to overshadowing him. I think that because they severely hamstrung themselves with Biden saying it had to be a woman of color. I still have no clue what she brought to the table for Biden she was sooo unpopular and represented a state that is so tied up for the Democrats they only go there to raise money.
